Upcharge service near scam or actual scam tune of $360 at oil change/scheduled maintenance…read more Service advisor constantly "talks fast" (very fast), highlights a small charge and skims over or fails to mention a large charge. When you complain, you are shown a video of your conversation with the service manager that you can hardly hear with again talk that is fast and unclear. You are told the video ...cannot...be sent to you for more detailed examination. I remember agreeing to a $45 charge while looking at a page that showed $16. You'd think a service advisor would take some time to clearly explain the need for a $360 service item. Examining the maintenance schedule their is...nothing...anywhere remotely related to the "fuel cleaner" for which the charge was made. Of course, with a video one can hardly hear, and a service manager "talking fast" in "urban slang" tones and accents I can't say ...fairly...what the video actually shows. All I can say is it makes no sense that I would have let the request to pre-authorize a $360 upcharge at an oil change/scheduled maintenance go unnoticed. I remember very clearly during each of our conversations...struggling...to understand the service advisor. I really wonder now if all of that "fast talk" wasn't cultivated to further failed understanding. The service manager had the nerve to tell me, "Don't threaten me" when I "threatened" to buy a Rubicon at a different dealership.

He was told multiple times prior to the tag expiring that it was being overnighted yet the paperwork was never completed and sent to the DMV. He's had the car for two months and has had to drive a rental for the last two weeks because they can't get the paperwork right. We've talked to multiple managers and everyone has to get with someone else. I would never recommend this place especially for military personnel who are registering their vehicles in their home state. He did have a great sales experience but it amounts to nothing when you can't drive the car you've been sold.

My wife and I had an excellent experience at Mazda of Columbia. We were greeted with a warm smile…read moreand friendly sales rep named Mackenzie. We walked in there to test drive a 2025 CX90 and didn't know much about the different trim levels and what each trim offered. However, Mackenzie and the managing partner of the dealership, Jason, did a wonderful job helping us find the car that catered to all our wants and needs. We didn't buy on the first night that we went because we had a lot of thinking to do, and Mackenzie and Jason were very understanding and they weren't pushy either. We came back again the next day, we test drive a few more cars. Initially we wanted a 2025 CX90 Black on Black, but we ended up leaving with a car that was light exterior and interior and they made it so easy for us to figure out what we truly wanted on our own. We traded in a car, they were reasonable with their offer and we accepted. We felt highly valued and respected, even throughout the tough parts of the negotiation. Even when we signed the documents with the finance manager, Kent, we felt very much at ease. And although his job is to sell us everything but the kitchen sink, he was not aggressive or forceful in offering us warranties and additional coverage products. He was honest and genuine, and we did buy a service contract because of that. Mazda of Columbia is the complete opposite of the stigma that dealerships and car shopping carry. I would buy a car here again without a doubt, and would recommend my family and friends to shop here.

1 star for Mazda of Columbia. When I dropped my car off, I…read morewas told the diagnosis would take about one hour. Thankfully they provided me with a loaner vehicle (a Mazda CX-30), because that "one hour" turned into 10 days. I paid $209 for a full diagnostic because I wanted to know everything wrong with the vehicle. Mazda returned a list of 18 items labeled as needing "immediate attention," with a repair quote totaling around $11,000. After reviewing the list, my mechanic told me many of the items were unnecessary add-ons or inflated dealership recommendations. The pricing was outrageous. During this process, I accidentally damaged one of the loaner car's tires after hitting a curb. I fully understood that I was responsible for paying for the replacement tire. However, I was told it would cost around $300, then was charged $390 without being informed ahead of time about the additional cost. Instead of offering the dealership's actual cost or trying to help in any way, it felt like they used the situation to profit off of me for damaging their loaner vehicle. Charging nearly $400 for one tire was extremely excessive. After I had my headlights repaired elsewhere. Mazda quoted me $1,467.74 PER headlight assembly. My mechanic replaced BOTH for $1,381.78 total. When my mechanic went to install the light bulb, he discovered Mazda had failed to reinstall the headlight connector and had left components missing from my car. He explained that without the headlight and connector installed, moisture could have entered the headlight assembly and caused major problems because it is a sealed system. I contacted Mazda and was told they "knew nothing" about the missing connector. My mechanic then called them personally. He said the first employee he spoke with didn't even understand what part was missing. He asked to speak with the service manager, Elizabeth. According to my mechanic, she laughed when he asked about obtaining the missing connector. He even suggested they temporarily pull the connector from another vehicle and replace it once the part arrived because I am a night delivery driver and needed a functioning headlight for the weekend. He said she refused to help until the possibility of leaving a review was mentioned. At that point, she said she would "see what she could do" and would call him back. After a couple of hours he called her back -- but nothing was done. We ultimately had to wait until Monday for the replacement part to arrive, leaving me without a proper headlight all weekend. This entire experience was a nightmare: Told 1 hour, waited 10 days Charged excessive dealership pricing Charged more than quoted for a tire Parts left off my vehicle No accountability Poor customer service from management No urgency to fix a problem they created I expected professionalism and accountability from Mazda and received neither.
