Terrible in-store customer service. I walked into the store and was never acknowledged by the sales staff. Two were busy trying to find parts that were not ordered correctly for a gentleman and the third sales person decided to check the mail and comment about what might be in each piece. I have purchased numerous tires from this place and the service has gotten progressively worse. I drop the wheel off and they say they will call when ready. I arrive to pick it up and it's NOT ready; the tire arrived and my wheel is line to get changed, WTF. This has happened more than once and is a waste of my time. The pricing keeps fluctuating for mounting and balancing and other taxes, which lead me to believe they don't have a clue what they are charging. I feel it would be a good investment to get my own tire changing machine, since i do go through alot of tires. read more

I've been buying tires at Cycle Gear since the 1980s down in the Bay Area. They've typically had very competitive prices on brand name tires, but you have to bring the wheel off the bike, because they won't R&R the wheel. Other than tires, most of their stuff goes for straight up retail if it's a brand name with little discounting. They also have their own line, called "Bilt," which is off shore junk. Perfect for equipping your kids, or for hobbyists who are going through a phase. I did pick up a nice neon yellow plastic faux Mohawk that sticks on the top of my helmet there. read more

The worst customer service. I have been a customer for over 15 years and even raced for cycle gear. After today I am sure I will not be back. Just wanted a tire today. salesperson walked away while helping me to help another customer, waited 10 minutes and attempted to get his attention, ended up walking out and going down the road. I like that they are convenient to where I live and that they can also order different size apparel if they don't have your size. I ordered riding pants which took just a few days to arrive. Their staff is friendly enough but it seems like they wait a little to long to greet you even if they are not busy. One of the employees, a manager as well, felt he needed to argue with me about weather or not transitional motorcycle shades (shades that go dark in the day and are clear at night) exist. He told me there is no such thing when In fact I own several pairs. But most of my shopping experiences here have been positive other than a few times when they haven't been. 1/7/2015 I'm giving 2 stars because someone actually tried to help me at first... I was looking for a motorcycle jacket with a concealed carry pocket first and then I was going to see about getting rain gear and new pants .... after looking with the employee who was really nice and friendly to no avail (didn't take long they don't have much in store at all as far as jackets) the employee asked his manager about the jacket .... Now I'm not sure if he intended this and I'd like to give the benefit of a doubt but it did leave a really bad impression causing me to leave... The manager then looks at me with what seemed like a irritated/disgusted look on his face and stated in a disgusted tone of voice (he had been talking on the phone and when he spoke to me his voice changed drastically) "We don't deal with anything concealed carry". I left without getting anything.... Remember the impressions you give affect your business.... in this case managements tone of voice and the look he gave me caused me to leave without buying anything on my list and I won't be coming back. there are plenty of other businesses in the area I can give my money to that won't speak to me like i'm trash. I understand that not selling concealed carry items may be against a companies policy and that's fine but that doesn't mean you should talk down to customers who are looking for those items. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edited 5/17/2015 EDIT: changed to 1 star rating as I went in to buy riding gloves as one of mine fell out of my bag somewhere and I was in urgent need and was heading the opposite direction from eagle .... upon trying on a couple pairs of gloves I was very disappointed and shocked that they had gloves that were obvious returns/defective for sale. they were being held together by a paperclip... the stitching had been ripped out of the fingertips to the point you could see your finger tips poking through and the leather ripped where the stitching used to be... these were bilt brand gloves (cycle gears brand) I went to the counter to bring it to their attention as it was a real concern where the same guy that was rude and insulting before was... his comment was don't worry about it as bilt brand has a warranty... I then explained that this was safety equipment they were selling that was already ruined that was an obvious return as it was held together by an oversized paperclip. which was the point he got irritated with me saying I was hurting his business... My point was they're selling defective safety gear... that is obviously defective that's on the shelf being sold... people trust these products to protect them. when a customer comes across safety gear in this condition for sale how do they know that their helmets haven't been dropped or aren't defective... I think that's what hurts the business not someone bringing something to their attention that's a real concern.... I had decided to give them a second chance after the guy was insulting and talked down to me the previous visit... I have since filed a complaint with their chains customer service where they asked if I wanted to hear from a regional manager and told them no as I don't want a discount or handout I just want them to sell safe products and take care of an obvious safety concern I encountered at this location.. I will never be back to a cycle gear store to buy a product as any trust in the company is gone. I also will never buy a bilt brand item as there is no way I would ever feel comfortable trusting that their products to keep me safe anymore.. read more

Great crew! Friendly and willing to help. Their Bilt housebrand gear is a bargain for what you get. Even better at sale prices.

Agreed, good place for gear, and pretty knowledgable. They need to be careful to help folks that are in FRONT of them with a wallet. They need to make customers in store, priority over the phone calls. read more
