Apparently the staff at this store could care less about customer service, no greeting, they don't even bother to say thank you. This is not a one-off situation either. You can stand in line, waiting to be checked out, only one cashier, the rest of them are all chatting with each other and just stare at you. It's a wonder they stay in business. read more

My Volvo was missing a light in the front of the vehicle, so I stopped at my favorite parts store and went in to ask them about it. I was greeted immediately, then the gentleman listened to my story, then said, 'Let's go outside and take a look.' He came outside. We ran the lights and blinkers. Still nothing... Then he got down on the cement, looked under my very low car and says, 'It's your foglights and you don't really need them on a 2005 Volvo.' Auto Zone Alternators are JUNK! I purchased a NEW, not refurbished alternator for my Acura from Autozone back in April of 2022. Six months later on October 21, 2022, it started acting up. The alternator I replaced back in April appeared to be the same brand. It failed just after year after I bought this car which was only driven less than 4k miles. Duralast alternators are garbage! Auto Zone's return policy is basically non-existent. They will trade you for replacement piece of junk, but then you'll be stuck in an endless cycle of paying for labor to replace this part every 6 months to a year. It's a money pit and a trap. Years ago, I replaced my alternator using the same brand for my Toyota. Afterwards, I would receive a high pitch feedback through my car speakers. It was very annoying. I should have learned my lesson then. I do not recommend any alternator from Auto Zone, O'Reilly's, etc. Save yourself the headaches and time wasted by staying away from these places! Have your stock alternator rebuilt or buy genuine parts. Believe me and you will thank me for it. read more

I needed a new battery and popped in. Gentleman who helped me get the right battery was super helpful explaining all the different choices, even though they were busy. I asked if I could pay one of them to put it in, and he said oh no, we'll do that for free. What? That's great! They had a line and said they were a man down and it would be a minute. They kept apologizing for the delay. Absolutely no need to apologize! I was so grateful for them to put it in for me. Another guy installed it for me and I was on my way. Thanks so much guys. Here is what I wrote them online under "contact us" "order questions". I hit the "Submit" button many times but it would not accept the note at all. I then filled in feedback on website, letting them know it doesn't work. I can't believe the following, read this for yourself before you buy parts from these incompetents and waste time, money and frustration with parts that don't fit and people who won't own it. on 07-dec-20 ordered power steering pump for 84 nissan 300zx turbo. Had to wait to install, but today 5/17/21 finally attempted, only to find after removing old pump and nearly fully installing the new pump the shaft on the new pump is much larger than the hole in the OEM pulley on the car. I checked but Autozone doesn't sell those. nobody does. It's up to the parts people to know things fit. Other people sell these pumps and they DO fit. Now, how stupid can they be when they sell a part to not measure the diameter of the drive shaft on it versus the OEM? I didn't believe anyone could be that stupid, and to check it while on the car you have to remove a lot of stuff first. So I just assumed or trusted they'd have at least put a caliper on the shaft to see these things will take the standard pulley ok. NO. I wound up 4 hours later having to call O'reilly's to get an overnight part. The O'reilly person explained that they rebuild them from OEM parts so they KNOW they will fit. The one from autozone cost me a LOT more money, too. O'reilly's is charging me 98 bucks for an OEM reman unit, while Autozone charged me almost 200 for a "new" unit, supposed to be the very best. I was hoping to use a new unit, but alas, it doesn't fit, and I can't return it either. I'm out almost 200 and about 4 hours of messy work, and I'm still not done. The guy on the phone from the local Autozone store says they don't support online sales, so I called online sales, and they said the order was "too old" to be refunded so put it on Ebay and try to sell it. You can imagine by now, I'm not happy or treated well, by Autozone, as I'm sure anyone will agree. Up to you. I didn't throw out the unit or the the order invoice from BBB Industries, Sparta Distribution Center with your name Autozone at the top of the page on "ship to" in Tenn. This store isn't bad. I personally hate going to aftermarket stores to pick up parts. I called in with the make, model, year and engine type looking for an alternator. Luckily they had one in stock at this location. The person who answered the phone didn't tell me there was a core charge. However since I am an automotive technician I kindly asked him about it and he told me it was a $52 charge. Once I got to the store (30min later) an associate helped me out and was surprised the part wasn't put on hold for me. Oh well, glad it was still there! I ended up buying a few other things like windshield washer fluid, wiper blades and an air filter. The guy I talked to in store was very kind, helpful and quick to find parts. He also signed me up for a free store points card. What really caught me off guard was seeing Snap-On mechanic gloves in the store. read more

This Auto Zone was outstanding today, and has been in the past as well. Justin displayed his yoga skills dexterity, as he cheerfully climbed under my dashboard to plug in the contraption that told him what the "check engine" light in my car indicated was wrong. Once he learned the problem, he had several excellent suggestions as to how to address the issue, which spanned from the $19.99 hopeful fix, to the full part replacement at $411. He was outstanding, and I am very appreciative of his friendly and knowledgeable help, as well as his delightful sense of humor. Good job today for Auto Zone. My rear tail lights were not working and instead of paying a repair shop to have it fixed, I thought to go to AutoZone and ask their opinion. I was greeted by Kat, who went out to my car to see what the problem was. She quickly determined I needed new brake bulbs and turn light bulbs. After I purchased them, she even came out and installed them for me and showed me how to do it myself. She was amazing. That's amazing customer service! We were totally shocked at reading the reviews previously posted on yelp. Today, my wife and I, visited the Autozone in Auburn for the first time. They were very busy yet greeted us immediately upon entering and continued to apologize while helping those ahead of us, which was totally unnecessary. Specifically, I wanted to compliment Michael M, a young man working the counter, that went out of his way to not only sell us the products we asked about but actually came out to the car and installed them! This young man is bilingual and without a doubt one of the most efficient and professional auto parts sales reps we have ever encountered. Judging by the past reviews, I can not imagine that Michael will continue to work here as his expertise and self-confidence will ultimately land him in either a dealership or large auto repair company either of which will pay him far more than the Autozone. read more

So I've been in this AutoZone twice. The very first time I went in to buy oil and oil filter and check out the prices on a couple other things. From the moment I walked in the door both employees would literally not let me out of their sight. And it made me feel so uncomfortable because every time I looked up they were pretty much at the end of the aisle that I was in looking down the aisle and acting like they weren't so I didn't buy anything I turned around and went to O'Reilly's. Today I went in there because I had no choice because my girlfriend took me in there to buy a Muffler. They would have had to order to my muffler but she left and I decided to look around a little bit to see if there's anything I needed. Three different guys were working today period at any given moment that I was in there there wasn't an employee more than 10 feet away from me. I even tried to shake them to see if they were really following me and surprise surprise they were. I'm not some young punk kid either I am a 41 year old man. And I've never felt more uncomfortable in a store with employees than I have at that place. And guess what O'Reilly's got my business again and they will from now on because I will never step foot into another AutoZone because of those three employees that were working today read more

To sum it up RUDE David to be exact. I went in to get my car scanned. Cashier was a final sorry don't know her name, asked if I could hold as she was the only one in there (David was outside sitting), no worries I told her. She finally went out and for David, he walked in told her to give me the scanner I can do it myself. I said excuse me, I don't know how to do this. Though his advertise that you do it. he said that they were way too busy and that he cannot believe tour with her in there by herself. I find this really hard to believe considering he was outside sitting there when I walked in and the same amount of people were still in the store as there was when he was outside. I told him there's only two people in line to be rung up I will wait. He got huffy about this, very rude. while I was waiting an older gentleman probably in his seventies came in and asked the same thing and he handed out him and said here go scan it yourself. the guy said he doesn't know how to do that and David's rude comment was nobody seems to know how. My father in law called and paid for parts at the federal way location. The federal way location said they would deliver the parts to the auburn location (which they tried to do). And apparently they tried to deliver the parts and the commercial manager then said that they wouldn't take them. And when I went to pick them up was COMPLETELY RUDE. Needed a new car battery to replace one installed 9 months ago that wouldn't hold a charge (bought from N. Clinton store), called Autozone in Auburn~ they had one in stock & placed a hold on it for me to get the next morning. I have to say, first of all, that Jason was nothing short of extremely helpful on the phone. The next morning I jumped the defective battery & drove to the Auburn store where the employees changed out the battery for me. The battery sits lower than the hold-downs, so the N. Clinton store had used wood pieces ripped from a pallet to fill the gap. Did the trick, but looked shoddy. The Auburn store used the spacer tray that comes with the new battery, made for this very purpose ! Thanks Jason for being on top of this, I'm a happy customer. The aftermarket parts business is extremely competitive. But the sad part about these type of stores, are the low paid, clueless, untrained, employees. I have been a ASE master tech for 30 + years, and dealt with many many parts suppliers, Auto zone is nothing special at all...and there parts are total garbage. the other day, I went into the new one in Algona, The kid there told me all their parts are OEM quality, I almost laughed at him. I asked him why he would say that to a customer, knowing all their parts come from china or worse. He said that's what he was told..... I said that the only reason I was there in the first place was because I was in a hurry. I normally purchase my parts from professional businesses. Like FAST UNDERCAR in Kent, or even Car quest or Napa.... on a plus side, Autozone is a awesome place to buy air a air freshener, or wiper blades, just don't let them try to install it.....And NEVER go there to have your check engine light checked, HOW the hell do you think they know what they are doing? When my alternator first went out I went to this Auto Zone to get a new one. I gave them all my info and traded my original core in. A year later my alternator and my battery needed replacing so I did so this past summer getting both parts from the auburn auto zone. All of sudden my car is having trouble starting. Took it to a few different places and everyone said that the battery needs replacing. Took it back to auto zone and they said my battery needed charging. After still having trouble, I had the alternator, battery, and starter checked. Was told the alternator needed replacing so because it was under warranty I got a new one from auto zone. my car is still having problems and wanted to replace the battery they gave me the run around...then the manager after looking at my alternator decided that I had the wrong size alternator (which they gave me) he then proceeds to tell me that I need a bigger more expensive alternator and the only way to tell if that was the problem was to get that bigger and more expensive alternator. So I say will it be an even trade he says no I have to pay. so I said even though I came there and gave them all the correct information they gave me the wrong size alternator that "looks exactly as the right one so it's hard to tell" they want me to buy a brand new alternator? The manager says yes because the original one passed the one year warranty. But the one I bought over the summer is still under warranty and it's the wrong size....but this is not their fault!!?? I will never be going there again and I will be getting hold of corporate. if I could give zero stars I would! read more

went there for a charging system test. The guy immediately said "battery is bad", which it turns out it was not. then I asked to test the alternator, and was told they can't, without putting a new battery in. When I called them out on this, they instantly became very rude and argumentative. Then, this guy walked up with his lunch in his hand, and jumped right in the argument, without first telling me that he was the store manager. He just decided to argue with me without knowing the situation. When I was leaving, I was given an extremely sarcastic "Have a nice day" I went to the O'reilley store down the street, and using the exact same machine as auto Zone, successfully tested the battery, starter, and alternator. funny how one store can and the other cannot do this test. A couple of days later, after reading the e-mails I sent to corporate, this same manager called me. He had all these sweet and nice things to say, and even offered me a forty dollar gift card. Made me feel all good and stuff, until I thought about it for a while, and realized he did that only to shut me up. He also begged me not to give them a negative review.. I live two minutes from this store, but will go the extra distance to their competitors who actually seem to know what they are talking about. My impression of this store is that all they want to do is sell you something whether you need it or not. They seem to think that every customer who walks through the door is stupid, and can be conned into unneeded purchases. The only reason they got one star is because there is no option to give ZERO. Very poor customer service, and bad attitudes from the employees, including the so-called manager. Never again will auto Zone, ANY Auto zone, see a dime of my money. read more
