Understaffed on a busy Sunday. The one barista seemed overwhelmed. Decent chai, but the coffee was undrinkable.

I probably ordered an earl grey latte. I visited Cyberia (and Houghton) over the 4th of July weekend. I was visiting friends working there for the summer. This is such a sweet coffeeshop. State wide public 'wear a mask rule' for public safety, but the skinny college aged kid, actually working at the shop making the drinks says "I won't die" Otherwise coffee was fine... but that little shit is why I'm leaving one star. I love and respect my grandparents. read more

They have a lot of really great options, I came here a lot in High School. When you're a kid (you can't really go to the bar) so this coffee shop was a really great place to go and hang out. Even when I worked for summer camps in the UP we would always stop here and the kids love it. On that note, 4 stars because it could use an air freshener. read more

When I first moved up to Houghton to go to Michigan Tech I was fairly satisfied with this place as an alternate study location though as years passed I either grew into a snob or this place has gone down hill. It most likely is a little of both though I will enumerate my gripes below, in order of how strongly I feel about them: 1. They don't accept credit cards! There is an ATM across the street but it's cold up here and it 20-goddamn-15. Back when I was going frequently, there were times when I didn't because I didn't want to go through the hassle of getting cash. It doesn't make any sense. The cost of losing even a single sale far outweighs the cost of processing a credit card. 2. Their coffee tastes a bit stale and sometimes you can taste the remnants of a flavored coffee ground previously in the grinder. 3. Their WiFi is slow and kicks you off randomly. It may even have a time limit, though I'm not sure. 4. Their prices are very high and are constantly being raised. It has become so bad that their drive through location on the other side of town has removed prices all together from their menu because they can't be bothered to change them all the time. As far as I'm aware, milk, sugar, and coffee prices don't fluctuate that much or that often. If your prices are changing that often, something is wrong. 5. Their staff is never at the counter so you end up having to wait sometimes up to 2-3 minutes for someone to take your order. Also, the owner sometimes works the counter and he is one of the least personable person I've ever interacted with in a retail setting. Ultimately, I would be much happier patronizing a chain coffee shop than this place. And if you're a Tech student, you are much better off studying at the campus library. Their coffee is much better and reasonably priced. read more

Oh, Cyberia. It's the most cozy place to get a cup of coffee and work in Houghton. Other places may have better coffee, or be quieter. But, Cyberia is the best cafe. Worthy of note - Plenty of sockets and free wifi - Great service and conversation. - Great value: food / price About the service -- 2 days before Christmas -- I ordered coffee and then realized I forgot my wallet. The woman behind the counter "loaned" me the cash until I could repay. A local man offered to buy it for me, which I politely turned down. This only exists in places like Houghton, it's special. This gave me a reason to stop by on Christmas eve. read more

So I have mixed feelings about cyberia and other cafe's in Houghton. If you find yourself a bit of a coffee snob then you most likely won't be pleased with the coffee itself. I personally am not a fan of coffee not made to order and that is instead sitting in carafe. They don't accept cards which I no longer find acceptable in 2016. Get a square reader already... During the summer months it can get HOT in there and the few times I decided to work from Cyberia they had a real fly problem going on. Flies were all over the place and they had strips hanging from the ceiling. It was annoying fighting to keep the flies off of my drink. However the fruit smoothies are really good and refreshing and I would recommend those to others. read more

They finally have a card reader! A great place to kick back and unwind. The staff is amazing and really nice. Cups of hot house coffee is under $2 and those have FREE REFILLS! They have amazing fraps and smoothies as well. To make their beverages even better they offer a punch card to get FREE drinks! Their wifi speed is great as well. I play World of Warcraft and Overwatch on my laptop there often and I have no issues. They also have an awesome trivia night with prizes. (You have to buy a beverage to play.) Don't worry if you don't know anyone else playing the people are always super friendly and know how to have a good time. if you're new to the area or a long time resident give this place a shot you'll have a great time and coffee. read more

My favorite coffee place in the Houghton/Hancock area. Great service, great atmosphere. I love chilling here. Never had any issues.

I owe this place some gratitude. We go to the UP on vacation every year and now stay in a small house that we inherited from my inlaws that has no internet connection. Every year I end up bringing work with me. I edit grants and articles--and they are hard to schedule. So--I haul my battered laptop into Cyberia, buy a coffee and a smoothy for my husband, and plug myself in. There are always plenty of outlets and good working surfaces. I've never felt disturbed by goings on. The culture of the place is easy going, pleasant and courteous. The coffee is good and the smoothies are good enough that my husband feels that he is getting a compensatory treat. Since I'm a diabetic on a low carb diet, there is really nothing for me to eat--but the pastries look good and I appreciate the assortment of great sugar-free syrup flavors when the aggravations of my work activate my sweet tooth. I never feel any pressure to speed it up and get out of there (except from my husband). Customers like me hardly generate a lot of profit, but the Cyberia folks are always gracious. I felt, at first, an impulse to give the place 3, rather than 5 stars--but I realized that this was entirely due to my annoyance at having to work on my vacation and had nothing to do with the place. Yes it's true, no credit cards accepted. But the coffee was very good and the service was friendly. The interior is open and airy, with a lot of seating to sip on your coffee and read the paper, or do some homework as most clientele appeared to be doing when I stopped in. Prices were quite high. I had one of the most rude/ignorant experiences I've had at a business in a long time. What I believe to be the owner was a complete snob and was mad about me and my girlfriend ordering our coffees. And the person behind us was complaining as well. Yes, we did order something that maybe did take a little more effort. Is that okay?! It's not like the line was out the door, we had two sets of people behind us, that's it. And to top it off, he, what I believe to be purposely, left my coffee and didn't give it to me until he finished everybody else's AND THEN PUT AWAY ALL OF THE MILK/CREAMERS ECT. I DIDNT GET MY COFFEE UNTIL AFTER I PAID AND GAVE HIM A GOOD TIP! NO CUSTOMER SERVICE IN SIGHT! Coffee was good and I've had it before. But this is a ridiculous amount of disrespect, I will 100% not be going to this "establishment" again. read more
