Skeptical of the reviews of my local Best Buy's Geek Squad and eager to hire a small, local…read morebusiness instead, I recently hired Beach Geeks to help me restore an old laptop and install a new hard drive I had purchased. David met me on my premises and came with all of the tools he needed and more. For instance, upon installing the hard drive, he had brought a device with him that extracted all of the files in my old hard drive and re-installed them into my new hard drive, and he installed Windows for me using a license key he brought (which was cheaper than the price I would've paid for Windows otherwise). He made the process so easy, and he thought of everything. He even checked in with me later on to ensure the laptop was running well and agreed to access my laptop remotely to help troubleshoot some issues I was still having. He stayed with me until it was running perfectly and all at no extra cost. After his additional troubleshooting, the laptop runs better than it did when I bought it brand new 5 years ago. Since my appointment with Beach Geeks, I have recommended them to my family members nearby and in other states, as his remote services allow him to assist with most troubleshooting issues from just about anywhere. If you want to be certain that a professional is handling your computer needs and that you have a knowledgeable tech that will go above and beyond to ensure that your needs are not only met but exceeded, look no further than Beach Geeks.

Granted, my laptop had been on its last legs for a while (I would go do other things while it woke up from hibernation). One afternoon, it just woudn't turn on. Oh shit! Guess who had backed nothing up? So I typed in "computer repair" into Yelp and this was the first non-Apple Store result. I will warn you, this place is not easy to get to without a car. It's in the middle of a residential neighborhood and required me to take a 20-minute ride on one of the16 series bus from either the Pentagon or Pentagon City Metro to get over here (I spared myself the Metro trek and just drove when I went to pick up my computer). Alex, the "chief geek" (his words, not mine) and owner, helped me out. He was very professional and helpful and even said he would try to fix my computer if possible, but only if it was cost-effective. He wasn't able to fix my computer, but was able to get all of my data off my hard drive. He also offered a free estimate (or rather, it went toward the cost of the data recovery) and recycled my old laptop free of charge. And he gave lots of good advice on what computer to buy next. I hope I won't actually need his services anytime soon, but I'd come back here in a heartbeat if I did. Even on the 16J.
