I was sent to this CVS to pick up a prescription they had in stock. I went up to the guy and he told me he would look for it. 30 minutes went by and no update. I go to ask him and he says they don't have it even though he clearly didn't look for it. Another 30 minutes goes by of me trying to get help and no one was helping. Finally the main pharmacist came over and helped me find it in less than a minute. The guy working the pharmacy wasted an hour of my time when he clearly didn't even try and was incredibly rude. read more

This CVS location is extremely convenient for the residents of Winthrop. it is located in Winthrop Center. Parking is easy. They have photo service and a pharmacy. The clerks are extra helpful and friendly. The store is always clean and well stocked. They have an ATM inside the store. I give this CVS location a Solid 5 Stars. read more

I will be switching to Amazon Pharmacy first thing Monday. Every single visit to this CVS results in at least two additional trips due to prescriptions never being ready on time. It's incredibly frustrating and inconvenient.I've never had a relationship with a chain that makes me so upset so consistently. The staff, including both pharmacists and assistants, are consistently rude and unhelpful. Rather than providing any sort of assistance or apologies, they act as if customers are an inconvenience.Additionally, the cleanliness of this location is poor. The trash barrels in the parking lot are often overflowing, adding to the overall negative experience.In short, the level of service at this CVS pharmacy is unacceptable. I would strongly advise finding another location if you value your time and expect basic courtesy and efficiency. read more

I went to CVS pharmacy in Winthrop MA with one of my very good friends who is a black women. While browsing the makeup aisle she was racially profiled and accused of "contaminating" the makeup when she was simply looking at the foundation bottles. The staff then continued to follow her around the store while she was looking through the makeup products. I was surprised and disgusted witnessing this happen. The staff kept on persisting if she need any help when she had stated that she was simply fine and no help was needed. We both felt very uncomfortable and put all the things we planned to purchase back. We left shocked and embarrassed that my friend was targeted because of her race as I was never approached. I visited an Urgent Care with BIDMC a few days ago. The doctor sent in a prescription order to the CVS in Winthrop, MA. I have used this pharmacy before and was never really happy with the service. Yesterday, after I deliberately delayed my pickup for an hour and twenty minutes, the Rx was not ready. The cashier said she would expedite it with the pharmacist, and it would be ready in 20 minutes. An hour later it was not ready. I complained to the non-cashier at the far end of the counter. She said she would talk to the pharmacist. About 20 minutes later I was called to pick it up. I gave my CVS Health Card to the cashier to get a small discount. (Insurance did not cover it) I was then told she could not do that at the register there, but I had to go back the apparently cranky woman at the end of the counter to do the discount. She tried several times on her computer, but it didn't work. Then she said there was another way to get this discount. She took another 10 minutes to try that procedure, but that didn't work either. Finally, I said to forget it and headed back to the cashier that I thought had my Rx. She didn't. The pharmacist had it for some reason to update the record on the script because of the cranky woman's fiddling and diddling with the discount card. Another 5 minutes passed. Finally, an hour and a half after I entered the store I paid for the medication. I looked at the young kid that was waiting on me. She stared at me. No apology for my long wait, and, typical for these days, did not say thank you for my purchase. This experience wasn't the first like it for me either. The store is incredibly warm to borderline hot. I do not feel good about buying food here because of this. The staff is generally friendly and probably not paid enough. My main problem with this store is the trash in the parking lot that has become an issue for all of the homes located near this location. For the past 3 years I have watched the trash problem at CVS become a major concern. It started after the prior manager left. The former manager would have the parking lot cleared twice a week of all liter and trash, as well as a trash barrel by the back entrance. Once he left the trash barrel was taken away and no company came in to clean the debris and trash. I have complained to CVS and one time they sent someone in to clean up the trash. My other attempts have been ignored. Why can't CVS pick up their trash and add a trash barrel to their rear entrance? The current situation is disgusting. read more

If I could avoid using this store I would, sadly it's within walking distance. The paharmacy is constantly making me wait. My script could have been there for 3 days and it still won't be ready. Get this I go to the pharmacy, to pick something up. I am on break from work so they said 10 minutes even though it said 9am pick up. That's okay I'll come back I told myself. 6pm I walk back to the store and what do they tell me... we're out of that med. oh and we can't send it to another cvs. Basically incompetent staff that has no idea what they are doing. At this time, I feel an update to one/1 star is warranted. On 10/30/22 went to get my flu shot, been going there since 2020 Pandemic for it. Tech was nice and efficient when it came to injection itself but rushing and told me they did not have my information. I gave her my card and she said it was the wrong card. So I told her I would pay out of pocket for it b/c I was with my elderly mom and could not go back home to search for the script card that should be on file for the last two/2 years and plus I registered all the info. online. To note the clerk/tech told me they don't have access...which puzzled me. And so back to MGH flu clinic I will go in fall 2023. Today 11/13/22, I went to get something and to buy Russell Stover candy b/c a friend told my mom it was on sale and she likes to have a few for gifts, no sign and I asked a clerk--who deigned to answer and he said they were not on sale. Actually none of the holiday candy including the special Oreos/were even marked with regular prices. Check out was all self check out even though the clerk I asked seemed to be wandering--so I do not think it was a short staffing issue--why they haven't marked holiday stuff they put out the day after Halloween is a mystery. And not one flyer so no idea what if anything will be on sale! CVS bought out the competition our last indie store so yes I do hold it against them, and I feel like they have only gone downhill ever since. If I could give them 0 stars I would. I live in Winthrop and avoid this CVS at all costs. Today I needed to stop as I couldn't get to the one in East Boston. I got my purchase and was waiting in line a the front of the store at the opposite end of the pharmacy. There were two people in front of me, and elderly woman and then a gentleman with many items. As I was waiting in line there were 2 or 3 people arriving behind me. I stood there and listened to the cashier go on about how she was getting calls about her unemployment benefits and she kept telling them, "what benefits, I work" followed by her being very dismissive and unhelpful to the older woman who dared as her a question. Then after she finished with the elderly woman she looked at the line and said, "There is a self check out"! I decided to use it and then immediately regretted it as it was not giving me the buy one get one free option on my items. I hit the help button and she sighed and said, "Ill be right with you". I said it was ringing up correctly and she said I had to put in my CVS card. I told her I didn't have it with me and she said, "Then put in your phone number" and walked back to the counter and said loudly to the next person in line, "Evidently she is illiterate and doesn't know how to read". I put my purchase back down and told her in front of the other customers how rude she is only to get a too bad back. This store is HORRIBLE!!! I did tell someone back at the pharmacy that the woman up front is incredibly rude and shouldn't be dealing with the public and they didn't seem to care. Because I then needed to drive to Stop and Shop I didn't wait to ask to speak to a manager. Not sure it would matter regardless. If I have to go to CVS it will NEVER be this one. I have never seen such a poorly run CVS in my entire life. Don't offer scheduled flu shots, have customers make the appointment, and then have them wait 30 mins only to over hear from another customer that they are out. This place is OK, it has everything a typical CVS would. Susan who works at the photo lab is always pleasant, she has been working there for many years. These people cared! Today I was running in Winthrop and tripped on the sidewalk (a shock as I consider myself a good runner). I was pretty scraped up and there was a good amount of blood. As I'm new to the area I didn't know where to go, but saw signs for the business district of Winthrop. As I hobbled through town, I saw nothing open as it is Labor Day. But, CVS was! I went to the pharmacy and just asked if I could use their restroom (I had no money with me). The girl at the counter came around and saw the blood and immediately offered bandaids. She showed me a chair and gave me some hydrogen peroxide and bandaids. The CVS employees kept passing me and showed tremendous care and concern. At the end, a lady at CVS gave me a bottle of water which helped me even continue on with my run (I was determined to reach the water!). I really appreciated the help here! read more

Repeated terrible experiences with this pharmacy. The medications my children take are routinely out of stock, and the pharmacy never communicates to me timely. They do not follow up and no one is held accountable. They also once refilled my medication with the wrong drug! You are better off going to East Boston in Saratoga drive. I am sorry that lady was not happy with the CVS in Winthrop. I am not from Winthrop but when I come visit my son and his family, I shop at that store. Just today I realized that I had forgotten to bring all of my medical needs and my husband called the Pharmacist and he was very helpful. My daughter-in-law shops there practically on a daily basis and frankly she would be the absolute best person to advertise on the CVS commercials as that being her CVS. That is no tall Texan tale! The store is always out of essential inventory. The cashiers judge you if you don't have your card or, know a phone number to someone else's card which...what? The pharmacy is a joke. The reviewer from 2009 has a point that still holds true in 2016, the young lady at the pharmacy is miserable. I get an evil eye from someone behind the pharmacy counter every time I enter the store. When in error, they still take no accountability or, apologize for their mistake. Their phone etiquette is poor. The one saving grace is Danielle who manages the pharmacy and, corrected the error made to its fruition. I do appreciate that. Since the poster in 2009 the Belle Isle CVS has opened, while their shelves are equally bare, I have never been made to feel unwelcome there and will use them solely going forward. I found Jackie to be the best reason that this CVS even stays open. The previous reviewer must have been hung over. I find her kind caring and helpful. A rare treat and one who gets what service means. The store is designed wrong with the pharmacy at the door so every transaction practically goes through the pharmacy unlike every other cvs in the country. the store is old small and poorly designed but people like Jackie keep people going there instaed of the new one less than 1/2 a mile away. read more

I used to live near the CVS in Porter Square - which I loved. It was open 24 hours and the staff and management were impeccable. This CVS is so subpar it has made me cry on occasion. Nice people (for the most part) - but very poorly managed. Let's start with the pharmacy...one day - they are helping me get over the counter stuff written as prescription so I'm not taxed on it (thoughtful, right?) and the next day I'm literally having an asthma attack and they are making me wait for my refill. There is a couple that works in the pharmacy - the (male) pharmacist is great and his wife who is some kind of manager in the pharmacy is also delightful - but even she gave me a hard time on the phone one day. Its too much to get into - but I had to explain that even though my prescription said no refills - it had come in THAT DAY - and was to be filled - once and only once for the first time. You picking up what I'm saying here? Then there is this sour puss lady (heavy and young) in the pharmacy. She is mean for no good reason and I have NEVER seen this woman smile. She makes me feel bad about living - and is VERY rude to my husband and I. I'm of the "Kill 'em with kindness" school - and usually something will get through to the person with a smile...nothing on this girl. Now the photo folks. There is a cool hippie lady who does the pictures - but overall the machines just suck and if she isn't there to help you - FORGET IT. Its not that the other staff aren't capable - they really just need to replace the machines. Ok - now on the registers - we've got some more good people...all generally very nice. Here is the problem - this CVS is a hang out for Winthrop children. After school - the kids throw their bags (I imagine at one time - shoplifting was an issue). My child and I had to leave CVS because there were too many people in the store! These kids weren't shopping - they were socializing! I realize that management has to be nice "or else" - but there must be a better way. PRAISE JESUS that the new CVS is opening in Eastie at Belle Isle pretty soon. I hear a rumor that its going to be 24 hours. For the manager of this CVS in Winthrop - it is NOT that difficult to ask people to do their job well - and clean that pharmacy up. read more
