Dont get me wrong I understand it may cost them. But come on. .50 cents plus state tax AND the tax they charge 55cents. For a 99cents a black and mild Jazz at the store is $1.55? I'm sorry, there is no way that's legal. Anything bought under $5 on debit has a 55cent tax. I use debit and credit cards everywhere and I've NEVER been charged so much. I've seen them charge customers different prices higher prices than what's posted. Most of the items dont have pricing on the so they can charge you 100-400% more. Unfortunately this is the closest local store that I can go to since I dont drive, yet, but weather permitted I will ride my bike to a further store. They have a lot of unhappy customers which is probably why one of their window was smashed out .....I DO NOT CONDONE VIOLENCE OR DAMAGING SOMEONE PROPERTY AT ALL, but I guess karma is a bitch after all. There are definitely regulars and it was very busy when I was there (~8:30 PM on a Thursday). Heads up that if you use a credit card, you'll be charged a fee for each transaction. If you want a drink, this is the place. Holy cannoli, it's like 80% beverages! But I went on this night to try Jay's Kitchen, since I'd heard some rave reviews. I had the manto (chicken dumplings smothered in yogurt sauce and topped with lentils, $12.99) and my fiancee had the chicken makhani ($11.99). I also got a bolani for each of us. Jay was super friendly and said it would be about 15 minutes. It was closer to 30 minutes, but it was okay. My fiancee's makhani was pretty sweet, but flavorful. She didn't like it, though. The bolani ($2.50) were good to try, but not our cup of tea. My manto had good flavor, but I didn't think it had enough of the yogurt sauce and I wouldn't get it again. I wish that Jay had said what the sauces he gave on the side were and what to put them on. Overall, I'm glad that we tried Jay's food and would probably have something else (like a gyro or sub), but likely won't go out of our way.

Dream Town was the right spot for that during my stay in Rochester. Words to describe this place would include bright, clean, halal, friendly, variety. You have lots of breakfast options, and breakfast sandwiches can be either on regular rolls or sub rolls. But they also have a nice selection of grocery options, and their "wall o'Pringles" was amazing." So... cheaper than a restaurant, and fresher and better than the equivalent at a breakfast chain restaurant... what's not to like?

Decent gas prices, with an additional discount if you sign up for their Fastrac customer loyalty card... I don't know why I haven't signed up for their rewards card... must be my ADD! Even WITHOUT the card, the Fastrac prices are pretty low. Hess must be losing a fair amount of their customers to them... the convenience part of the store is bright & claen, and they carry a wide variety of items, including RIT gear and other swag. I was surprised to see that they also carry less typical items (like Rorbach growlers). Well worth a stop... sure beats the local competition.
