I arrived at this CVS pharmacy at 1:29 PM, one minute before their 1:30 lunch break, to pick up a prescription I urgently needed for severe pain. There was no one else in line. I politely asked if they could please take me before closing and explained that I was in pain. Instead of showing any compassion, the staff ignored me, refused to make eye contact, and completely dismissed me. I understand that employees need and deserve lunch breaks, but this is supposed to be a healthcare setting, and a little kindness goes a long way. It would have taken less than a minute to hand me my prescription and let me leave. Compassion and professionalism should never depend on the clock. What makes this worse is that I know another CVS location has helped someone I know when they made a scene right before lunch. That proves flexibility exists when they choose to use it. Had two prescriptions sent over. One was filled and another needed approval. Approval was given and waited a couple days for script to be filled. No word, so I went down to get the filled prescription and inquire on the delay for the other. Apparently they had "no record" of the second script even though they told me previously it needed approval. Script sent to Costco and filled same day. My favorite cvs to visit whenever I'm in Staten Island visiting my boyfriend. They have a good selection and great sales. They replaced most of their cashiers with the automated ones. However if I need assistance they have staff walking around. I have no complaints, except maybe the parking lot is small so it's hard to maneuver the car. read more

SCAM ALERT. DISHONEST. RIPPED ME OFF. I have an Extracare card. I walked down while my husband was in pain and purchased some ibuprofen, buy one get one 50% off. At checkout I gave the cashier my Extracare card, the ibuprofen came up on the screen as buy one get one 50% off, and the cashier even commented "Oh, you get 50% off one!" I paid, shoved the receipt in my bag, walked home as fast as I could back to my MIL's apartment to get the ibuprofen to my husband, and then my phone dinged. CVS emailed me a receipt. NO DISCOUNT. Looked at my paper receipt. NO DISCOUNT. Today is the day before Thanksgiving. I don't have time for this shit. I tried to access my account online and it can't find my email address even though I clicked the damn link through email so I can't access my account. SCAMMERS! read more

I recently had an excellent experience at this pharmacy thanks to a woman helping me named Alicia. I had needed a Rx filled quickly that was called in by my doctor. Alicia went out of her way to help me and keep me informed. There was an issue but it was NOT CVS's fault. Thank you so much for going above and beyond at a time I really need it. Worst pharmacy ever. Constant line. Never enough workers in pharmacy and the ones that are there are over worked and have bad attitudes as a result. Always a problem filling your prescription. Either they are out of the drug or they don't enter your insurance right so you pick up a Rx that should cost you $5 and they tell you it's $150. Save yourself some aggravation & Unless you have to deal with this chain do not! They give you no customer service in the store and then you get bombarded with emails, texts, and phone calls asking to refill anything you ever filled there. You know what you're getting when you go to the store. Don't expect personalized service, friendly staff, or well stocked shelves. The parking lot is also abysmal. I switched my prescriptions to a local store down the block, and they're ready in five minutes flat. I always wondered why does it take 45 minutes to put 20 pills in an orange bottle. read more

The CVS store located at 501 Forest Avenue is a complete disaster. I'm not sure why this is but the entropic environment has survived a number of manager changes and appears to be here to stay, like fungus beneath a toe nail. Years ago I used to drop off film to be developed. On numerous occasions I would pick up my photos and find the negatives had finger prints embedded in the emulsion (impossible to remove), had scratches and dents and often had been cut badly, in one case in the middle of a frame. I didn't cry when they stopped developing film as I had long since given up. The pharmacy is also a unique experience. One example might illustrate the point: recently I received a text stating that a prescription my doctor had called in was ready. I went to pick it up and it had disappeared. No one could find a trace of it - in fact the staff insisted my doctor had not called. I went home and called the doc again. He was adamant he had called it in but did so a second time. A short time later I got a second text. And a second wasted trip. Returning home, I called CVS corporate to complain. The pharmacy called me soon after - they had found my script. Apparently they had filed it under my last name properly but for my first name they used the diminutive (Tom) rather than the formal (Thomas). I pointed out that, as they use the date of birth as an index, my last name and dob should have been enough (not to mention that all of the scripts for G are filed in the G section of their storage bin!) They yielded my point but had no explanation for the foulup. Now, this past weekend I placed an order for custom greeting cards using the online tool to create the card and place the order. I got an immediate order confirmation. An hour later I got an email stating that my order was ready for pickup. I went to 501 and picked up my order. It was at that point that the photo tech told me that she had no A7 (5x7) envelopes whatsoever. I asked why they had accepted an order they couldn't fill, after all I ordered cards AND envelopes. No explanation. I asked why no one had called, emailed or texted me to indicate there was an issue. No explanation. The manager said: "we're doing the best we can." and told me that she would have some envelopes in a week. That left no time to mail out any cards. I complained to corporate which was an exercise in futility as they directed me back to the store in question - who tried to call around to other stores in a fruitless attempt to find a CVS that had extra envelopes. No luck. And so I ordered some envelopes from Staples not even bothering to try to get a refund or partial refund from CVS - even though I noticed some of the cards were damaged, apparently overheated as they bubbled up near the right border. All of this led me to the conclusion that this store is to be avoided. Why? Well, I think Albert Einstein summed it up: "Probleme kann man niemals mit derselben Denkweise lösen, durch die sie entstanden sind." My local pharmacy. The pharmacy is open til 10pm and there usually quick with your prescriptions and really helpful in how to take the medicine or the side effects of the medication. Its not really big but you can get your easy everyday things from shampoos, facial cleaners, toothpaste down to some cereal or snacks. I have a CVS rewards card which I LOVE because I end up getting so many coupons and even reward money to use towards my purchases and saves me some dollars. Also I enjoy that express register you do yourself, I always enjoyed hearing and scanning the items like I worked in a supermarket, I guess thats from the play sets I had as a child I always enjoy to do it again when I can now as adult. We all have a kid inside of us. The parking lot is small but theres pretty much always space and parking around the pharmacy. I enjoy coming here when needed and trust me I can drop an easy $50 here like I just found it crumbled in my pocket, LUCKY! read more

At times felt judged by pharmacists and many times was told that my meds were out of stock even though I called in advance, need refills every month, and was reassured they would continue to order.. very frustrating time after time again.
