True confessions, I came to this CVS specifically for their Halloween decorations. This CVS usually has a great selection of holiday decorations whether it is Halloween, Christmas, or Valentine's Day. And, I wasn't wrong...this CVS was stocked with some adorable talking pumpkins, scary ghouls, and light up skeletons. I ended up leaving with some Halloween candy. The selection was good, but the prices were too high. The staff is always nice and the store is clean and well organized. I am glad that I stopped by. read more

This is my go to CVS and we are here all the time to pickup our medication. But coming here often did not make someone a fan The 1 star is only for the convenience of being open late. The rest of the experience is rather negative due to some of the fact reasons that I could list: 1. Try calling the store to get a status on my prescription can be a gigantic waste of time. It's better to drive here and ask someone in person - this will be much quicker - trust me on this! 2. On the crunch and want to pickup your medication during normal daytime hours? Forget this and do something else - maybe try yoga coz the pickup-medication-in-a-jiffy will take you much longer than the time you have - trust me again on this!! 3. If, for some reason, you have a paper prescription, and drop it off at the counter, and they tell you to wait for 20 minutes, BEWARE, that it may actually take an hour to get the medication For me, I go to CVS for the following reasons: 1. Bought lashes last week on a whim but found another pair from somewhere else. The other CVS by Whole Foods I tried to return there but my card chip was failing and told me that the Cvs that I brought them from should have receipts in the database. So I went back to cabin John CVs return without my receipt but the associate manager was being a jerk and rude. And basically telling me that they couldn't look it up. Also not sure if he was under something because during this whole ordeal he was having some type of shakes. But if you're an associate manager I would think that the customer service skills would be better. read more

This pharmacy is outstanding. A friend was having trouble getting his prescriptions filled. I took my friend to Abdul and introduced my friend. Abdul found a way to work with my friend's insurance and we were able to leave with the medication my friend needed without my friend having to private pay. Abdul is great. read more

Terrible service. I came in 9/22/24 at 11:10pm to purchase some coffee drinks. I selected ones which were on sale. I brought it up to the self check out and proceeded to check out. It didn't register the sale price. There were three employees working: one lady stocking and two men at the only open register. One of the men came over and tried to help me. He could not, and requested I get in line at the register to check out to get the sale price. Then the two men proceeded to spend the next 15 minutes flirting with a female customer ahead of me. They were all laughing and giggling like 12 year old girls for over 10 minutes. There was also another customer having trouble with her self check out and needed assistance. Yet, they saw us waiting, ignored us, and continue with their flirting. No one wants to be waiting around when it's midnight. I gave up and left. read more

I picked up medicine for my child yesterday. The doctor has confirmed that the order has been sent to this CvS. It used to be smooth. But yesterday, the pharmacy gave me an order for October 2nd (for unused medicine). After I discovered the problem, they argued that they had not received the doctor's order. My doctor called them to confirm and they knew the name right away but they said they didn't receive the order. Serious dereliction of duty. I made an appointment to get vaccinated today. There are plenty of pharmacies in the area that operate at a far higher quality than this one. Take your business there. They changed my prescriptions from what the surgeon had ordered, didn't say a word about it to me, then were extremely rude and unprofessional when I asked why it was changed. Had to go back to pick up the correct prescription right after a major surgery. Their pharmacists overall are rude and not engaged in helping patients. read more

The customer service and organization/cleanliness of this store is superb!! I went to this location because I verified that they take passport photos (beware: all locations do not take passport photos due to lack of equipment). Everyone I encountered was so friendly and helpful...and my picture was taken within minutes after arriving. I browsed the beauty aisle as I waited for my pictures to print, and was surprised to discover Clarins, Dermalogica, Peter Thomas Roth, Vinchy, Pixi, and Caudalie!!! And no, these are not just random names that Ive listed. They are some of the beauty/skin care leading brands...and normally I would have to go to a major department store or Sephora to get access to these brands!! Prices are comparable to other locations, and organization of the products are impeccable! They have both counter check out and self serve check out; and there's an employee at the kiosk that is available to help, and assist in moving the line along. Absolutely, Highly recommend this store. BTW-Parking is plenty...as its located with cabin john shopping center! read more

I'm so grateful that there are pharmacies open 24 hours a day. I had a prescription I needed to get filled. It was 12:10 am on a Tuesday. I tried calling ahead to speak with a pharmacy technician but didn't get anyone over the phone. I drove to the pharmacy, hoping that they were really open 24 hours, even with COVID. Thankfully, I filled my prescription, got it in my hands within less than 5 minutes, and drove home. Thank you, CVS! read more

I was just in there to have passport pictures taken for my child. Took them, chose the option to "print in seconds", stood in line to pay and the cashier asked where are the pictures? Never printed! The lady behind me in line said that the same thing happened to her and she was informed by another cashier to reprint them but choose "the hour" version instead and since there is no queue for that, it will be instant. Sounds like a reasonable solution. So I informed the cashier and the other person who was watching self checkout that this lady had the SAME issue and was told to do this instead. So can I do the same thing????? I was told no and that the printer was being fixed so I should wait and get my pictures soon. Two people, same time, same issue, one is given a quick and reasonable solution YET, I am told I can't have said solution but I have to wait. So I waited for 30 minutes with my kids including an agitated and exhausted toddler. Watching their "operational manager" working on the printer. Watching the printer then print everything in queue till it reaches my pictures. The others printed in queue prior wasn't even collected cause they were already given the other solution, picked them up instantly and had left!!!!! I am baffled by either the blatant racism since we have different skin colors or just incompetence on finding an efficient solution (which obviously someone did find a solution but only offered it to one customer). It's absolutely disgusting that CVS would treat two customers at the same time so differently. Will gladly be taking my business to another company moving forward. read more

I agree with Joy B., as we received nothing but great customer service upon entry, during & exiting. My visit here was by default as my go to location's Pharmacy was closed & I was in desperate need of some Alleve-D. By the time I cross the threshold of the automatic doors, I got greeted by three Cashiers, a few seconds later got greeted again by a floor/stocking employee & asked if I need any assistance. Once I made my way to the Pharmacy, Amir the Pharmacy Technician said hello, & was cordial & appreciative to everyone in line for their patience. Even with that long line, he took the time out to give me some helpful hints & offered the Pharmacist to speak with me if I had any further questions or concerns. I did ask the Pharmacist a question that had noting to do with my non-allergy proactivity, yet got some good remedies for being sunburned. It's very rare that I make pit stops while shopping at CVS, yet pleased to see how well the Ladies Restroom was in order. At an unexpected CVS run at 10:30pm midweek, nothing but positive comments. & if you're not an Extra Care member do sign up, spend your money & get your rewards, it's worth it. read more

I've been coming to this pharmacy for most of my life, but over the last few years, the service has massively declined. As many of you know, I am a transgirl, and my current legal name does not match my preferred name. There are also multiple people in my family, and many of us have pick ups at the same time. Why am I mentioning this? Well I have been forced to reveal my dead name to go pick up my hormones, every time so they know which one is picking up. When I've asked if they can keep a preferred name on file, they said it wasn't legal. More recently, I've had a lot of issues with getting a hold of the right syringes, which they've always carried. Now I do understand that inventory changes, but my orders have been put through your pharmacy. I would imagine it would not be that hard to order in more of the barrels, especially as it is a very common size for hormonal injections. Since these incidents, I have looked into switching to Safeway. I regret that I must make this switch, however with the lack of privacy and lack of inventory, Safeway has proven to have better options on both (I.e only requiring birthday and last name, not legal first name, and a consistent inventory) If these changes are made, then I may be willing to return, but I doubt I shall be. read more

Yesterday, I called my doctor about a very uncomfortable condition which I had developed. My doctor sent a prescription in to the CVS Pharmacy on Tuckerman Lane at about 5:PM. When I got to the pharmacy around 9 PM, I was told, after waiting 20 minutes for service, that there was no such prescription for me. So today I called the doctor again, and he was very accommodating. He sent in the prescription again, And this time I received a notification that the prescription was available for me. The only thing was was that the date on the prescription was April 22nd, the same date on which I had been told that the pharmacy had no prescription for me at all. Clearly, this pharmacy is challenged when it comes to keeping track of the prescriptions which are sent in. There are several different CVS pharmacies in the area. I recommend that you not use the one on Tuckerman Lane. read more

Showed up for them to tell me they never got it and despite my evidence on my phone of my appointment being at that location at the specific time I arrived, they refused to see me and told me the next available time was two days from then. This is the most incompetent CVS pharmacy I have ever been to. I scheduled a flu vaccine at 4:30. It was a zoo. 4:45 came around, and I heard people talking about how they had vaccine appointments at 3:15 and 4:00 and they hadn't been seen yet. Being over an hour behind schedule, I figured there was no way I was going to be seen, and I left. An hour later, I got an email saying they needed to reschedule (very helpful 1.25 hours after my scheduled appointment). Stupidly, I made another appointment at this place for 9pm that evening. I received a confirmation email, and when I brought it to the counter, they said I wasn't in the system and they couldn't give me the vaccine. I asked if they could honor it since I had a confirmation email and it was obviously a problem with their system. The answer was no, and that if I had a problem with how their system works I should contact CVS corporate. How is their non-functional system my problem? Between driving and waiting, they've now wasted at least an hour of my time today, and not even an apology for their total incompetence. I would never go back. read more

Today, I went at 1pm to pick up a prescription. Long line of people (more than 10). When I got to the desk, I was told to wait 20 minutes, which I did. When I returned, I was told to wait again. At that point I decided to leave and give them time to catch up. I returned around 4:30. Again, I waited in a long line and was told it wasn't ready and to come back in 20 minutes. I decided to leave and come back later. At 7pm, same story - long line, not ready. I figured I would kill some time and ate dinner in the mall. I returned at 8:10 pm and the line was longer. There were two people ahead of me at the counter who expressing dismay with the desk personnel about how long it was taking. I personally spoke to a person with a badge that said Manager of Customer Operations (or similar) and he complained that "they had changed the system - it was not at the store level - and that people keep coming in even though their prescriptions aren't ready" (ok, maybe you can read some sense into that). When I got to the counter again, the prescription wasn't ready. The store manager was helping to man the pick-up counter. I told the manager this was simply poor management. People having to wait 7 hours for a prescription to be filled are certainly going to be upset. I definitely pushed the issue and within 2 minutes I had my prescription in hand. I felt bad for the people who were less assertive, especially the elderly. Most of the time we are asked by our doctors where the prescription should be sent. Be smart and suggest the Walgreens in Potomac or some other pharmacy than the CVS in Cabin John. read more

Not a rant or a rave, just a simple warning not to use the pharmacy at this CVS. I switched over to Harris Teeter after the havoc this weekend. Skip to the last paragraph if you just want the summary. Here's the rant: the absolute worst part of my experience is with the pharmacy staff. The person named Mercy in previous reviews would rather put you on hold for 30 minutes rather than deal with your call in hopes you'll hang up. The two ladies who work the front desk who managed to lose 6 refills on my prescription claiming there was only 1 refill left; then, backtracking and saying now there was none. Refusing to look at the original prescription even after I spent the day tracking down my provider who prescribed it in the first place to verify there were refills on it left. Refusing to look under a different profile (they have 3 profiles for me for some reason due to address changes rather than consolidate). After telling me I had no refills left, I went home and checked the last prescription I got from them. Lo and behold refills were available as stated on the label. I regret transferring my prescription to them after having similarly difficult experience with another CVS when I was in college. Terribly irresponsible, untrained staff who would rather tell a blatant lie than search on their system and then put you on hold for 30 minutes. (Really? Due to confusion, I was incorrectly charged $300 for a vaccine at the Pharmacy. Axel Garay (Manager) worked tirelessly with me to resolve this issue with my insurance. When they said they will not cover it, Axel refunded me a fair amount back to my card. He is very responsive, very attentive and an overall great person. He is the best store manager I have ever encountered. He has single handedly made me a lifelong customer at CVS Pharmacy. I was never a huge fan of the way CVS operates but after working with Axel, I will never use another pharmacy or store for the items available at CVS, especially his specific store. read more

This cvs is too busy ALL THE TIME. After all these years and a remodel they still don't have enough people working. They need to add two more drop off counters and staff the four pick up registers with four people not two. ( what's the point of having empty registers and a long line?) Get it together this cvs, your managers are still not doing you justice. Do anything to avoid this cvs for pharmacy until they wake up and hire more staff. They need one person alone to answer the phone too! You can wait 25 min on the phone and still no one can pick up the phone. I feel sorry for these employees. Came in for a flu shot. Approached the kiosk; wait was 62 mins. I came at 10:02, 2 mins after open. I signed in and finally got my flu shot at 12:31. Once I was done, kiosk wait time was 124 min. Horrible service!!!! They also reserve a special time for lunch break, 1:00-1:30, and they intentionally have to make it very obvious. An appointment is reserved for "LUNCH BREAK." They also put a sticky note on the kiosk: "We will be closed from 1:00 to 1:30 PM for a lunch break. :)" I will never come back to this CVS even if I had to go to one 20 miles away instead. Finally, I would like to say that I would give them 0 stars if possible. They don't even deserve 1 star!!!! read more

I went to the Minut Clinic today at this CVS for a flu shot. At ten minutes to 2:00, the wait time chart showed that my appointment would be in 23 minutes. I was of course asked to wait outside until it was time for me to be called. In fact, they were not ready for me until 2:35. The reason for this is that a customer in line before me, who had signed up as a single person, brought three children with him who, although he had scheduled no appointments for them, were served out of turn. This practice is very disrespectful of the time of other patients who expected to be served in turn. read more

This is my neighborhood pharmacy and also the closest ppl under my insurance. While I have no complaints about the store in general, the pharmacy has had major problems for years. They have tried to fix the problems, but apparently they do not know how. Every time I go to pick up prescriptions there is a line. Sometimes it is short, but most of the time it is long and the wait is long. Also, every other person on the line has a problem that seems to take 10 to 20 minutes to resolve, which further holds up the line, while the cashiers help them. In addition, walk-ins who decide to wait are called to the front of the line when their prescription is ready, and are served ahead of those who called in and have been waiting on line. The wait is sometimes so long that I have to leave because I cannot stand in line any more due to pao in my back. You have been warned! read more

In fact, I have given up on this store - and CVS - because of my experience with this store. In the last 6 attempts I've made over period of months to find out if they had a particular brand medication in stock, the phone system answered saying all pharmacy personnel are with other customers and will be with you; and then was put on hold. In each instance, waited on hold between 5-10 minutes - and no one picked up. That recording kept playing during that period. Why would anyone want to do business with a pharmacy - or any retailer like that - who has so little regard for its customers time and good will. read more

Worst pharmacist ever! Came here after I had an appointment for my son's booster at the CVS in Chevy chase and the system wasn't updated so they couldn't give him the shot. This pharmacist considered him a walk in and "wasn't taking any more walk ins". The soma giving vaccines, Lisa, was even more rude. What is up with this CVS ? Why does every employee say hello and goodbye to every customer that walks in the door. It is annoying to be benignly yet continually assaulted by their verbal greetings. Additionally the music is at a level that a brick wall would find loud. This might be all tolerated if the pharmacy staff acted like they were there to perform a service and not serve a prison term. My doctor electronically submitted my prescription information to the pharmacy at approximately 10:45 a.m. My pharmacy receipt says the promised time was 11:26 a.m. I roll in there about 11:15 (I wasn't told what the promised time was and it had been about 30 minutes since the pharmacy had my prescription -- two widely prescribed and common products). Want to know when I actually got my extremely basic antibiotic prescription? 12:30 p.m. MORE THAN ONE HOUR AFTER THE ALREADY GENEROUS PROMISED TIME. Everyone in here moves SLOOOOOOW and they didn't seem concerned at all when they make sick customers wait an extra 45 minutes to an hour. It wasn't busy. They provided customers who arrived after me with their prescriptions before me. When I was given my prescription, I wasn't provided any advice as to how to take it. The pharmacy clerk asked for my birth date and I told her in numbered format. She replied, "So August?" She was off by a quarter of a year. My impression (reinforced by the inordinate amount of time it required her to verify the information on my license) was that she didn't understand numbers very well. Accuracy, competence, and efficiency are important to a pharmacy, no? Everyone moved like they were stuck in molasses. The clerk at the front cash register couldn't find UPC codes so I helped him out. He then slooooooowly took one item and placed it slooooooowly in a bag. Then ever soooo slowly reached for the next item. I don't know if everyone is high, but it was like the scene from that animated kids' movies where the sloths are running the DMV. I gathered up the items myself and threw them in the bag before anymore time was wasted. I've never seen people move so slow and have no idea how to do their jobs. I understand people have to work and find jobs but you're putting people's lives at risk if you're not an accurate and competent pharmacy worker. I would't be surprised if this place gets sued for negligent prescription or making a careless error when providing medicine. In any case, consider yourself warned. This place is an incompetent dumpster fire slooooowly floating down the river. Avoid at all costs. read more
