Always been my neighborhood pharmacy for the past 18 years. Nice friendly place. Easy access to minor things you may need at a pharmacy.

It was my first time seriously couponing, and the staff stocking shelves were incredibly patient helping me locate items. I scanned everything through the CVS app before putting it in my cart to make sure the coupons attached correctly. One employee with bright red lipstick was especially encouraging and genuinely cheered me on while I was figuring everything out. Those interactions made me feel welcome and excited to learn. I will say that I hate how much merchandise is locked up at this location. I understand why stores do it, especially in the city, but needing assistance every time you want a basic item gets frustrating quickly. That said, the employees who helped unlock items were polite and helpful. The real problems started at checkout. I had carefully planned three transactions so I could roll ExtraBucks rewards between purchases. My first transaction should have earned $19 in ExtraBucks, but only $11 appeared. Several digital coupons that showed as attached in the app didn't apply at checkout either. I also had qualifying items for one of the spend-threshold promotions, but the reward never triggered despite the shelf tags clearly advertising it. While I was trying to figure out what happened, another customer standing nearby told me she had experienced similar issues at this same store and had stopped trying to use the promotions because rewards frequently failed to appear in her account. Hearing that made me wonder whether this was a larger problem than simple user error. Then I had an interaction with an employee named Marion that turned an annoying situation into an awful one. I was trying to explain exactly what I had done, including how I scanned every item through the app beforehand to verify the coupons attached. I couldn't get through a complete sentence without being interrupted. Instead of listening, she repeatedly told me I was wrong and insisted ExtraBucks are only issued at the end of the month. This may have been my first time couponing, but it was not my first time shopping at CVS, and I knew that wasn't how ExtraBucks generally work. The conversation got increasingly uncomfortable. At one point she told me to retrieve coupons from the self-checkout receipt bin and repeatedly implied that I was causing problems because I didn't understand the system. What upset me most was the implication that I might be stealing items, despite the fact that I had carefully scanned everything and was actively trying to verify my purchases. It wasn't until I requested a full refund and she scanned every item in my bag against my receipt that the suggestion disappeared. I would never intentionally steal from a store, and being treated as though I might was humiliating. Even at the end of the interaction, the tone remained condescending. I fully understood that returned purchases wouldn't generate ExtraBucks rewards. The issue wasn't that I expected rewards after a refund. The issue was that the advertised rewards and coupons didn't work correctly in the first place. I know retail is difficult. I know coupon transactions can be complicated. I went into the conversation expecting some confusion and maybe even a little frustration while we worked through it. What I didn't expect was to be repeatedly interrupted, talked down to, treated with suspicion, and made to feel like I was wasting everyone's time for asking reasonable questions. The kind employees on the sales floor deserve recognition because they were genuinely helpful. Unfortunately, the checkout experience completely overshadowed that goodwill. I left feeling embarrassed, frustrated, and convinced that I won't be returning to this location.

I love Target, and the Chestnut Street Philadelphia location is a prime example of how a major…read moreretail brand can adapt to city living without losing what makes it great. I grew up visiting Target in the suburbs, so discovering this location in Philadelphia immediately felt familiar. It maintains the brand's accessibility and comfort while smartly adapting to city life. The store is consistently clean, bright, organized, and well-stocked. The staff is friendly and helpful, the grocery selection is genuinely fresh, and the overall experience feels thoughtful and efficient. What Target does especially well is discernment. The product mix feels curated rather than crowded, with a smart balance of affordability, quality, and style across groceries, home goods, essentials, and private-label products. Their app also stands out, particularly the real-time inventory tools that make pickup and delivery seamless. More broadly, Target is one of the few major retailers that has preserved the strengths of brick-and-mortar shopping while still evolving for modern life. I suspect part of that comes from the company's Minnesota roots and the strong Scandinavian influence embedded in the culture there. You can feel it in the stores: clean layouts, restrained design, thoughtful presentation, efficiency paired with warmth, and an emphasis on functionality without sacrificing quality. It stands apart from most big-box retail in America. The Chestnut Street location embodies that philosophy perfectly. Similar to what brands like Barnes & Noble and Bloomingdale's have done with their urban stores, Target has adapted away from oversized suburban formats in certain city environments without sacrificing the core experience. The nearby location by the Barnes Foundation is excellent as well. It's larger than the Chestnut Street store but not a sprawling mega store, making it especially well-suited for city living while still offering a broader inventory and the convenience of free parking. Both locations feel like thoughtful adaptations of the traditional suburban retail model rather than watered-down versions. As parents, we've also been consistently impressed by Target's private-label products. Their diapers, formula, yogurt pouches, peanut butter, dairy products, pasta, and other everyday essentials have all been of excellent quality at prices meaningfully lower than those of many national brands. Target's Philadelphia stores demonstrate how thoughtful, adaptable retail can succeed in urban environments while preserving the core values that built customer loyalty in the first place. Highly recommended!

I just experienced (2/5/23) the rudest & most unprofessional interaction with the pharmacy. I will…read moretransfer my RX & will not patronize this location ever again. Their overall low star Yelp rating is appropriate- I will look into an independent pharmacy to no longer patronize CVS at all. I called at 1:14 pm to refill a Rx. The tech said 1 hr. She heard my disappointment & asked if I was already there . I stated I was a a couple blocks away, she said to come in 20 minutes. The call lasted 4 minutes, so she said this at approximately 1:18 pm. thus summoning me at 1:38 pm. At 1:40 pm, I arrived to a closed pharmacy gate & a sign noted they close 130 - 2 pm for a break. After waiting a few minutes, I asked the pharmacist about my Rx, I said I was told to pick it up now. She replied, incredulously, they're on break, etc. "We're 12 minutes into our break, we open at 2 pm." I relayed my confusion because I was told to come at this time. I asked if she was the person I spoke to, she said no. Then the tech (out of my view) said she told someone that, but that was "a while ago" with an attitude of annoyance in her tone. Umm...it was 20 minutes ago...that's how long ago she said it. I walk away, understandably frustrated. Clearly, the tech didn't realize the time when she told me to come in 20 min, inadvertently, telling me to come when they're closed. An understandable mistake. But instead of owning it, they treat me poorly, as if I am the issue. I'm doing what I was directed to do. This increasingly bothers me as minutes tick by. (To be fair, the pharmacist didn't know I was told this, but her affect was still rude.) I had my wife & kids waiting in the car outside & this will now be about 45 min of them waiting. I buy snacks, take it to them outside & explain the wait. At 1:55 pm I go to the gate & stand to await the opening. Before it does, I hear the tech (still out of view) say to the pharmacist, in a nasty tone, "...& when she called, it was like..." the pharmacist stopped her, looked at me with wide eyes to try to indicate to this poor excuse for an employee to shut up b/c I'm standing there. They didn't know who I was, but they quickly learned who I'm NOT...& that's "the one." I proceeded to read that little girl & the pharmacist for filth. I attached the screenshot of my call. I am also not the silent type, the entire store probably heard me say the only thing they should be offering me is an apology for their mistake, not their attitude. The pharmacist immediately changed her affect, apologized & filled my Rx in 5 min. She was suddenly pleasant as pie, twice as sweet. I know it's hard to find good help, but you lost a years-long customer today.

I contacted the pharmacy to request that a prescription be transferred from Walgreens to CVS. The…read moreOperations Manager informed me that CVS would need to call to initiate the transfer. I explained that CVS had attempted to call the day before Thanksgiving but remained on hold for nearly an hour. The manager responded by saying, "No they weren't, they're lying," which was extremely unprofessional and surprising to hear from someone in a managerial position. I further explained that I had also attempted to call to provide the CVS fax number and experienced a similarly long wait time. The manager then became hostile and accusatory, insisting that I was lying and claiming that he "runs a tight ship" and that no caller has ever waited that long. His combative tone and dismissive behavior were entirely inappropriate. I questioned why he was responding in such a manner and expressed that his conduct lacked the professionalism and decorum expected of a manager. I am relieved to be transferring my prescriptions away from this location and will not be returning. The level of rudeness and unprofessionalism exhibited was unacceptable, and it is clear that additional customer service training is needed.

If I call in a prescription on Saturday or Sunday, the system will tell me that the prescription will be ready after 11 AM on Wednesday. I go in at 4 PM on Wednesday and the prescription has not been filled. Why you ask? Well that's because they never have that medication on hand. Ever. So they tell me they have to order it and to come back on Tuesday of the next week. So I go in on Tuesday of the next week and they say "This prescription has expired and we have to call your doctor to get a refill". Well, my question is why didn't they call that in the week before when they found out???When I tell you this happens every single time, it happens every.single.time. WITHOUT FAIL! They won't even call you to tell you that it's not ready. So you waste your time going out of the way to go get your medicine for nothing. You're better off going to a mom and Pop pharmacy rather than these big box ones that really don't give a crap about you. And that way you also support a local business and mom and Pop shops. Don't bother with Walgreens or any other of the larger pharmacies. For most especially this location.
