CVS Pharmacy has been open since Covid-19 pandemic started in early 2020. I stopped coming for pharmacy orders in 2019 because the pharmacy staff were RUDE and they're drug pushers. I have been to this CVS at Beechnut and South Gessner near Academy for very long time. Even after I moved my prescription refills to other pharmacy 2 miles away, I still stop by to do window shopping. Because this store has lowest prices in Houston, as I was told by a manager before. My recent encounter with store employees was really bad. I asked my employer to ship a machine to UPS Access Point at CVS. I received a message from UPS as my package has arrived. I went to store once and twice; I was told they haven't received it yet. Claiming there was a delay. I called UPS, they said someone signed for it. I went back third time and the employee denied that person works at that location. She had a nerve to tell me to check the other CVS. I went back Fourth time. I asked for a manager. She first denied like the same answer previous employees said. Then, she pulled out a device and scanned my receipt. Ah she found it miraculously. What happened was they wrote my last time as first name. No one could find it. What this tells me they should had scanned it, instead they checked by name only and lied about this and that. Front counter staff was outrageously unprofessional. This cannot be a trusted anymore.

Ended up having to get the SAME EXACT THING in all, freaking $6(each one $2.99)! The buy 1 get 1 50% off wasn't even applied!

Not the best CVS around, service is kinda slow and not that nice, but the deals after holidays aren't bad though. EDIT: Scratch the service part being alright, there will be cashiers there with their incompetence that will frustrate you so hard. That's not a nice experience. I came back after a while to buy some snacks that were featured in the little savings CVS paper and it said ALL products of this certain brand were buy one get one 50% and it showed different products with each other but the cashier lady upfront said it wasn't, EVEN THOUGH on the catalog it said in CAPS "ALL Products"(of that certain brand name) and the products that I got were of the brand BUT SHE SAID I had to get the same exact snack even though they are the SAME EXACT BRAND. For what reason?! It doesn't even say it has to be the same exact product! Anyways, I didn't want to hold back the line behind us so we paid and left, but in the future I'd rather not have a cashier that doesn't understand what "ALL" means.

Pretty good if you ask me

High turn over at this location.... The last few times I have come here there has been a line from the front to the back of the store. Instead of standing in that line I went to the pharmacy to check out. Which was fast and easy!

Nevertheless, it had most of what we were looking for, basically just drinks and snacks for our 2-day stay in Houston. My father wanted bakery items for breakfast and settled for the usual Hostess and Hostess-like choices you'd find at, again, a convenience store. However, the gentleman behind the register was pleasant and helpful. A customer came in and while checking out casually mentioned he had a close friend die the day before in a car crash. The cashier was very sympathetic and listened to the guy without interrupting or trying to hurry him along. In all, the store has the basics. But if you're looking for an actual grocery store like what you'd typically find in the downtown area of a large city, this is not it.

The parking was a bit of a challenge, but it was easy enough because it was a calm Tuesday morning. To get from the parking area to the store, you just take the elevator one level down, and then you're right inside. This place is surprisingly big, filled with all kinds of snacks, cookies, and coffee. The highlight for me was their shawarma breakfast wrap. It was top-notch and exactly what I needed. You choose between whole wheat or white pita, and it's filled with scrambled eggs, your choice of fresh or sautéed spinach, and they add potatoes as well. Then they top it with shawarma chicken, tomato, and a delicious sauce. For $8.5 it was worth every bite. Hands down, a five out of five. I also tried their coffee, which was just a standard brew sitting in ice for hours and nothing special. At $2.50, it was fine, but nothing to write home about. The real stars were the cookies. I got a coconut pecan cookie and an almond crunch cookie, and both were absolutely delicious. I didn't have time to explore the whole store, but there was a great selection of fresh produce, chocolates, and all sorts of small treats. Overall, the staff were really friendly, and the entire visit was smooth. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area. Five out of five stars!

Plenty of healthy and not so healthy but delicious options, the breakfast chicken shawarma wrap was a great way to start the day with fresh squeezed orange juice. A great one stop shop with groceries as well!

Well, I have a little story I'd like to share. One day, I was searching for liquor stores downtown…read moreother than Specs, looking for a specific brand of liquor. Since I work downtown, several upscale liquor stores appeared on my Apple Maps. I called to inquire. The person who answered was patient and provided excellent customer service. Over the phone, he put me on hold, then came back and said, "Yes, ma'am, we do have it, but only one left. Don't worry, we close at nine. I'll hold it for you," and I appreciated his kindness. I told him I was on my way. When I arrived, he had the bottle ready for me, and I thanked him. I also asked how long the store had been there; he mentioned about five years. I realized I had driven past that place countless times without noticing it--it's kind of tucked away on the corner. We started chatting, and I was delighted to find out he was the owner. That moment meant a lot to me--not just because the store is close to my job, but because it's a Black-owned business, which truly touched my heart. I couldn't help but smile from ear to ear when he shared that. I vowed that from then on, this would be my go-to liquor store. There are three employees there, and they are the most welcoming, pleasant people I've ever met. Over the past few months, they've gotten to know me, and every visit is always a warm experience. Yesterday, I went in to get my usual, and I was greeted with friendly smiles and genuine warmth--"Hey, how's it going? How are things? Just getting off work? Good to see you." I had requested a bottle of Chardonnay, but one of the staff members accidentally ordered Moscato instead. It was no big deal, and he apologized, saying he'd get the correct one for me. Then, unexpectedly, he said, "Do me a favor--take this bottle of Chardonnay and try it. Tell me what you think." He didn't have to do that; I truly believe he did it because that's just who he is, not just because I'm a regular customer. I was about to decline, but he insisted, so I accepted. Just then, a woman from the back, smiling warmly, introduced herself as one of the owners. I'd never seen her before, but she explained she was listening and wanted to come say hello, expressing her appreciation for my support. It warmed my heart in a way words can't fully express. Moments like that remind me that showing kindness and respect doesn't cost anything. It's just about being human and compassionate. As long as Price Liquors is open, they will always have my support. Thank you, Posh.
