The experience here is completely dependent on the pharmacist on that day. I was in Birmingham because my mother was dying. My purse and toiletry bag were stolen, including prescription medications and the written prescription my doctor had given me in advance, in case I was out of town when I needed them. I contacted my doctor who asked that I have the pharmacist call him. The young, white male pharmacist, whose name I didn't catch, treated me like a criminal. He said he could be calling anyone and he would just ask the doctor to fax a written prescription. That's fine and all he had to say was that a written prescription was required. The end. But then he added, "I mean, someone who prescribes medication would have that ability, right?" in a condescending voice. I said sure and I know this sounds crazy but I'm having a rough week. He said, "I'm not judging" in a way that was clear that he was. My doctor attempted to fax the prescription 10 times and the fax number he gave me just rang. Thankfully, the next day, there was a LOVELY pharmacist named Diana, who went above and beyond to not only sort out everything with my doctor, she also used GoodRx to get me a spectacular discount on my prescriptions. So much so that I will be sticking with CVS going forward. The previous day, I was never shopping at a CVS again but it's amazing the difference between a kind person and someone who treats their customers like crap. read more
