Well... it is CVS, but the upside is that its super clean, the shelves are full stocked and its smack in the middle of downtown. I love the layout that CVS often has and no creepy people were hanging around. This one has alcohol, food items and some cleaning/household stuff. I bought a dry erase calender board for work - 4 people have stopped by to ask where I got it and tell me how much they like it... wow, its just a dry erase calendar board. Whew, get a life people. If this place expanded to grocery it would serious kick some downtown ass! But for now I'll pick up some of that chilled champagne in the cooler, some raisin bran and some itch cream and go. hehe Ok, maybe I don't need the itch cream (that's my story and I'm sticking to it), but I sure need that drink and raisin bran and you can get it here! read more

Okay...so here we go...a review of my local downtown CVS. Not particularly exciting..I know. So let's start with the positive things-- -very convenient for those local downtown residents- within walking distance of primarily all the apartment/condos residences located within or near the Main Street District of Downtown Dallas. -CVS has finally recently acknowledged the ever growing population of the area and has expanded general store and pharmacy operating hours to accomodate this. -expanded frozen food selection with more "bake 'n' serve" varieties and options for its customers. -assumption of a more frequent replenishment of fresh and easy to grab and go sandwiches, fruit, and quick lunch items. -front end employees seem to be friendlier to those coming in from the Main Street entrance. They frequently say "hello" to almost anyone walking in the front door. Now, let's visit the areas that need improvement-- -those items that are on "sale" or "special" are frequently hard to find, not even available, or sold out completely. Example-- sodas, chips, toilet tissue, paper towels, and select grocery items. -Maintenance issues such as-- a water bucket sitting in the middle of an aisle due to a leaky ceiling, a broken freezer chest that would normally store frozen foods (literally set broken for weeks), and malfunctioning self check-out machines that would only take credit/debit cards, which would be unable to dispense cash back. -Only 3 self scan checkouts open approximately 99 percent of the time to service all customers-- well not exactly-- you service yourself. Frequently, there are long lines. So expect a wait. Rarely, does a front end employee address any assistance via intercom to help expedite customers through the check-out process. -Expect to be accosted outside the Main Street entrance for money or "handouts". Usually off to the side of the front door-- there is a career "down on their luck" criminal individual who will relentlessly pursue you for a dollar or some change. I wear headphones and listen to music loudly to avoid this prior to walking in the store. CVS has made some changes to accomodate its ever growing downtown population; however, there are improvements to be made. Will they continue to improve? Or, become even more complacent? The self check out equipment at this location is in dire need of replacement! One kiosk accepts only credit cards and the other two do not accept cash, but are not marked as such and prompt you to pay with cash and accept cash, but then fail to give you the change that is due! They also constantly have to reset the machines, causing delays in checking out. This has gone on for at least a 6 months or more! They claim they do not have any contact information for Regional Management Offices. If not for the location and the lack of another store Downtown, I would shop elsewhere! read more

Very clean. The staff was helpful and friendly. It was only a short distance from my hotel, easy to find.

This is the most annoying pharmacy in America. They are constantly "updating" their records asking for new information on every visit. Once they have your phone number they will call almost daily to remind you to refill allergy medication. The store itself is fine - it's just a really awful pharmacy experience. read more

As you enter the store someone will greet you with a smile and usually very courteous. The have given the place a facelift and it looks quite nice. Now the bad part. The pharmacy. Rude, frowns, long lines and short hours for a pharmacy. I live in downtown, but work 30 min away. They close at 6. Open at 9. Weird to me for a pharmacy that does a lot of business. I had someone from the pharmacy call me to tell me and ask if I needed a refill. Since I have 5 scripts on file, I ask which one. They could not pronounce any of the names I had on file. I was embarrassed for them. So, good store with late hours. Poor pharmacy and rude pharmacy staff. Hope this helps. read more

I've left so many bad reviews for CVS I just had to say that this one was well organized, clean, and the self checkout was very nice. Very convenient location and seems like a great store. I did not get a prescription so I can not vouch for their pharmacy but this is one of the better CVS stores that I have visited as far as in and out with no hassle. read more

I stopped in when I was staying in the area. The good news is that it stays open late. It is downtown, so you may have to circle around to park, but that's a given. The layout is a little strange, but who cares? When you have to go for one specific thing, it is just nice to have a location with extended hours. Hello, I'm deeply disappointed by the service I received from the store associate at this store. I presented a US passport when purchasing an age restricted item and the store associate gave a quick glance and informed me that CVS only accepts a valid TX drivers license or one issued by another state. I asked to speak to a manager and the store associate initially declined, stating that this was CVS policy and cancelled the transaction. I insisted I speak to a manager and she finally relented. After the store associated called the manager, she didn't explain anything and scanned my item. I asked her to explain why she went against CVS policy? and she said, "get to used it". It was evident she was unclear on procedures and acceptable forms of identification. In this instance, she should have asked for clarification from her manager before falsely making a statement. Even when she was in the wrong, she did not once apologize. read more

I really dislike CVS pharmacies, period, but I'm not sure this CVS is really any worse than the others. I can't stand their self check out lines that are usually slower, not faster than regular checkouts. I strongly suspect this isn't about CVS caring about convenience or anything else for customers (because it isn't), but rather about shaving off payroll costs. I never have much respect for companies that do this in the first place. There's a reason I no longer fill prescriptions at CVS too. Because here it's an annoying, much longer, painful experience than it needs to be. Again, both these things are true of any CVS, not just this store in particular. This place is fine to run in to grab something - snacks, chips, or the usual pharmacy / toiletry items. They do actually have a decent wine selection here. As for anything else, it's very spotty. They are often out of sale items and selection is pretty lame. I work nearby and take the DART, and truthfully there isn't much else in this area that's easy to walk to. I don't suppose I can fault the store for the crazy people and panhandlers outside - that's everywhere in this area. This store is especially run down and could use a cleaning. This store has two entrances - one on Elm Street and the other off Main. Well, on a cold, rainy day, they had the Elm Street doors locked and I had to walk all the way around the entire block to get into the other entrance. I asked an employee why they closed that entrance off and was told they did because the stairs coming into the store were slippery. Can't they do something about those stairs to make them safer then - carpet them or some other non-slip covering? Not only does this sound illegal, it seems like a really stupid reason to close off an entire entrance when they should fix a problem that sounds unsafe to begin with- rain or no rain. One positive is the employees are nice here. It's not their fault the store sucks. read more

Stopped in to pick up a few things and was immediately greeted at the door and asked if they could help me find something. Being new to the city, this was welcomed since I had never been there before. I required help finding another item and the manager walked me to it. The store was clean and I felt very comfortable. The only thing is that they use self-checkouts, which I had never used in a pharmacy before. However, someone was standing close by at all times to help with the process. Great job CVS! Let me first star by saying that I come into the CVS multiple times a week for random items! I have come in 3 days this week. I had a return to make and just so happened to ask Daviyon or whatever her name is about doing an exchange and she told me to go to the counter and wait... (instead of just wasting my time waiting for a sales clerk to come do something she has every ability to do and ended up having to do assist to complete the return.) I grabbed the other items I was purchasing then proceeded to the register only to be told that a return had to be made for the other items and then I had to make a new purchase. How inconvenient I said... she rolled her eyes and shrugged her shoulders while stating "we changed the policy." I didn't complain because I thought maybe she was just having a bad day, a "manager" cannot be that nonchalant and rude. Moving along, I just left CVS while she was hollering something as I was walking away. This time, I did the self check out and my receipt did NOT print. I told her I needed my receipt. She again shrugged her shoulders and said, "there's nothing I can do until tomorrow, I can't override the system." So you mean to tell me that CVS shuts their printing systems down after a certain time?! Makes no sense... so basically I can't even return the items which I wanted to. She needs to be fired ASAP. She had the nerve to state that I give her a problem every time I come in... No ma'am if I have a question or concern it is her JOB to professionally and respectfully answer/ address them. I go to CVS to shop, not to deal with attitude from an employee when they should be doing THEIR JOB. I have never met a more unpleasant person, a manager at that who treats customers the way that she does. There was no genuine care or concern for either issue and the body language the displays seems as though she'd rather not deal with people and only stock the shelves... it seemed to be more important than assisting customers. Which ultimately means she shouldn't be in an industry providing customer service unless she undergoes further training. Terrible just terrible. And I need my receipt! read more

Good store for grabbing a few grocery or cosmetic items in downtown. But terrible pharmacy experience. The pharmacists are rude and unhelpful. They never have Sudafed and similar behind the counter allergy products in stock (ever), and refuse to order medications they don't have in stock (despite the fact I have had other CVS locations in the area order the exact same medication). I strongly recommend avoiding this pharmacy, and going to a different CVS in the area. read more

This pharmacy is the worst in town! Extra care is a joke - they do not care about you, your time, your prescriptions or your business. Absolutely zero accountability for the fact that there is no follow through on their part to actually fill your prescriptions. Yet their auto dialer will call you a billion times and leave a million messages telling you you're due for a refill. Perhaps you could take some of that marketing money and hire more caring staff. Never again will i spend a dollar at cvs. And PS - if your prescription isn't covered, it will be half the price at Walgreens. Just an FYI read more

The CVS in downtown Dallas has been great for me! I travel to Dallas frequently for extended stays and am running over here a lot for a variety of needs. Just last week I needed a precription transferred from another pharmacy in my home town. Ashley in the Pharmacy was AMAZING!!! She got the preciption transfered in minutes!
