I'm not sure if it's CVS in general or this CVS in particular, but I would not recommend using this pharmacy ever, under any circumstances. First, there is no way to reach the pharmacy by phone. You have to navigate the absolute circus of the robo-phone-tree, which continuously encourages you to use the dumpster fire that is their online portal/app. Once you are finally given the option to leave a message, that's it... you wait for a call back. I guess this isn't a big deal if you have a routine prescription or refill, but if you have a more complex or urgent Rx need... good luck, thoughts & prayers, etc. For me, a week after LASIK when I desperately needed Rx eye drops to alleviate longer than expected eye irritation, I was ping-ponged back & forth between my eye doctor and CVS trying to understand what the delay was. At first my online portal said they needed a prior authorization, then it just said there was "missing information" but no one could tell me what info was missing. I had to be the go-between, calling my eye doctor repeatedly on a Friday afternoon trying to get this sorted out before the weekend... to no avail. My ophthalmologist submitted 3 different eye drop prescriptions that afternoon trying to get me some relief before the weekend, and each one was held up for the same vague reasons. Finally, the following Tuesday after still being unable to sort out the issue with CVS on Monday, my ophthalmologist submitted the same Rx to Walmart, and it was filled within 2 hours without any prior auth, flags for missing info, etc. Shortly after this, I got a text from CVS notifying me that the prescriptions (yes, the ones that required PAs) were ready for pickup (?!?!) after my doctor's office confirmed they did not fill out any PA. Their service is terrible! Drugs are often unavailable when ordered, and staff is surly and unhelpful. When I am able I will be moving all my prescriptions elsewhere. read more

Trying to get info on a pending prescription today. I needed it to be in another CITY since I am visiting family an hour away from my normal CVS. Had to call three times to finally get the voice mail bot to answer. Apparently there is no way to speak to an actual person. There needs to be some way to back up if you miss a cue as I did the first call. On second try I got supposedly transferred to voice mail but ended up on hold with loud music for 5 minutes before hanging up. You needed to let me know that voice mail was busy and I would be answered or whatever. Third call went thru. Now CVS just left a message on my home phone that my prescription is ready. This whole fiasco sucks. read more

Super annoyed that I drove all the way across town to get my Rx after being. Notified by phone and text ! Stood in line for about 30 min after waiting in the drive through for over 30 minutes to be told I can't get my RX because the pharmacist was on lunch??? Not cool... You should notify customers of this policy ! I don't expect rainbows every place I go but this is something I've never heard of after 10 years of coming here ... read more

I live this cvs one because it close to me and two because they keep there store clean and you can fine everything in it's nice place... People are nice all the customer service so far that I have gotten and very polite keep being kind and loving.. If you plan on going to this pharmacy and picking up your prescription in a reasonable time frame I suggest taking your business elsewhere. I have been going here for almost 3 years due to the fact that it is so close to my house. I have finally grown tired of all the stuff I have had to deal with. They do nothing in a timely matter. I have never waited less than 15 minutes in their line no matter how many cars in front of me. Now this is only an issue if the drive thru is actually open. When it isn't and you have to go inside and don't get to sit in the comfort of your car but you're going to stand for at least 15-30 minutes as well. You're also lucky if they have your prescription in stock and after being in line for 30 minutes they send you to another line to wait for another 30 minutes. read more

She introduced me to some new types of cosmetics, helped me put together matching lipstick, blush, nail polish. Talked to me about eye shadow I'd already bought at another cvs. Super grateful!!! read more

This CVS saved my life. I had an allergic reaction to some nasal spray that resulted in my throat almost closing. We live by the cvs amd my wife drove there as they were closing. She begged the cashier's to let her in because it was an emergency and they did. They helped her get the medicine needed to help me. It was a couple of young employees who really went out of their way. We love this CVS now :) read more

I visited my doctor for a Sinus Infection and got a prescription they phoned to CVS Esplanade, Chico. after waiting for over 30 minutes in line, to go thru the drive thru...we realized, once again, we were next in line behind a person(s) testing for Covid. It was a parent with 3-4 children...not sure who was being tested but it took forever and we saw them deposit tests in the box. Then the adult and a couple kids reached back into the drawer trying to pick up something from the drawer (candy or treats perhaps) Covid infected fingers touching the inside of the same drawer that our prescription would delivered in!!!!!!! our turn...no one wiped anything down and we were asking if they would please wipe down the drawer. The clerk did so and the cloth she used was covered with dirt and grime. Eww eww and ewww. Obviously no one regularly washes that drawer...even after possible Covid infected people have been all over it! this makes CVS a point of contamination...they could be spreading the virus to every other patient following those persons testing to Covid. I got a text about 3 hours after I picked up my prescription...telling me my prescription for A was ready. No idea so I called to find out what prescription it was. I waited 37 THIRTY SEVEN!!! minutes for them to answer my call. The male clerk said...oh ya that the prescription you already picked up...I complained about the waiting in line to pick up my prescription the text telling me I had a prescription and the waiting 37 minutes for them to answer along with...possible contamination in the drawer. the clerk said..."AND"...I said AND...I am upset. He referred me to the pharmacy manager, Milton. Milton said the Federal Government asked them to do the testing. As I told him...I am sure you are being well paid for doing that testing! How sad you care so little about your regular customers... I asked why they are testing people at the same window as they hand prescriptions out to sick, immunology stressed, elderly people? Why aren't they doing that at some other location? I suggested a booth in the parking lot or even in the second drive thru lane? Milton said the other drive thru lane is for dropping off prescriptions only! So a separate lane for those dropping off prescriptions but NOT for those testing for Covid! Milton invited me to take my business elsewhere...he said he has managed that pharmacy for ELEVEN YEARS! Shameful to not understand transmission of communicable diseases as a pharmacist and for NOT making sure his long term customers are protected from Covid germs at his pharmacy! I wonder how many received Covid loaded prescriptions thru that drawer ((((shudder))))! Unconscionable at best, sloppy/dirty would be a kind description of the practices at this store IMHO! read more

Came to pick up my child's antibiotic prescription I was told they had not printed the label yet so it was not ready. They informed it would take 20 more minutes before I could pick it up. My husband went back an hour and a half later. It was still not ready and took an additional hour to get ready. Terrible service, no apologies. Never going here again. read more

I have used this pharmacy for 10 years and I have always had tremendous service. The staff treats me very kindly and professionally, and always has my prescription ready on time. They handle the insurance billing as it is supposed to be and I appreciate their professional service, and the kindness of the staff. I have never had a problem with insurance issues. Pharmacist is completely incompetent. The pharmacy called to tell me to pick up a prescription at a specific time. Got there and they of course didn't have it and acted completely unapologetic like I should expect that it wouldn't be there. Did this with them for four days of them telling me to just keep checking back the next day before I gave up. Ever since they have replaced almost all their older longtime employees, their pharmacy has gone way downhill. They are rude, and not friendly at all. They now treat you like a number. Super friendly staff. Prescriptions are filled accurately and timely. The website works great. Text notification works well. 2 lane drive through makes it more convenient. Did I mention that the staff is super friendly! The only downside is that they place die cast metal cars and trucks at the end of the checkout line which makes my son go nuts. The placement is obviously to make kids freak out so parents buy one to quiet their child. Other than that I couldn't ask for more from a pharmacy. Good job guy's and gals! read more

Walked in yesterday with my RX. I had fractured my elbow and was obviously in pain, arm in a splint. They did not have the pain med which is super basic! With zero concern they ask if I would like to put it in to be filled when they get it in two days. It was just super obvious they did not give a crap. read more

Just had the worst experience dealing with the pharmacist inside this CVS. I have been horribly sick with my allergies and had a co-worker recommend Allegra-D over the counter allergy medication. I could tell from the minute I walked up to the counter that the pharmacist did not want to help me. When he finally came over, I asked what he recommends as far as allergy medication. He lead me down the allergy isle and handed me a box of day time/night time Mucinex. After reading the ingredients I knew right away that Mucinex was not what I needed. Half of the symptoms were cleared up due to the "night time" pills which I couldnt take because I have work. After going back up to the counter and asking again, he made me feel stupid by asking "Are you SURE that's what's for?" You could tell yet again he did NOT want to help me. Instead of helping me find out more about the Allegra I inquired about, he told me to buy Claritin, which I did, and which I will be taking back so I can get a refund. I have never felt so defeated walking out of a store. I use this CVS at least once a week for personal items (not prescriptions) and am shocked. I will NEVER use their services again. read more

This is the worst pharmacy I have ever had to endure. Every other CVS pharmacy in Chico has reasonably competent, articulate, and patient staff, but this particular one is incompetent, disorganized, and unwilling to take responsibility for mistakes made on their end. As other reviews have noted, this pharmacy is unable to reliably communicate whether or not a particular product is covered by insurance until after the product is paid for. When I brought this issue up to the pharmacist, I was treated rudely. I was never notified via text that a particular notification was uncovered by my insurance, and when I brought this up to the pharmacist, he seemed not to even be listening to what I was saying - he appeared to be doing something else as he was talking to me. He was immediately rude, dismissive, and defensive even as I calmly and reasonably brought up my complaint. I will never go to this pharmacy again and I urge anyone else to avoid this pharmacy - especially this noxious pharmacist - if at all possible. read more

Every single time I go to this pharmacy there is a problem with the medication not being ready or issues with them correctly billing our insurance. When this CVS was first built we only gave it a try because our insurance is through CVS caremark and we get better deals with CVS. However, the pharmacy routinely could not handle filling our prescriptions so we called our insurance and demanded to opt out of using CVS and went to Walgreens on Esplanade, where we stayed happily for years. Then, this past summer Walgreens on Esplanade closed and we reluctantly decided to give CVS another try. Unfortunately, the CVS pharmacy only got worse! They still have difficulty correctly bill our insurance. Every time I go there I have to ask them to re-bill the insurance, which means that I have to wait 20-30 minutes for them to figure it all out. The place is also horrendously disorganized and filthy. Strewn along the floor are scraps of trash of various sorts, medications haphazardly fall from the bins or racks, and the pharmacists appear just as haphazard themselves. Customer services is also very weak. The pharmacists will speak to you about your insurance information or medication from 15-20 feet away so that all can hear what medications your are getting or what your insurance does or does not cover. We are going back to Walgreens. It's worth the extra gas and time to not have to worry about when or if your prescriptions will be filled. read more
