I got the prescription from the orthopedic doctor for diclofenac that pharmacy refused to fill out because prescription had an electronic signature of the doctor. Prescription was for anti inflammatory medication not narcotics!! Staff was not helpful at all and looked like they just hate working there. Went down the road to Shaws pharmacy and got it filled! Wait forever for someone to unlock the allergy cabinet. Not enough employees. Manager should be disciplined.

The customer service in the pharmacy has become intolerable. Called in prescription, not contacted for 5 days, so I went in and was told the prescription is unavailable from the manufacturer. They give me the phone number to another CVS for me to call to see if they have in stock. Unable to reach anyone by phone...only able to leave a message. My previous experience(s) with leaving a message at CVS is they NEVER call you back. So I went back into Alewife CVS to complain that they are unwilling to help me. They tried calling the other pharmacy with no luck. Then all of a sudden, they have my medication in stock. What the...?!? This type of experience has happened to me twice now over the past 4 months. Completely unacceptable. Refuse to help me when the medication is there all along. Very disappointed. read more

Here is an effective trick to make your CVS more efficient and save money. See, the CVS Fresh Pond is perpetually understaffed. This means when I need something, it is a stupidly huge time sink. To make it much faster and more convenient: I no longer shop at CVS and exclusively use one of their competitors. Problem permanently solved. There is a nazi who was manning the self checkout registers. I had a full basket and attempted to go to one of those and was screamed at and threatened by an overweight white guy who claimed "that I would never leave if I had utilized the kiosk." Note to CVS, place signage to designate that the self kiosk is only for "less than a certain # of items." Will be bringing this to corporate attention given the threatening behavior from this particular staff member. read more

I went in there today to purchase a fragrance that they have locked up. I press the button for a staff member and waited almost 5 minutes. The staff member that came over to me said that he doesn't have the key and nobody working right now has it and walked away from me. FUWKING RIDICULOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE. A pretty good CVS location. There is a large parking lot so getting in and out is fine and it is right next to TJ's and a lot of other good stores. Their selection of products is pretty good and I can use the self checkout to avoid lines. I don't use them as a pharmacy so I can't speak to that part of the business. read more

Got both 1st + 2nd Covid vaccines here. Amazingly easy, streamlined process. No stress and very quick. I have been frustrated by wait times on filling prescriptions at this pharmacy in the past but it's been a long time since I've gotten a prescription here, so perhaps things are more efficient now. The most incompetent pharmacy in the universe. You call them ahead to make sure immunizations are available, then they look all surprised when you show up. They always make mistakes when filling prescriptions which is dangerous. They once gave me a wrong pill and didn't even apologize when I pointed out. read more

This is a mixed review for this particular CVS. When speaking to Florence in pharmacy over the phone I was very pleased. She was professional, very helpful. However, when I went to this store to have my prescription filled I saw both customers and an employee not wearing masks (despite Cambridge mandatory ordinance that all people must wear masks and a sign on the door of the store saying anyone entering must wear a mask). Also, there is a shield separating staff from customers when you drop off/pick up prescriptions which is good, however, the woman who I was interacting with kept moving away from the shielded portion to speak with me. These may seem like petty things for me to complain about but I feel that it reflects the lack of effort and attention to following guidelines. I need to have confidence that businesses that are open during the covid19 are trustworthy and serious about their employees' and customers' health and safety. Not ok! read more

I want to write about how helpful the pharmacy folks are at CVS Alewife Brook Pkway! My insurance company declined to cover my prescription, and the retail price is extremely high, but the pharmacist Florence went out of her way to find a coupon from the manufacturer that made it possible for me to purchase it at 1/4 the price.
