We decided to check this place out while on vacation in Charlotte. Unfortunately, we happened to visit during the Chris Brown and Usher concert weekend, so the entire area was extremely busy. We attended the Karaoke R&B Brunch, which sounded like it would be such a fun experience. The atmosphere had potential, and the staff was friendly, but unfortunately, the service was a bit disappointing. The restaurant wasn't crowded enough, in my opinion, for us to have to wait 45 minutes to an hour for our food. When the food finally arrived, though, it was hot and tasted good, so that definitely helped. Our waitress did apologize for the wait and gave us two complimentary desserts, which I appreciated. And let me tell you--the red velvet cake was SO moist and delicious! I honestly wanted to go back and order another slice. Overall, I'm definitely on the fence about recommending this place. The staff was friendly, but I do think the service could have been a little more professional and attentive. I would consider giving them another try because I really enjoyed the food and the concept. Hopefully, the next visit will be a better experience! read more

I found this restaurant on Yelp and I am so happy I went! At first I was going to order to go but glad I decided to have a seat and dine in. The chef has a cooking show that plays on a tv screen. I like that you can see him making the dishes. I watched him make some cubed steak and grits! I didn't order that plate but definitely thinking about going back before I leave the city. I ordered the shrimp and Lobster Mac and cheese. There were some nice chunks of lobster! Their shrimp was definitely seasoned well with a nice fried crunch. The service was great and there was a steady flow of people dining in and taking out. A must go to if you're in Charlotte! FYI: they are closed on Mondays. read more

Food took 45 minutes and our order was completely wrong. It was just two meals. We had to go back inside and wait even longer for them correct it, and they still forgot one of our sauces. Food was AWFUL. And I mean I did not even bother eating it. No seasoning at all, waffle fries had the texture of cardboard. Wings over cooked. Almost 100% certain the "lobster" mac n cheese is made with imitation crab because it's stringy. Literally a total waste of both time and money. I would not even recommend this place to an enemy. read more

Great Fish & Chips - crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside, perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. The fries? Cooked to perfection. What really made the experience stand out was the welcoming, homey vibe. Every server and staff member spoke to us with warmth--it honestly felt like stepping into a cozy neighborhood spot where everyone knows everyone. The walls are filled with rich history, giving it even more character. Phenomenal food. Phenomenal service. Phenomenal experience. Already planning my next visit. read more

This restaurant was just OK. After all of the hype, I thought this restaurant was really good, so I suggested that my sister and brother-in-law eat there when they were in town. However, this was not a really good experience. From the service, to the food, which was very lackluster, to the fact that the only real beverage that they were able to offer were these lemonades that did not have refills, this place was very overpriced and not delicious at all. I tried a lot of other items, but myself, I had the wing and fries. You've gotta make sure that you're taking care of people when they're ordering food at your establishment. I asked for the lemon pepper wings, and they were barely seasoned, I had to ask for more seasoning. There were maybe five waffle fries. When you charge that much for food you need to be making things in house, the fact that the waffle fries were something that was frozen and fried made no sense to me. Will not be back. read more

Lobster Mac! Red velvet pancakes! I mean - lord have mercy. Such an amazing food experience. Do not miss out.

Whenever I want lobster Mac, greens when my energy is low or squash with zucchini, I head straight to Cuzzos. Whether you get a main course, a to go treat or dessert, you can always count on a spoon full of flavor with every bite. As far as sweet treats, the strawberry and banana pudding is my favorite. But please don't take anyone that you don't like there because if you treat them to Cuzzos they might fall in love with you. Don't do it unless they're the one. Lol. It's usually open late. I'm just sad that this is probably the only location (located in University City) when there used to be 2 or 3. read more

I'm very disappointed in this place, it was recommend on social media by many people. So, of course I was happy to try it out. The food took about 20 minutes to come out and somethings looked better than others. My group order shrimp n grits, red velvet waffle, macaroni and wings. The grits were very runny with heavy cream , the waffle was the best thing we had, the macaroni was a disappointment to my ancestors and the wings were dry and hard. I was happy to see a black owned business flourish but I think the quality of food should match the price. read more

We were greeted upon entry and went to the counter to order. I asked for a few recommendations they were provided without hesitation! We ordered and advised that we could sit anywhere! The restaurant is small and on this Sunday evening they were not very busy! Our server was very attentive! My Mom and I had the Fish and Shrimp and a side salad! I had the Lobster Mac and Cheese! It did not take long for the food to come and it was flavorful! We enjoyed the food and plan to return! read more

Always look to support local businesses. COVID19 did a number on every one. But happy we all made it to the other side. They open Sundays at noon. Had the lemon pepper wings, delicious collard greens, and magical lobster mac n cheese. They cook made to order. Plan on waiting min 20-25 minutes. This is Cuzzos2. Let's unpack! Food was good, however, the service was terrible. It took an hour for everyone to get their food. The server/kitchen brought out the wrong meal 3 times. In addition, it's pricy for the amount of food you get. I spent $33 on a meal that wasn't worth that. I won't be returning. read more

Half of my flounder was just skin, so it wasn't even a full piece of fish. Two orders of okra and one was darker than the other and tasted different than the other batch. We'll chalk that up as old grease. Overall, the food was edible, but it wasn't as tasty as we'd hoped for especially for the price. The lobster Mac was tasty, but extremely heavy. The collard greens tasted as if they had sugar in them. read more

I've ordered from here for lunch and dinner so many times. Weekends usually require about a 45 minute wait but lunch isn't bad. So they are my go to for: fish and also waffles. Consider it a fast food spot but they do have seating in the restaurant. I eat a lot of seafood so typical fast food spots for lunch don't work for me but the fish at Cuzzo's??? MAN! Sooooo good. My husband loves the bbq fish which I haven't had. But check this out. They have a peach waffle. Yep I said it. Peaches are cooked right into the waffle and drizzled with cream cheese frosting. So the fish and waffles don't come together but I often order them both just cause I love them and I do t eat chicken. Please oh please cuzzos consider making it a combo... Btw my family has ordered pretty much everything off of the menu. Yep. Delicious. Try the cauliflower mambo wings! read more

I've been a supporter here since they started in Charlotte and was glad to have location open in the university area. I usually order online because the wait times are brutal and the parking can be a nightmare. On my last few visits I had the mambo cauliflower wings, lobster Mac, shrimp and grits, shrimp and fries, fish and greens, beans n rice, strawberry banana pudding, etc. Overall everything is usually pretty good, and the next time I'll try soul food Sunday. read more

Aight now, for the price it has to be done right all the way until close. Fish was very greasy like they don't drain it first & sit it right on top of the Mac & cheese! Usually it's a fluffy piece of fish, this piece was small & had more skin than meat! Mambo sauce helped to over power the grease taste. This was a time I wish I would of known I was gone get a trash plate cause I would of saved $30 read more

This was my first time at this location. There was a DJ who was playing some really good music. It's a small space so get there early. The line got long at some points throughout our meal but the food came pretty fast. I had the fried shrimp, lemon pepper wings and lobster Mac. The food was hot and fresh and the shrimp with the Cajun tarter was my favorite! The wings were fried hard like I like and the ranch was good. The lobster Mac was just ok for me. It lacked flavor and I couldn't really taste the lobster. My friend had the fish and grits and the fish was amazing! We had the tequila sunrise mimosas and whew....they had us on tilt! Overall I would definitely go again for brunch. read more

It was a no for me but the locals loved it. They are known for their lobster Mac and cheese. Baby that ain't nobodies lobster. I'm from Florida and we know real seafood when we see and taste it. That was imitation crab meat, which is mushy in texture when cooked. I hate that they are lying to people. If they like it just call it seafood Mac and Cheese. No lobster was in this stuff. The chicken wings were fried too hard and had no flavor and I ordered lemon pepper. I can say one good thing the server were very kind. read more

Cuzzo's is delicious! The service was fast & the atmosphere is comfortable. I loved the music! They were playing jazzy instrumental covers to R&B songs from the 90s & 2000s. We enjoyed Lobster Mac & Cheese, Lemon Pepper, & the Strawberry Banana Pudding. Will definitely be coming back! read more

Avoid this place at all costs. I paid $22 just for a chicken and waffle combo which is insane. When the food arrived, the chicken was disgusting, it was gummy, chewy, and dry on the outside. It's like they use cheap chicken. Restaurants these days only consider profits over people. I got the sweet potato waffle which was OK. The waffle was nothing like "wow this is amazing" or anything like that. It was just OK. However, they charge $12 just for a waffle alone. I mean come on, $12 for a waffle is practically highway robbery. I got the sweet potato waffle because I can tell you with about 95% certainty, they use red dye #40 in their Red Velvet Waffles. I informed the staff regarding this, and they refused to give me a refund. If you want good chicken and waffles for a good price, go to Link and Pin, their chicken and waffles are very good and are only $19. The chicken tastes very good and they even serve it with real maple syrup, not the fake Smucker's maple syrup which is pure high fructose corn syrup that Cuzzo's serves. Thank me later. read more

Very nice, mac and cheese is great. Customer service is always on point cordial and polite.

I'll start this off by saying I only really had an issue with the service the food wasn't bad except one side we got. This was my first time in charlotte and I was with my girl trying to find some good soul food because that's what she wanted and this was the closest and best looking thing. I went in and spent a little under 70$ on food for me and her and at first the customer service was ok. We order some food and i got a side of the lobster mac which was really good and my girl got the normal mac. The food was fine except for the normal mac that my girl got it was kinda hard and didn't break apart that easy. My girl hadn't even took a bite so I thought with the amount of money I had spent I could ask them to take it off my bill. They gave me a really hard time and said that they didn't do refunds and I sat back down. They started talking bad about me and my girl from the counter when I wasn't rude or disrespectful AND didn't give them a hard time when they didn't refund it. We left after taking a video of the food for the review. Maybe they just had a bad day but I wouldn't go to this location just off the service and the food wasnt even as good as other soul food spots Ive been to in charlotte like "Sol delish" which was pretty similar in price. I spent a good amount of money to take my girl out somewhere and they were very disrespectful. They were talking trash when they saw us taking a video. read more

I went here on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't that busy. My boyfriend and I went to sit inside to eat. They had a variety of foods. I was in the mood for some chicken and waffles and that's what I got. I ordered the sweet potato waffle with some jerk wings. They gave me about 5 wings. They had about 5 flavors of sauces you can choose from for your wings. And I believe they had three flavors of waffles to choose from. When we arrived there was plenty of parking. When you walk in you place your order first and if you are eating at the restaurant you can take a seat and they will give you a number and they will bring the food out to your table. It's nothing fancy but it's a nice casual spot to have a meal. They had music playing in background which was nice. The food was good and flavorful. My boyfriend had the fish and shrimp and fries they had this Cajun tartar sauce which was really good for the seafood. This place was nice to have lunch. read more

I can always count on my coworkers to put me on to some banging food spots. Last week we chose Cuzzo's to order lunch from. I called in at 11 am when they opened and placed 5 orders for myself and my team. I ordered the Cajun wings and lobster Mac for myself. I picked up the food about 30 mins later and everything was ready. I thought the lobster Mac was gonna be a tiny scoop but nahh this was a very decent sized plate. Lots of traditional fried and unhealthy food. If you want unhealthy and typical attitude along with the meal, this is the place to go!

I was expecting more. The family and I went for brunch on a Sunday. They open at 12pm and we were there at about 5 after...second people in line. They have dine-in option, but I'm not sure why. We had to pay for our food up front-which included a 5% "service charge" and then asked for gratuity before being served. The woman taking our order didn't want to be there as her hospitality was non-existent. We ordered...paid...then sat down. Paid .50 for a cup of tap water ‍. We waited an hour for our food. It came out in plastic to go containers...no tray. So...yeah, we tipped on service we didn't get. They forgot our .50 tap water so we had to get up to get it. The food...it was hit or miss. So the waffles were fantastic. The fried shrimp was a little salty but palatable. The chicken wings-every flavor-was fried hard and reheated at least 3 times over. Dry is an understatement. The collard greens were interesting. I'll leave it at that. But the most disappointing thing was the lobster mac n cheese. I couldn't find the lobster and then when I finally found a piece, it was imitation lobster. Please don't call it lobster mac n cheese if it doesn't have lobster in it...call it surimi mac n cheese...minced meat mac n cheese...fish mac n cheese...whatever! Music was poppin though! I'm conflicted about what to write. Let me 1st say the Lobster Macn'cheese is BANGIN, The FLOUNDER is as well. I Love supporting my BOSB's. But why is it the same no matter we go in Charlotte? 40-minutes before your food arrives at the table and there are other guest that come in afterwards and they get their food 1st. It's not because they only ordered fries and chicken tenders. Stop it! Regardless of what I say here, they will still make their money and at the end of the day that's all some may care about. Try to do better cuzzos. I'm not saying I won't come back but, this visit yesterday reminded me why I chose to not frequent here more often over the years. Concerned guest! The staff did check on us and tried to expedite our order, but with the 25-30 minute wait signage, it still took 45 minutes with other customers coming and going well before ours came out. Still good though!! read more

Now I never been disappointed with anything I have ordered from the Tuckaseegee location. Today me and a co worker decided to order lunch from the N.Tryon location as this was her first experience trying Cuzzo's. Well i must say her first visit was very disappointing. We ordered the six wings and half lobster Mac n cheese. The wings were so hard like they had been sitting out for hours. I placed the order at 12:55pm and received an alert that the food would been ready at 1:10 through 1:20. I arrived at 1:15 so there was no way the meal should have been room temperature. We both had to go microwave our meals. Well I guess I would never make this suggestion again especially for this location. read more
