Wing and shrimp plate with double Mac and Philly cheesesteak egg roll
Luis C.

Not sure if this is the official page for Shell's, but they definitely deserve more reviews and pictures. Shell's visited the Greensboro area and there was already a big line at opening time so I was excited. The Mac is so cheesy and creamy that I had to skip the fries and get double Mac!! Wings are cooked perfectly. Crispy and juicy at the same time! I ordered the special sauce, but they messed up on my order and tossed the wings in Buffalo sauce. Still yum. Can never go wrong with fried shrimp! The MVP is definitely the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls. They're very popular on the internet so it was fun to finally try them! I will be back for more of these next time Shell's is back in town!

It was all Hospitality. The first interaction was like we had stepped into someone's home and were told to make ourselves at home. And the rest was the same. The gentleman walked us through the menu. Pretty much the entire line up of options. Not a condescending or impatient tone - warm and welcoming. Same with the next person. Even convinced my friend to get a dessert. Not that I need my arm twisted. The dining area was well kept. Clean. The condiments were well stocked and organized. I saw two different team members taking care of business there even asking if I needed anything. Bathrooms were immaculate. Don't see that very often - at least I don't in public places. The food was what we were looking for. Comfort food. With taste, not muted - just good flavor and consistency. A far cry from the bland, dry foods we had experienced the days prior. It was one of the first meals I really enjoyed on this trip to NC. Not saying that others were bad - they just didn't align with my taste preferences/expectations. Something about how Fried Chicken and Pork Chops are prepared in the South (or NOT California). Tender. Juicy. Mac & Cheese - not watery or overcooked. And I don't think I've ever had bad collared greens in my life. It's one of the handful of green vegetables I love having. Almost forgot parking. It's in kinda a plaza/strip mall setting. Free space and lots when we went (lunch). Not having to look for or pay for parking is always a plus for me. So, it's a chain. But I'd definitely go back. I almost ordered more but was saving the stomach space for dinner.

My husband and I ordered takeout from this place-- and we will not be doing that again…read more What we ordered: Smothered chicken Bbq pork ribs Lima beans Yams Fried okra Mac and cheese Red velvet cake Chocolate cake Cornbread ... literally everything was lacking in flavor, and the cake had a strange aftertaste. The okra was soft and to say it was fried is a stretch. I'm honestly very disappointed, and might be willing to try again because we know all restaurants have bad days but I would need to be in person to see if that was the problem with my experience.

It's not a huge place, so it can easily get crowded with customers waiting for their orders. We weren't in line long, so that was a plus. However, once it was our turn to place our orders, we both said, "Hello, how are you?" She looked at us, turned her head, and said, "What can I get you?" We looked at each other and chuckled. We told her it was our first time here, and she helped us understand how the menu worked, so we placed our order. I ordered the fried whiting, mac & cheese, and green beans. After placing our order, we received a ticket with a number on it and slid over to the left to an older lady (cashier) who seemed to be frustrated or possibly tired. Her attitude wasn't welcoming, but she wasn't mean. She confirmed our order, and then we paid for our food and were told it would take about 25 minutes. We waited in the car until our food was ready. I went back in to get our food, and a gentleman was ahead of me, and he asked one of the staff there, "Who took the orders over the phone?" She said, "I don't know." He said, "They need to work on their customer service skills because to come here to support the business and to be treated like that ain't good." No apology was offered or anything. It assured me that it wasn't just me who felt this way. However, I will return because I enjoyed what I ordered. Give them a try!!!

We ordered the Sol Sunrise and the Berry Delish - Both were not only good but strong as well. Our waitress was polite and offered some good recommendations on what to get. We ended up getting the Salmon and Waffles w/ "Homestyle Fries" (roasted potatoes). The Salmon was perfectly seasoned with a nice crunch to it. The waffle was fine - Didn't look or taste like a fresh waffle but again it was fine. Those potatoes??? 10/10 - I could've just gotten those and would've been content since I'm an avid potato lover! Also, got the Sol All Star Breakfast. Waffle, Eggs, Turkey Bacon, and "Homestyle Fries." Everything was cooked as expected and taste was good. It's a nice brunch spot right at the boardwalk. Great location placement for any type of group.

The restaurant was busy but not overly so. They were able to seat us right away. There were lots of delicious items on the menu. My friends all got the salmon (two grilled and one fried). I got the crabcake because I just have to be different, I guess. They brought out cornbread muffins with honey butter that were delicious. They were really soft and cake-like and the honey butter topping was awesome. Two of us got side salads for our side and they came out with the meal, which isn't my preference but the food came out quickly any way so it was fine. The side salads were MASSIVE. Lettuce, cheese, tomatoes and onions (removed from mine) in a huge bowl. Probably could have been a meal to itself. The food came out and there was some confusion on sides that were mismatched and all of the salmons were grilled (instead of the one fried). Everyone really enjoyed their meal. I kinda wish I had gotten the salmon because it looked amazing and really well seasoned. The crab cake I had was good too. I think it had their Garlic Parmesan Cream sauce on top. The crab cake was big and had plenty of crab. I think I would have preferred a traditional tartar sauce on the side. I got their mac and cheese for my other side. It was super creamy and cheesy. It was also topped with the garlic parmesan cream sauce. Very tasty. Service was good. Not ton of visits to the table but I don't think we ever wanted for anything. My total with tip was about $40 and I think it was worth it for all the food I got. Would be a fun place to return too! Good job, Sol'Delish!

Everything was cooked to perfection and well seasoned! That fish was fried right okay! Hubs got the grits, fried lobster tail and blackened shrimp. So good! Loved the music they were playing and the volume was perfect. Tables are pretty closer together. Overall, great experience and food was AMAZING! I was scared to come because o heard that you'll wait too long even with a reservation. Happy that wasn't my experience. Planning to go back.
