Because of that, I trusted her to make sure the foundation was done properly. Unfortunately, the foundation was extremely bulky and did not lay flat. The braid down created a lot of unnecessary height and bulk underneath the sew in, which made my head look significantly larger and gave the finished style a very bulky/helmet like appearance. I actually asked her during the appointment if the foundation was making my head look bigger and bulky, and her response was, "I only did what you wanted." I found that response especially disappointing because the issue wasn't what style I requested the problem was how the foundation was constructed. The braid down was not done in a way that supported the flat, natural foundation she had emphasized was so important. I understand that sew-ins take time and effort, and despite being unhappy with the result, I still left a generous tip because I appreciated the time she spent on me and wanted to be kind. However, I don't think the result reflected the quality or technique I was expecting. I'm ultimately very disappointed with the outcome and had to consider finding another stylist to correct the foundation. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not recommend this service and I would not return. I hope the stylist takes the feedback seriously because the foundation is such an important part of a sew in, and in my experience, that was where the biggest issue was. If you are gonna spend over 300$ dollars on a sew in i expect it to look 10x better then what i got, as well as having a stylist be kind to you during the process which I wasn't met with I understand that the beehive foundation is supposed to be flat, but my concern was never that I wanted the foundation itself to be bulky. My concern is that the end result has excessive bulk in the back and makes my head look disproportionately large, almost like a helmet. That is not the type of volume I was asking for. This was my first time getting this particular hairstyle, which is why I was asking so many questions throughout the appointment. When a client is unfamiliar with a technique and is asking for guidance, I feel the stylist should explain what would and wouldn't work with their desired look and help guide them toward the appropriate option, rather than simply doing exactly what they ask without explaining the potential result. I also specifically asked during the appointment whether the bulk would make my head look big, and I was told that she "only did what I wanted." I don't think that's a fair response when I was actively asking for professional guidance because I was unfamiliar with the process. I still tipped generously because I appreciated the time she spent on my hair, but that doesn't change my disappointment with the final result. I wasn't asking for a completely flat hairstyle. I wanted volume in the hair, not a bulky foundation that makes the back of my head look enlarged. I think that's an important distinction.
