I rarely ever write a review that says a place is terrible. I try to find some saving grace for every business. I'm pretty sure nobody starts a business that they want to really suck. Unfortunately, Cutaia's new location, on Buffalo Road near North Chili is a failure. Cutaia's on Chili Ave has always had a reputation for fine meats. The Buffalo Road location is nice and new and shiny, but the quality of the meat we bought was a huge disappointment. My wife bought a pound of ground beef, two Ribeye steaks, and a chicken breast.
First, we made a couple of hamburgers. It's hard to describe how tasteless and bland they were. Even condiments didn't help. We enjoy our meats on the rare side, which always means they'll be juicy. Not these. Dry as a desiccant. My wife had browned some of the meat for spaghetti sauce but ended up throwing it away. It was just awful.
Next, we moved on to the steaks. $12.00 worth of Ribeye steaks, which, besides a filet, is supposed to be a great cut of meat. Again, flavorless. And the gave a new meaning to tough. You could chew and chew, but they never lived up to the reputation of Ribeyes. My wife commented that the best way to enjoy them was "Chew the flavor out of them and spit the remaining meat out". That's just sad.
Lastly, the chicken. It's just chicken! We opened the package that we had refrigerated two and a half days before, and a terrible smell overwhelmed us. Straight to the trash.
So, everything we bought was a disappointment. This is not typical of Cutaia's. I don't know how long this location has been open, but at this rate, I don't think it will last long. If only one of the items had been bad, I wouldn't be writing this review. I don't like writing bad reviews, but this one was earned. Maybe others have had great purchases at this location. I've bought meats at the Chili Avenue location and enjoyed them very much. My wife and I will be moving to Arizona soon, so I won't be buying any more from Cutaia's. I hope that if any of you do business there, you have pleasant things to say. Happy Trails. read more
