I go this place because they are specialized in afro hair and this is very rare to find in Dublin. It's not so far from town, you can walk from Dame Street to there. And it lasted! The salon itself if really quirkily decorated and I adored the weird and wonderful mix of décor. It is a bit difficult to locate, down the very end of the lane next to Avalon Hostel, on the corner. I will certainly return before any of the upcoming summer events, as I'm too damn lazy to sort it myself!

I knew the place is a bit upscale, so upon entering I already had expectations of what my service and the final product was going to be like. The staff was great, I actually had a few people working on me as my stylist attended to other customers at certain stages of my colour and cut. Everyone was friendly and hospitable, but it wasn't over the top. About 2.5 hours later, I had a new do, a fresh colour and was very happy with my service and my results. Go to the till to pay with my gift card and the cashier tells me that their credit card machine has not been working all day and that I'd need to pay for the service in cash. She pointed me to a bank machine so I could take out some cash to pay for the service. I was not only upset but frustrated. You check in with reception when you come in and pay at the same counter. You'd think they'd have a sign up saying that it was cash only due to credit card issues or warn you before your service, as I'm sure I'm was not the only one redeeming a gift card. Walked out 255 euro down, that I was not intending to spend, and still have a gift card for 200 euro. Talk about a great service being ruined in 30 seconds.

The staff was very attentive and friendly, had a nice scalp massage during my shampoo, was offered beverages at several occassions, although my stylist was a bit blunt and cut a few inches more off than we discussed (cutters do like to cut) and didn't style my hair the way I would usually wear it I liked it. I walked out with a chic new style, and the best fringe I have ever had in my life that no one has been able to replicate. 55yoyos for a haircut... worth it.

The reason I am leaving this review is because I sent an email regarding my concerns and nobody got back to me which is so unprofessional. I went in looking for a fringe and a few long layers and my hair was pretty long to be told my forehead was too short for a fringe. I did explain twice that I had one before and I loved it but again I was told it wouldn't work so I accepted that and was told then that I would have 2-3 inches taken off my hair as I expressed more than once I wanted the length left and that was fine as I knew it needed a little off it but there was way more than 3 inches taken off. I was told I would have long bangs at the side but I don't. It just looks all uneven in the front when it's straightened. It's far too thinned out and Sharon explained she wasn't thinning it but adding layers underneath so that it would sit nice when I blowdryed it. I also explained the one thing I didn't want was my hair cut straight across and that's exactly what I got. There is nothing positive I can say about my hair. It is ruined and I have a wedding in 6 weeks. I am now going to have to spend a lot of money to get hair extensions in. I didn't say anything when I was there because I was trying not to cry when I saw the end result. My partner just gasped when he saw it. I can honestly say I trusted that going to your salon and paying €112 that your head stylist knew what she was doing. I'm beyond upset. I certainly won't be returning and I didnt want to leave a negative review but this is just awful. Reveonna

For some reason it seems that Dublin likes to overcharge tons on getting a haircut. There's quite a few places that have deals for men, but alas us ladies get charged more and sometimes incur an extra fee for long hair! My saving grace was IS Organic. Their normal cut and dry comes in at a cool €20, what a refreshing change from the others! The staff were friendly and it was clean inside so I didn't really feel like I was sacrificing much going for a budget cut!

In other words exactly what I want in a hairdressers and for the price, well worthy of five stars. They close for a few weeks over the summer to take holidays which I think is brilliant. Understandably I think the extended closure caused confusion in other reviewers (they are back open now). It's 28 euro for a cut and blowdry with all organic products and a head massage thrown in for good measure. The Hungarian stylist, Julia (I think) is lovely and possibly the gentlest hairdresser I've ever experienced! Closed my eyes at one point and could hardly tell she was doing anything; none of the tugging you endure at some hairdressers. Showed her a photo of what I was looking for and she delivered, didn't feel rushed either.
