I've been here a couple of times, the first to Elaine for an emergency colour after a really bad dye job elsewhere. She was so nice and really managed to get my hair back to something more presentable. I also went in earlier this week to get my hair done for a wedding. I was booked in with Matthew for a blowdry but he ended up suggesting setting instead. The end result was pretty much exactly like the picture I'd shown him. He was so sweet and there was none of the awkward hairdresser chats had in many other places I've been. I'm going back next week before another wedding and looking forward to seeing the results. Really really rate this salon. Finding a good hairdresser you get on with is harder than finding an honest polititian. But I may have struck the nail on the head here. A few points that make this salon what it is; - The staff. Super friendly, really easy to get on with, and professional. - The skills. Hillary did my hair and took a lot of time and energy to sit down with me beforehand to understand exactly what I wanted, and really did a wonderful job when I came back for the colour / chop we discussed - The atmosphere. You can tell that the people working here really enjoy it - there's a good atmosphere which is easily picked up on, and important to feel when you're hanging round for a few hours - The location. Right in the centre of town, duh! - The price - really competitive pricing for the location and skill level of stylists. They don't try to push product on you either which is even better All in all, I'll definitely be back! read more

It's always pretty stressful the first time you try a salon or a new hair stylist. I have very difficult curly hair, and quickly gained confidence in Kathy as we discussed my concerns and what I wanted. The cut I got from Kathy was PERFECT, which is astounding considering it was her first time working with my hair. She is clearly a highly skilled stylist, conducts herself with great professionalism, and was also fun to chat with! The salon is super cute and in a very convenient location. I also LOVE that they carry Davines hair products - very high quality stuff. I will definitely be returning, and would highly recommend this salon to others - and I'd especially recommend Kathy as a stylist to any curly haired folks! read more

I moved to Dublin last August and mourned the loss of my stylist in New York for probably too long. By the New Year, I was in desperate need of a haircut. My haircut here was so good, I made a Yelp account just to leave a five-star review. Hillary is a wizard. I wear a full fringe, which can go very wrong very quickly. But Hillary really listened to what I wanted, was very patient when I had no idea what I was talking about, and gave great advice. I ended up with the best hair, not to mention the best fringe, of my life. Furthermore, the staff are really lovely and helpful and the atmosphere of the place is great. It's like a toned-down Anthropologie catalog in there, which I mean in the best way. Anyway, I am so happy to have found this place and cannot recommend it highly enough. read more

I came here while visiting Ireland for the first time. I've been living elsewhere in Europe for about half a year, and haven't had a haircut in that time. My hair is normally short and curly, but it had obviously grown out quite a bit. Adam did a fantastic job with bringing my hair back into a short, curly bob. He listened attentively when I talked about how I wanted my hair to look, and also asked questions about my normal care and styling routine. When having curly hair, it can be a bit stressful when seeing a new stylist, since not everyone knows how to cut it, but Adam obviously knows how to work with curls! As regards the salon itself, all of the staff I interacted with were very friendly and helpful, and the location was easy to find. If I'm ever in Dublin again and in need of another haircut, I will definitely come back. read more

My first time at Aviary Lane. I walk past this salon a lot, and actually wasn't aware it was there. After trying out the last salon a few times, it wasn't my cuppa tea. I was so surprised on how easy and quick it was to book an appointment. I turned up just in time and was pleasantly greeted. I normally decline on the offer of tea but I was frozen from the fresh winter winds we are having at the moment and needed something hot to warm up. I was told that it will be ready after I have my hair washed. I was led upstairs, and met Ralph, my stylist. The decor as I looked around was stylish but no brash, it was very pleasant and so was the music. It made the environment very relaxing. Ralph guided me to the basins to wash my hair after a brief but pretty much on the dot with how to cut my hair. I'm pretty easy going but I'm also pretty adventurous and most people are terrified to do anything crazy as I have a pretty round face. The experience overall was fantastic, at least this time when I got my hair tested to see if I can get some cool colours in my hair next time, my stylist did come back and did a consultation with me, and showed me some wonderful colours I've never seen. Ralph is a colourist as well. Oh, I forgot to mention, there was tea when I got back from having my hair washed, not just a cup, saucer and teaspoon, it was on a tray alongside an asian teapot, ornate jug of milk and sugar bowl... and wait for it... two choccie mini cupcakes (which I didn't eat). But wow! Customer satisfaction to the max. And I got a follow-up text. It's all the small things that catches my eye. It's a wonderful looking and understated yet stylish salon with friendly staff. I definitely will recommend this salon. Can't wait for my next visit. read more

Lovely Salon YES Lovely Staff YES Heard great things and now it was time to try it out for myself; as a person with short hair my heart bleeds overtime I need a trim, particularly as I'm on a mission now to grown out my short cut, nearing my shoulders now I was reluctant to let anyone with a scissors near it. Stylist was Laura, immediately she could relate with me as she also done the short pixie once upon a time too... She worked with the length and gave me great tips and tricks to work the hair until it gets to a manage length. I had an angled cut so one side is shorter than the other and whilst it would have been easier for her to chop all my hair up to that, she didn't. She nicely pressed me as to whether I'm definitely on the grow it long as it would mean probably me still not 100% happy with the shape on this cut but by another 2/3 months I'd have more growth, and in fact let's build a 6 month plan for growing this down. Seriously, I've never had attention to it like that. I'm looking forward to working with Laura to grow down my hair... I know I'm in great hands here! read more

I love getting my hair and lashes done here so much that I was hesitant to write a review because I want to keep it to myself. The lashes by Hyde are better than any of the other lash locations in town and I know because I have tried them all. The lashes I got here stay on twice as long as those put on by blink and wink or the lashes I got at Christopher lash couture and are more comfortable. I've gotten blow dries a few times and it's a great experience. They give free lattes or even wine at night if you'd prefer and the salon is clean and comfortable. Everyone at aviary is lovely and nice. I can't recommend it enough. read more

This little gem was recommended to me 2 years ago. My hair was thinning after having 2 babies in quick succession and the thoughts of a trip to the hair dressers made me tense... I was made feel totally relaxed from the get go, they took time to listen to me and how I was feeling about my hair..made suggestions (none of which included the usual sales pitch on snazzy products they were selling), gave me really sound advice and I walked out with my hair feeling thicker and fuller than it had in months. I was hooked! The atmosphere was unlike any hairdressers I had experienced before, a really calm environment and friendly faces everywhere. Aviary lane is a hidden gem. In the past, I have found going to the hairdressers quite stressful. There's no transparency in the process and I've always had the fear going to pay because I never know how much it's going to cost. And have also found a lot of hairdressers don't listen or give you the best guidance. You are rushed in, rushed out and it's just not relaxing. I've found the opposite in Aviary lane. Time is given to you as a client to know what's going on so you can enjoy the experience and be excited about your hair!! read more

Not only did I get unlimited cups of delicious tea, apple cakes and current glossies to read I got a fab haircut and blowdry from Matthew and a brilliant colour from Pamela (I've also had an equally amazing colour done by Elaine previously). It was my second time to AL. And I have no words!!! They are simply amazing! I'm a type of customer who doesn't really know what they want... My stylist was Chrissie and she listed to my ideas and than she took time to check my hair, play around to see what type of layers I'll need, what style of fringe. And it came just wow! I'm absolutely in love with my new hair. Plus she gave me lots of useful advices on hair care, product lines and options for hair dyes. And another plus, I came to salon with a stress level 11 out of 10 and somehow she made all go away. She was chatty just enough to keep me comfortable and while washing my hair she gave the best sculpt massage I ever had! Definitely coming back! read more

I am so happy I found this salon and stylist Kathy! I had my hair cut at another salon and the stylist didn't listen to me and ended up cutting/razoring my hair a little too much, giving me weird layers and shaving off a lot of volume. Kathy was able to fix the mess and give me exactly the cut I was looking for. I was even 30 minutes late and she did her best to accommodate me, which was really nice considering they can only really wait 15 minutes if you're running late. She is the first stylist I have seen in Dublin who I would recommend to my friends/family. So thank you so much Kathy!!!! And I also got a beautiful blowdry from another lady whose name I forgot (sorry). I didn't wash it out immediately like I normally do, she did an amazing job. :) read more

Don't recommend this salon! I chose this salon due to the great reviews here online. What a HUGE mistake! My hair was better when I went in than when I came out. I asked for auburn/red shades of highlights. No brash one all over colour!! I mentioned clearly "whatever you do please don't make me a ginger red or a punky red". They did both on the same day... lucky me! Highlights went wrong and I got ginger hair. They tried to fix it by putting a semi permenant strong red all over my hair to tone it down, which I thought was only going to be more of a rinse. Nope, I went to a really strong punky red. All I really wanted was a Raquel Welch red. A classy red head. They were nice enough to bring me endless amounts of cake and tea but this cannot repair the damage thats been done to my hair. Its going to take me months now to get back my original condition in my hair and more money to get it fixed by another salon. I'm sure the salon is good if you play it safe but if you want a colour change or a different cut, don't gamble your hair for it. Find a salon that are experienced and are passionate about you and your hair! Lastly, First salon not to receive any pampering during washing my hair. It was wash and go! They didn't bother including a head massage like most salons do. If your new to Dublin, don't waste your money here! My confidence is rock bottom regards to my hair. Condition is now dry and brittle. I couldn't go back to let them fix it. I just couldn't bare my hair going for a round 3! read more
