We had an excellent experience working with CustomBuiltIns on our custom cabinets, desks, and media center. From start to finish, the entire process was smooth and well organized. A special thank you to our project manager, Doug, who was incredibly responsive, easy to work with, and communicative throughout the project. His team was professional, detail-oriented, and clearly took pride in their craftsmanship. They kept us updated with progress photos along the way and provided material samples to help us confidently make design decisions, which made the entire process much easier. What stood out the most was their commitment to quality even after installation. Once everything was completed, Doug personally came by to do a final walkthrough, making sure every detail met our expectations and promptly addressing the few touch-ups we requested. That level of customer service and follow-through really set them apart. We're thrilled with how everything turned out and would highly recommend CustomBuiltIns to anyone looking for high-quality custom cabinetry or built-in furniture. Thank you to Doug and the entire team for bringing our vision to life! read more

We had a built-in bookcase with ladder and custom closet installed by this company. The work done was beautiful. Doug was friendly, thorough in explaining everything, responsive and accommodating to requests and problem issues during the entire process. The foreman, Erik, is a master craftsman carpenter. He is detail-oriented and skilled at what he does. We also had another closet that just needed to be re-balanced, and Erik fixed that like it was a piece of cake. He went above and beyond to make sure all of the drawers were straightened and drawer pulls were tightened in that closet as well. The entire team knew exactly what we wanted and how to execute the project from beginning to end. We are hoping to do more projects with them in the future! read more

I had Custom Built-ins design and install a built-in bookshelf and drawers around a big window in our Master Bedroom. It was not a small project and I had very specific design style that I wanted for the unit. Jeannie and Doug were great to work with. Jeannie put together an initial quote after discussing my design ideas and giving me feedback on what would work and the type of wood that would be needed. Doug worked with me to create 3d CAD models of the variations I was considering to visualize what each would look like before ai finalized the design. They were very quick to respond to my questions and requests for changes during installation. The final product looked just as I had in mind. read more

A long overdue review for CustomBuilt-Ins. We can't thank Doug and Eric enough for everything they did for us. We had a water leak in our kitchen Memorial Day of 2025. Repipe complete, then the builder came in. The project was to replace the island, lower cabinets of one wall, and repaint the kitchen. They took our check and started. Then virtually no progress in June, July, August, September, and October. I eventually drove to their shop to get my cabinets as they were unable to return them. We reached out to Doug at the beginning of November and he said they could help us out. They custom built and installed our island. They rebuilt our custom kitchen cabinets, and finished the kitchen painting. We were asking them to come in and finish a project that they had no history or familiarity with what we wanted, right before Thanksgiving. Doug and Eric spent time talking and working with us so we were all on the same page. Schedules made, notification messages of arrivals, and we always had a clear understanding of what will be done each day. We hope to have them back for other projects, and have recommended them to friends and family. THANK YOU CustomBuilt-ins !! read more

Update: July 2025- We completed our third custom built-in project with Doug and his team and had another fantastic experience. Highly recommend! This project was very customized and focused on creating a loft over a bed space, flanked by built-in bookcases. We were very particular about the space and design and Doug was great consulting with us through each step. They assembled and weight tested the loft piece before delivering it and installing it. Thank you for another awesome custom home solution for us! read more

Doug and his team were amazing! They made 2 vanities, 2 custom cabinets with doors and shelves and they wrapped our fireplace. Everything was made to our specifications and they adjusted on site for the slight changes that we made. They were communicative until the very end. After they finished everything, Doug did the final walk through and said there were some changes he wanted to make to the cutouts in the drawers. So had his team take them back, make the changes and bring them back for final installation. Was very happy thoughout the entire process and was very thankful for their patience because we had a lot of delays on our end with the rehab. I will definitely use them again for any wood working that I will want to get done! read more

I had an excellent experience with them. My previous tenant had broken three kitchen cabinet doors. The original manufacturer had stopped making those doors so I was having a hard time finding matching doors. These guys came to my rescue and built 3 doors from scratch and they matched the style and paint. The price was reasonable. I am very happy with their work and would strongly recommend this business. read more

Doug and the team at CustomBuilt-Ins did such a professional job on our media unit, we were completely blown away by the results. We came with a lot of ideas and the team handled the rest. Anything we thought of, they had an answer for. From recessed lighting to cable management, and shelving solutions to store our record collection. The carpentry itself is immaculate. We would love to work with these guys again for our next project. read more

They built for us 2 pairs of beautiful 5-light French doors that look like they were original in our 1930's home. They accommodated a lot of special requests--UV-blocking glass, special hardware and cremone bolts, African mahogany (for its stability and weatherability) and use of a (customer-supplied) UV-inhibiting pigmented oil finish. I found them after another customer maker found they couldn't handle this project and meet the rail dimensions requested. read more

Outstanding! Doug and his talented team of woodworkers created a custom bookcase that transformed my redundant dining room into a professional office space. I was so impressed that I had them rebuild, paint and install several old unfinished bookcases that now look like they were originally built-ins. All of this was done very quickly to accommodate a move but with no reduction in attention to detail, including customized moldings inspired by the original house interior, spot-on color matches, and professional finishes. Doug's design skills are impressive: he shared his 3D plans, sought my input, and was responsive to my requests. As someone who specializes in historical preservation, I particularly appreciated how he integrated original details of my home in his bookcase design; as an academic, I was thrilled to find a source for real wood shelves strong enough to support my innumerable books. The entire team was a joy to work with, the process was quick, and the cost was reasonable. Highest recommendation!! read more

I wanted a custom bookcase/media center built but was not quite sure how to begin. Jeannie from CustomBuilt-ins spent considerable amount of time with me on the phone outlining options and working on the design. Doug (the owner) was wonderful to work with, kept me informed at every step, and was so patient as we worked through the whitewash finish getting it just right! And finally, Salazar and his crew were so professional as they worked on the installation, offering excellent advice as decisions needed to be made, even suggesting taking several pieces back to the shop because he thought the whitewash finish needed an additional coat. They kept the work site clean and neat. It is so great to work with a contractor where the entire team communicates well with me. I couldn't be happier and definitely recommend working this company. read more

Doug and his team were extremely great from start to finish. His whole team was really ontop of getting everything going and making sure things were ahead of schedule! Doug even threw in some free cabinet drawer boxes as a congratulatory gift for our new home purchase. Erik, who actually came out to do the installation, was also very impressive and took care of every concern that we had. When our countertop contractor asked him to remove an installed piece, and drill some holes, he took care of it no problem and patched the holes. read more

I am once again more than impressed by Custom Built-Ins/CFM's customer service and the quality furniture they produce! Because of them and the ability they have to turn my ideas into something tangible, I am constantly trying to figure out new projects they can build and bring to life at my home! I just ordered more shelves again and look forward to future custom-builds. They are truly the best in the biz! I just finished working with this company to get a built-in completed in our Great Room. Here's a step-by-step review: Initial consult was great -- Doug came out to discuss the idea and shared his thoughts. Nice guy, great conversation and fairly experienced. Next was communication with the back office staff regarding the steps we would undergo, the deposit, the color sampling, etc. This process was handled efficiently; I was rather impressed with the professionalism in the process. The next phase was Design. The CAD renderings are certainly a bit difficult to understand, but we got through it. I was basically told that I'm not expected to approve the measurements, but the overall design. The schedulers contacted me for the install appointment. The conversations with this group were a bit confusing -- e.g They would ask for my availability, but not tell me how many hours were needed or weekday vs weekend. We ended up having more back and forth in getting the appointment set than I would have hoped for, but overall I was surprised with how quickly they were able to get the install appointment setup after the design had been approved. Now for execution! The window seats came out beautiful on the outside -- they match the stain of the existing unit. The drawers glide nicely and the unit it very functional. The material used on the inside of the unit was a bit underwhelming, but still functional. Overall, 4.5 stars for the experience. I've already contacted Doug again for our next project as I get the upholstered cushions completed on this project! read more

I bought a house with a tiny master closet. I didn't want California Closets like I did in my previous homes. I found Custom Built Ins on Yelp with great reviews so I decided to reach out. Jeannie immediately reached out and got started on brainstorming ideas on what I might like and made use of all the available space in the closet. We came up with the design together for the closet and also added in a beautiful Armoire (built in wardrobe) in our bedroom. Doug and his team came over installed and made sure we were happy with the final product. I can't thank them enough because I was really apprehensive on how everything would turn out. It's actually my favorite part about the whole house. I honestly can't wait to work with them again! I've even recommended them to my friends! read more

Working with the design and install team at Custom Built-ins was an excellent experience. When I went into this project of building a corner wall unit I already had an idea of what I wanted - and that's exactly what Doug, the designer, drew out. It was obvious that the shorter wall presented some challenges. Doug went through several iterations and drawings before we found the one that fit the space the best and looked the sleekest in the space. As the production process started, Doug continued to follow up with me confirming all of the details. When Eric and Brian, the installers, arrived they also asked questions and confirmed they were doing what was intended. They were absolute professionals and the wall unit is beautiful. Additionally, everyone I worked with was courteous, pleasant and easy to work with - and fast. They did what they said they would do in the time frame they said they could have it completed. I have another project to replace the linen cabinets in the upstairs bathrooms and will definitely be calling Custom Built-ins when the time comes. read more

The original owner of my house didn't choose the builder built-in option for an alcove in my family room. I was looking for a custom cabinetry designer/builder for a built-in base cabinet with above counter shelves to install in the alcove. We are impressed with this company and totally satisfied with our decision. From our initial meeting with Doug, throughout the entire planning and coordination stages and during the final installation of our custom bookshelves/entertainment center in our home - everything went smoothly like a well-oiled machine. They really know this business and they do it so well. Kudos to Doug, the designers, the machinists and the master installers who put it all together! I am thrilled with my built-in "library," and very much enjoyed working with this team. The process was terrific, from start to finish. The design I initially had in mind was impractical, and they helped guide me towards something more functional and ultimately much better for my family's needs. They were patient with me as we finalized the design, and very detail oriented. The work was done quickly, neatly, and on schedule. And the outcome is just beautiful. We get many compliments on it, and, most importantly, it makes us happy--it looks just as I'd hoped but better. Doug and I continued to communicate either by text, email, or phone just to make sure nothing was left to chance. Doug was prompt and professional every time either one of us had a question that needed to be answered and that alleviated any uncertainty. I researched many companies and Jeannie and Doug were by far the most helpful, professional, and trustworthy. I needed a unique entertainment center built into my loft's wall. My loft's ceiling is angled, I have an attic door and AC vent on my wall, which made the project extremely complicated and challenging. Other companies were unable to give me a reasonable quote due to the project being to challenging for their skills. However, I found Jeannie and contacted her regarding the obstacles. She came over and it was OBVIOUS they could do the project without hesitation. She designed it in no time kept in constant communication throughout the process. The entire company was outstanding and the installers were elite. Beautiful Crown molding was installed along with desks on both ends. Lights were added to add character and the attic door was hidden but I still have access to it. The entertainment center was more than we could ever dream of. The design and installation was out of this world! I will definitely recommend them to anyone and will use them again without hesitation. Thank you Jeannie and Doug; you guys are lifesavers. The house we bought was built in the early 1990's. In the family room is an alcove niche where a projection TV used to go in. I wanted a custom-built cabinet that would complement the family room and also match my kitchen cabinet. I searched for recommendations all over Facebook, Houzz, and Yelp. I contacted several contractors, but none of them was able to make a custom built-in cabinet to my liking; most of them only provided pre-made kitchen cabinets, even though they claimed they do custom cabinetry. After several searches, I stumbled upon CustomBuilt-ins.com / CFM Company Inc. on Yelp. I sent them a message and before the day was over, I received a response from Doug. I sent him pictures of the alcove niche and explained to him what I want done to it. He was the only one out of all the contractors I contacted that said, "Yes, we can do that! We are fully custom and build everything in our factory from scratch." The next step is to set up a consult. Jeannie came to our home and she was a pleasure to work with. She drew a design based on what I told her and provided us with a quote. Approximately a week later, we received an email with the attached proposed design in 3D. After design approval, we received 3 color sample shades to choose from and approve. Even though this whole process was in the middle of the Covid19 quarantine, we were updated that delivery is still on schedule. We received follow up emails keeping us up-to-date and informed regarding the whole process. We received a health and safety protocol email a week before install day, providing us with instructions how to keep their staff and client safe. On install day, 2 installers came on time, they were polite and professional. The installation process took almost all day but it was all worth it in the end. From consult to the finished product took about 6 weeks total. If you need custom cabinets done to your home, search no more, this is the company to go with. They are trustworthy and professional to deal with. Communication is very professional via email or by phone and easy to deal with.
