We had a built-in bookcase with ladder and custom closet installed by this company. The work done was beautiful. Doug was friendly, thorough in explaining everything, responsive and accommodating to requests and problem issues during the entire process. The foreman, Erik, is a master craftsman carpenter. He is detail-oriented and skilled at what he does. We also had another closet that just needed to be re-balanced, and Erik fixed that like it was a piece of cake. He went above and beyond to make sure all of the drawers were straightened and drawer pulls were tightened in that closet as well. I had Custom Built-ins design and install a built-in bookshelf and drawers around a big window in our Master Bedroom. It was not a small project and I had very specific design style that I wanted for the unit. Jeannie and Doug were great to work with. Jeannie put together an initial quote after discussing my design ideas and giving me feedback on what would work and the type of wood that would be needed. Doug worked with me to create 3d CAD models of the variations I was considering to visualize what each would look like before ai finalized the design. A long overdue review for CustomBuilt-Ins. We can't thank Doug and Eric enough for everything they did for us. We had a water leak in our kitchen Memorial Day of 2025. Repipe complete, then the builder came in. The project was to replace the island, lower cabinets of one wall, and repaint the kitchen. They took our check and started. Then virtually no progress in June, July, August, September, and October. I eventually drove to their shop to get my cabinets as they were unable to return them. We reached out to Doug at the beginning of November and he said they could help us out. They custom built and installed our island. They rebuilt our custom kitchen cabinets, and finished the kitchen painting. We were asking them to come in and finish a project that they had no history or familiarity with what we wanted, right before Thanksgiving. Doug and Eric spent time talking and working with us so we were all on the same page. Schedules made, notification messages of arrivals, and we always had a clear understanding of what will be done each day. Doug and his team were amazing! They made 2 vanities, 2 custom cabinets with doors and shelves and they wrapped our fireplace. Everything was made to our specifications and they adjusted on site for the slight changes that we made. They were communicative until the very end. After they finished everything, Doug did the final walk through and said there were some changes he wanted to make to the cutouts in the drawers. So had his team take them back, make the changes and bring them back for final installation. Was very happy thoughout the entire process and was very thankful for their patience because we had a lot of delays on our end with the rehab. They accommodated a lot of special requests--UV-blocking glass, special hardware and cremone bolts, African mahogany (for its stability and weatherability) and use of a (customer-supplied) UV-inhibiting pigmented oil finish. I just finished working with this company to get a built-in completed in our Great Room. Here's a step-by-step review: Initial consult was great -- Doug came out to discuss the idea and shared his thoughts. Nice guy, great conversation and fairly experienced. Next was communication with the back office staff regarding the steps we would undergo, the deposit, the color sampling, etc. This process was handled efficiently; I was rather impressed with the professionalism in the process. The next phase was Design. The CAD renderings are certainly a bit difficult to understand, but we got through it. I was basically told that I'm not expected to approve the measurements, but the overall design. The schedulers contacted me for the install appointment. The conversations with this group were a bit confusing -- e.g They would ask for my availability, but not tell me how many hours were needed or weekday vs weekend. We ended up having more back and forth in getting the appointment set than I would have hoped for, but overall I was surprised with how quickly they were able to get the install appointment setup after the design had been approved. Now for execution! The window seats came out beautiful on the outside -- they match the stain of the existing unit. The drawers glide nicely and the unit it very functional. The material used on the inside of the unit was a bit underwhelming, but still functional. Overall, 4.5 stars for the experience. I've already contacted Doug again for our next project as I get the upholstered cushions completed on this project! read more

Working with the design and install team at Custom Built-ins was an excellent experience. When I went into this project of building a corner wall unit I already had an idea of what I wanted - and that's exactly what Doug, the designer, drew out. I researched many companies and Jeannie and Doug were by far the most helpful, professional, and trustworthy. I needed a unique entertainment center built into my loft's wall. My loft's ceiling is angled, I have an attic door and AC vent on my wall, which made the project extremely complicated and challenging. The house we bought was built in the early 1990's. In the family room is an alcove niche where a projection TV used to go in. I wanted a custom-built cabinet that would complement the family room and also match my kitchen cabinet. I searched for recommendations all over Facebook, Houzz, and Yelp. She drew a design based on what I told her and provided us with a quote. Approximately a week later, we received an email with the attached proposed design in 3D. After design approval, we received 3 color sample shades to choose from and approve. Even though this whole process was in the middle of the Covid19 quarantine, we were updated that delivery is still on schedule. We received follow up emails keeping us up-to-date and informed regarding the whole process. We received a health and safety protocol email a week before install day, providing us with instructions how to keep their staff and client safe. On install day, 2 installers came on time, they were polite and professional. The installation process took almost all day but it was all worth it in the end. From consult to the finished product took about 6 weeks total. If you need custom cabinets done to your home, search no more, this is the company to go with. They are trustworthy and professional to deal with. Communication is very professional via email or by phone and easy to deal with.
