We have hired Vinnie and his crew with Custom Scapes for a couple hardscaping and landscaping projects in the last year and we are so happy with their work. This is a long overdue review, but I wanted to wait for after the worst of the rainy season since I had been concerned about flooding. We hired Vincent and Custom Scapes to install a path from the driveway and a small rounded seating area. We were very worried about drainage and the steepness of the hill for my elderly mother-in-law. Custom Scapes was timely, reliable, and detail oriented. They maintained excellent communication throughout the process. Admittedly, the path is a little steep for my mother-in-law to descend without assistance, but that is the fault of the terrain and not the company. The installed pavers are beautiful, solid and even. Safe for her unsure footing. Despite being in a water drainage path, there was absolutely no problem with flooding. Quality work! My wife and I decided that we wanted a paver patio in our backyard. After collecting three quotes, we decided to go with Vinnie and Custom Scapes. Vinnie's personality is what sold us. Vinnie is honest, friendly and organised. Emails were promptly addressed. Questions were answered. Options were given. Custom Scapes does not accept credit cards. Checks are the preferred payment method. A 50% deposit is required at the start of the project. The remaining 50% is due upon completion. Our project consisted of a 12'x12' paver patio. The cost was $2375 + tax. The project took two days to complete. On both days, Vinnie and his crew arrived on time and worked tirelessly throughout the day. Highly recommend. My wife and I bought a new house with an old concrete patio. The patio was raised up by 2 trees so when it heavily rained all the water flowed toward the house foundation and flooded into the crawlspace. We had to get the patio done, and decided we wanted a paver patio because of the look and cost compared to a poured concrete patio that will just crack again in the future. Vinnie came out and competitively quoted us, dealt with removing the tree stumps and massive roots that grew under the old patio, and worked hard through the snow and 20 degree temperatures every day until it was done. Vincent and his team are true professionals. Every aspect of my project was covered; communication was timely, design was seamless, and construction was meticulous. I did not have any inquiries left unanswered. The cost and availability of Custom Scapes was also competitive. My project consisted of a 3ft by 50ft retaining wall where the existing landscape was uneven with an overgrown maple tree. The tree was cut down and the stump was grinded (different contractor), but the left-over roots impeded the location of the new retaining wall. The roots were an unexpected road bump that took extra effort in removing but every retaining stone was checked for levelness by Vincent. Five stars to Custom Scapes for the excellent experience we had! Vinnie recently constructed a beautiful stone patio, a rock wall, and a BBQ pad. The crew showed up each day at 8 AM, and worked steadily until the job was complete. I had about 700 sqft of mulch that had largely been taken over by weeds (blood pressure rose every time I looked out my window at it). There were also a number of small trees I no longer wanted. I contacted Vinnie for a quote to remove the above and install grass. He promptly came out to take a look and provided me with a fair quote later the same evening. I was surprised when he mentioned being able to come out and start work the next morning. Most companies were 3-4 weeks out. I agreed and he came out around 9am the next morning. By the end of the first day the trees were gone, the weeds were gone and top soil was in place (generous amount to help the grass start off right). He then came out and laid down the grass the next business day. It was a couple of long days, but I could tell he and his co-worker were working very hard to do things right. Not only that, but I had several other large areas of mulch that had been taken over by weeds. He weeded them all for the original price. Definitely went above and beyond in that regard.
