The folks here were able to adapt a 135i muffler on my BMW 325i e90. I wanted a little more sound that wasn't obnoxious. Two other shops didn't want to take on this job because it was too custom, but this shop welcomed the challenge. They did a great job with the welds, custom brackets, and positioning to make this look oem +. Pricing was fair too.

I had the catalytic converter of my Toyota Highlander stolen from Westin LAX' parking lot during a recent road trip from the Bay Area to So Cal. My insurance agent got in touch with Walter @ Custom Muffler and Brakes who agreed to take the car in. I was worried that the converter won't be available I'd have to extend my trip or fly back later for the car. But Walter and his team came to the rescue. He found an original part through his network and fixed the car in less than 36hrs and I was on my way back to SF as planned! Walter is a true professional, spoke courteously, was empathetic to my situation and went the extra mile to fix the problem. Walter's niece went out of the way to pick up the part from the supplier. I highly recommend this shop for anybody with muffler/ brake issues... you will receive 5 star service!

As a ex mechanic I 100% regret NOT doing the work myself and taking it to this shop! - the absolute worst experience ever! Came in for catalytic converter and a check engine. THEY Upsold a water pump then a. Timing chain, fine I agreed the car had 135,000 miles Fast forward... not even a day later.. car check engine light still on and now saying it's the other cat, the car shuts off with low oil pressure, clearly the timing chain wasn't done correctly.. I brought it back several times to correct and they could never fix the Idle issue where it just dies at idle.. the guy said it's an old car just buy a new one lol after I spent 5000!!! Seriously?? Car still isn't right 5000 later and I just don't know if I can go back they said they wiling to do the cat for a discount but I cant swallow dumping more money on top of Broken promises and negligence! Stay away from this shop and tell your family to keep their hard earned money and take it elsewhere! Not only is car not fixed I'm down 5000! What a B! read more

I've been happy with this place in the past for doing a good job and fixing what I needed to get fix. This time I don't think they spent much time fixing my problem but finding things that may need replacing so in the end my problem was not fixed but the items they fixed were done well. After spending over $1000 my problem is still there and the explanation was he misunderstood me. Hard to give a 3 star when my problem didn't get fixed. read more

I needed an Oxygen Senor removed from a 2004 Cadillac SRX. I already figured out which sensor was bad and just needed someone that had the tools to remove it. The car is 20 years old and that was the only sensor not replaced so it was probably going to be stuck. I went to this place and Walter said he could do it and replace it within the next hour. His price was very reasonable and no complaints about me bringing in the part. Lots of shops like to buy their own parts and markup the part. Walter did not mind and told me I could wait in the waiting room. Sure enough the O2 Sensor was stuck but being a repair and muffler shop he knew all the tricks. He got it off and I was on my way within an hour. This place does all mechanical repairs and not just muffler and brakes. They were working on quite a few cars which is a good sign. Walter is very polite and had great customer service. Give this place a try. It is truly a 5 star repair shop. Thanks again for an excellent job and my check engine light is no longer coming on. read more

I was advised on all of my options which included taking immediate action on my oil and brakes- I honestly hadn't kept track of my oil in a while- knowing the first steps to take was really helpful in getting my car back in order. I was charge $1130.28 for a break job as well as, transmission, brake, and steering wheel fluid change. I came here because of the reviews but after I checked how much this shop charge me for labor alone ($640) I completely felt ripped off. I don't drive a fancy luxy car either, I own a 2010 HONDA CIVIC. It's messed up how they basically ripped me off when I came in to their shop in good faith. Never again. Im not a mechanic expert, but I know what it feels like to get ripped off. I would avoid this shop if I were you. read more

Avoid!!!! My husband came in to fix his brakes, within a month the brakes were making noises again. He took the car back, they "fix it." And within a few weeks, the brakes started making noises again. We decided to take it somewhere else because it was just a an ongoing problem that wasn't getting fixed. read more

I don't usually leave reviews, but had such a great experience at Custom Muffler and Brakes, that I wanted to spread the word. Walter is an honest guy who actually shows you what's wrong with your car. I took my daughter's 2004 Dodge Durango in for a new muffler and some issues with the suspension. He showed me all the broken parts that he needed to replace before doing the work. He finished when he said he would and the prices were reasonable. He also includes a one year warranty on the work. I'm so glad I found them, they're keepers! read more

I do NOT understand why he has such high rating, this is why I decided to take my car here to get the muffler checked. The "mechanic" was so vague didn't check the car just threw numbers $400-$500 then just made 1 call and said $1000...but never bothered to check the car just assumed. So disappointed I wasted my time here. read more

Went in today to do work on my camaro. Spoke with Walter and Ignacio to help with recommendations on making my car sound deep and loud. I had installed a borla axle back exhaust a few days before and they mentioned to see if I liked deleting the resonators. They gave me a great deal and if I need any more work, i will definitely come back. They saw me in a short period time and worked on it right away. Great service from this company. I love this place! Not only is it 3 mins away from my apt is trustworthy. Most places would rip you off but they tell you the real deal and prices are fair especially because car parts are not cheap. They have a small waiting room to be outside or inside. If is windy I recommend to bring a jacket just to be warm. The people are super friendly and they treat you like family I even brought my friend Vanessa for her car problems and they showed her what the problems was. She was happy with the results. read more

Found this place on yelp search. Called and found out they had a tire that fit my vehicle. Based on the reviews I meet we drove over. When I arrived they had to tie ready for me, but I had to wait while they worked on 2 other vehicles. Other than that great service. Would have given five stars but because of the 45 minute wait, I gave this company 4 stars. read more

I delayed bringing my car to the shop until a work stall with a lift was available to begin working…read moreimmediately. Alex told me that one would be available but when I arrived that wasn't the case. Therefore, he lied to me from the beginning. The job was completed the next day as he said it would but my car was left very dirty and greasy when I returned to retrieve it. When I asked for a rag to wipe the greasy from my shift knob, he proceed to wipe down the steering wheel and knob then used the same dirty rag on my door panel, scratching the paint. Alex informed me that my check engine light was on and tried to suggest that it may have already been that way before I brought my car to the shop. I was appalled at this suggestion for my car only needed a new clutch and nothing else. I'm sure he turned on the key and saw no such warning lights but was trying to cover up that it was damaged during their repair process. When I returned the next day to have them repair what they did, I was not greeted with respect and I will not return to this shop again, even if the check engine light returns. I was initially quoted a labor cost only to be baited and switched after he learning that I had a very nice vehicle. Albeit, the clutch works as expected but I cannot get over how smug and disrespectful Alex treated me during this entire time. One could say you get what you pay for but the disrespect is unacceptable, not to mention I had to wash my floor mat because it was so filthy. I made sure not to put them in my car when I brought it back. I had to spread paper bags all over the floor then I noticed they had their own paper shoe protection that was laying on the floor when I returned the second time. I think they do decent transmission work but if you care about how you are treated and the care of your car, I would not recommend them but if you want to go the economic route and do your own cleaning and hope to don't cause more harm to your vehicle then these are your options. The engine light wasn't on when I picked up my vehicle the second time, but they could have just erased it and may return in a few days. Alex never called me once to tell me my car was ready for pick up. I had to call him both times, and the first time I came to pick up my car, he told me he had texted about coming the next day after I already told him l'm on my way. We had never texted before and I later learned he never texted me at all, that's typical of my experience in a nutshell.

Albert was the only person who would work a manual transmission on the west side and would give me a ballpark figure. I spoke with Monica and Lydia on the phone who were both professional and affectionate in the way they dealt with me, a customer without a car and in major panic mode. I brought the car in for a diagnosis, which took one day. Albert and I agreed on a price for labor - which was well below what I was expecting. As I suspected I needed my clutch replaced, but parts for an 01' PT Cruiser were either not readily available or were way too expensive - and Albert kept me in the loop the whole time about pricing my parts, and keeping us within budget. Finally, Albert and I agreed we would both save money if I brought him parts that I could buy online. Even with the week it took for shipping, Albert did not stress me out over storing my car there for the time being - and when the parts arrived he had everything installed and running the next day - all for the same original price we had agreed to. Great value, good customer service, family owned and operated - with his sister and cousin handling phone calls - I really felt they took care of me and quoted me an honest and fair price, all the while giving me options as to how to get him the best parts. I rent cars for a living and always bring all my cars here. They take care of my cars and get me back on the road fairly quickly. The pricing is fair and you get good quality work. They show me exactly what my cars need and explain it in a way I am able to understand which I appreciate as I know very little about the mechanics of a car. It's important to note that their waiting area is a lot cleaner and more comfortable than other shops I've been to. Such Great Customer Service. The Shop is Welcoming. I came in and had little knowledge about what was wrong with my car, and the Manager took the time to explain to me what was wrong with it and i was able to Fix it at a very low Cost. Something you need to know as an owner of a vehicle is, not only putting gas and driving but get regular chek ups to mantain your car in good condition,this is one of the advises I got at this place.Oil change service does not include only the oil and filter like in other places but an inspection of any oil leak. With the alignment, you get suspension inspection, not sure what you need? Visit Walter or Ignacio for a general inspection and you will become a regular customer as I did!! read more

Walter and Ignacio are good people. This is the only repair shop I trust. I have been taking cars to them since I started driving at 16 years old, now 42, they still work on my cars. I take my sons car and my work trucks. They always let me know what repair cost will be and what options I have. They can do it all, which is great, I don't have to take my car anywhere else.
