We have been using Custom Maid for our home office cleaning for over 3 years and wouldn't consider another service. We have the same cleaning ladies come to our house to clean which is very nice because they know my home and I don't have to go through the do's and don'ts every time they come. They are so super nice and consistent. They've pretty much become part of our family. They are super pet friendly as well. We have a dog and a cat...they take the time to greet our dog; whom they've known since we adopted him, and he gets so excited to see his friends. Also, we have a cat that loves to follow them around and watch them as they work...they are super patient with him and pet him and think he's funny for making sure they do their job properly. They are extremely trustworthy and I feel confident with them. We love our Custom Maid Team. Also, the office staff is very communicative. If I need something or if I need to postpone a cleaning, they do it no questions asked (of course I do it in a timely manner). I would totally recommend Custom Maid for an affordable cleaning company. read more

WOW! I am completely blown away; house so clean I can eat off of the floor! By far, Custom Maids is the best cleaning service in Hampton Roads. Janet took the time and made special arrangements to stop by and give me an estimate. With the price she quoted, I had no choice but to say yes! I have used Custom Maid for 14 years. They do an amazing job! Each time they come the work is consistent. You can trust the people they hire, I've never had an issue. You see the same people which makes me feel good. If you have a pet, never fear! They love them like they were their own. When my dog was alive they brought treats for her and when she passed away they cried with me. This company is fantastically run, the employees are sharp and do an incredible job. I never write reviews, but I'm so displeased with the company, I have no choice but to help people from making the same mistake. During my walk through consultation I was told exactly what was going to be done in a regular cleaning, such as a dusting, vacuuming, windows were washed, in between blinds would be taken care of, bathrooms were thoroughly cleaned as well as the kitchen, and that there are services that aren't included in their basic plan that would be charged by the hour, like French door windows, ceiling fixtures, fans, lights, vents, exposed wood work, including the outside of cabinets, the inside and outside of oven/fridge and various other things. Personally I think those things should just be included in a regular cleaning, but I had no problem with paying hourly either. I asked for all the extra services I listed. My problem is that none of these things were done properly, everything was just wiped over. I could do much better myself, in less time. At first I thought, okay maybe this just isn't a good match and I need to explain myself and what services rendered weren't thorough enough. I called and the woman that answered did not want to rectify the situation at all, I explained that the person who did my consult told me it was more in depth then what the cleaners did, especially since I paid extra for extra services, they didn't even clean the windows at all, the blinds are still dusty and my cabinets are still sticky and she basically barked at me because I didn't read the piece of paper they gave me after the consult, (because all the services are on there.) I told her that, I'm sorry I thought I could trust what your employee had stated. Both me and my roommate were present when she did the walk through and we both expected it to be way more "clean" when they left. I'm now waiting to hear back from the person who did my walk through before I'm charged. This is not a reflection of their maids, the maids were nice and friendly, they are probably just cleaning the way they are trained. It was a very basic clean. I just don't appreciate the deception and the costumer service from the lady I spoke with on the phone. A good company should be more inclined to try to come up with a solution to please both parties, but I felt like she was trying to blame me for being fooled by their company. Terrible customer service and mediocre clean. I would never recommend using this company. They lack integrity and cannot be trusted alone. Just one example: I provided specific instructions not to wear shoes in my home and the cleaners AND the "quality control" inspectors would wear their shoes in my home when they thought I wasn't home. I caught them in my home with shoes multiple times when I arrived unannounced. When I complained, the management team was completely unapologetic about it. They also broke things. They were very nice to me on the first day they came to my house for a cleaning. I was pretty impressed. However, the second cleaning was not as good and I noticed that several of my shelves and decorative statues were still very dusty ( as in not dusted at all). The third visit I asked the girls cleaning the house if they could dust the shelves and statues because that was neglected at the last cleaning (if you aren't going to dust what am I paying for?) and I came back to about 75% of the dusting taken care of. The problem was that the most obvious places to dust were not dusted like the front entrance table and the large shelf in the living room. I was hesitant to continue with their services after that point but too lazy to find a new maid service. Our disposal just happen to stop working 3-4 days after the cleaning and I didn't think anything of it other than it broke due to unfortunate mechanical breakdowns. However, just recently the disposal was being fixed/replaced when we found out the problem was a wash rag was jammed inside! It was certainly not any of our dish rags and the only conclusion we can come up with is that it must be the rag they use to clean. We will not be using their service again and I am waiting for a response from the company regarding this issue. We were hoping for a less expensive repair but now the disposal must be replaced. read more

Retained this company for my very pregnant daughter. They did an inhome interview in which she discussed what she wanted done for the first "deep cleaning" and then a biweekly service following. They came promptly, however, when she got home that afternoon, she was amazed at what a poor job was done. There were cobwebs on the fans, blinds not dusted, floors left untouched, bathroom fixtures left dusty, just to name a few of the issues. She and I both called them, and they agreed to return on Monday to "finish" the job to her satisfaction. Still not done. And, she came home when they were there to show them what she actually meant. The supervisor was accommodating, but the workers were not. I called the service and spoke with Susan who agreed not to charge for the second "cleaning". However, I am still paying for a half-assed job that should have been done properly the first time. I cannot recommend this service at all. This home is a newly remodeled home with all new appliances, floors, windows, walls, etc. I am appalled that this is called a cleaning service. I read the review from Natasha K. - wish I had read it first. Don't waste your time or money with this company. read more
