My father, who lives in Algeria where cash is the only method of transaction, visited me in Canada for the first time in 24 years. I went to your location to convert euro to Canadian currency on his behalf, to help him manage his stay here. I fully understand that for transactions of $3,000 and above, customer identification and additional questions are required as per government regulations. I have a background in finance, having worked in banks, and I am currently a financial officer responsible for managing government loans and grants. I know these protocols well--and I also know they can and should be handled with professionalism and respect. Unfortunately, the service I received from Ronit was neither professional nor respectful. She was dismissive, unhelpful, and made an inappropriate remark: "You don't have to come to us," which is simply unacceptable. Her tone and demeanor made it clear that she had no interest in assisting me as a customer making a significant transaction. This was a deeply disappointing experience. As someone assisting a family member from a country with a very different financial system, I expected a basic level of understanding and courtesy. Instead, I was made to feel as though I was an inconvenience. It came across very clearly that she does not enjoy her job, and her demeanor made the entire interaction unpleasant. This is unacceptable from someone in a customer-facing role, especially in a financial setting where trust, clarity, and respect are crucial. I urge your company to address this internally and ensure your staff receive proper training in customer service, cultural sensitivity, and professionalism.
