Warning: long -- but that's because I'm passionate about modding cars, and if you're here, you should be, too. The short: TL;DR blah^3 ... Sean and his shop, Custom Functionz, rock and really know their stuff. I highly endorse them. The long: Custom Functionz. Wow, these guys are good. Great attitude, and know their stuff. You've probably seen their incredible talents on their hydrodipping and powdercoating, but they do more than that. Owned by Sean Pierce, his team really puts in the effort to make things right. I initially met Sean a car show (1st place Best KDM! :-) ). They had a display, and I was checking out their builds and really admiring them. Sean approached me, complimented my car, and saying he's seen it around. Even more surprising is he remembers my call from a year prior when I just asked questions. Wow! Anyway, I told him I think I have a leak in my air suspension setup, and that I have a few concerns, like some sounds coming from my coilovers. He invited me to his shop any time. Since I was out of the country, got quite busy when I returned, fast forward about 2 months later, and I finally stopped into his shop. (Had to tell the bossman I'm "working from home", and Sean let me use his wireless so I could connect to the office!) So call me queer, but I don't generally like going to shops, because a lot of them seem to think they're rappers, have their douchebag groupies hanging around, and I generally just don't feel comfortable. Not here; they were quite welcoming. My reason for going was for a leak. I can fix it, but I used that as an excuse to visit their shop to see if they could give me some ideas. As soon as I popped the trunk, Sean starts going on & on & on of what he can do to improve it, some ideas he can do, and more. ***THIS*** is what I wanted! I went there just for a quote, but hey, I'm connected to the office, and I'm all the way out there, so let's just do it. When my car is in the air, and he and his shop are inspecting my car, they find other things that could be polished up. They asked, and I concurred so they began working. Unfortunately, while they were working on my car, they found a couple more unexpected things so I agreed to fix those as well. Before I left, I heard the tiniest noise. I wasn't even going to mention it, but I know I would kick myself for not doing it later. Many shops would have been done, but no, he worked and worked and worked on it until that little sound was eliminated. He kept telling me how he won't let me leave until the job is 1.) safe and 2.) to 100% of my satisfaction. They went so far above and beyond my expectation. He knew I was coming, and he said he would squeeze me in. What we thought would be 1-2 hours turned into 7 (seven) hours. Their shop closes at 6:30, but my car wasn't finished until way past that. And he had to work on the other vehicles as well, so he left after 9PM. Unfortunately, part of the discovery they made is my bags were rubbing so I ordered some more they can replace them. The brackets that were holding them in place were rusted to something that you'd see on the sunken Titanic. When the parts came in, they sandblasted the brackets - and even the screws & other hardware (that attention to detail!!!) - and cerakoted everything to prevent rust. With tools, they milled down the part of the car where the bags were rubbing and then painted them so there's no exposed metal. Other things they did was redo my trunk setup like relocating the water trap to the specs that Air Lift recommend with their builds, redid the platform where everything sits by giving it a velvet "pillow" for everything to sit on, and then relocated cables while covering them in wire loom to give it a cleaner look. They did several more things to polish up the setup I had in there, so to me, I can see they genuinely know what they're doing. Custom Functionz. These guys rock. They're quite passionate about they do, friendly people, and professional. I just wish they were located a lot closer to me. Reading this, you're probably wondering why I did not let them to my initial install. Back then, there was no kit available for my car, and everything was 100% custom and made for my car, so I wanted someone with lots of experience. CF didn't have as much experience as much experience back then, but by now, I believe they have the most notches under their belt in the area, and what I really like about them is they don't just install cookie-cutter builds you normally see. Each & every build they do is 100% custom, and no 2 builds are alike. Because of this, companies like Air Lift Performance, what I have in my car, have now made them a licensed installer and distributor of their products. I wanted to be the "1st kid on the block" to have a bagged Optima. Now I wish I would have waited. read more

Sean did my powder coat on my tires and the tint! Turned out incredible. he also, put on badges on my car instead of the Kia badges. AND fixed my bumper after i hit a tire in the road. Incredible service. I would highly recommend him! read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would!! This is the worst shop I have ever been to. If you value your money and your time don't go to this shop! The owner Sean has no type of customer service, he tells you one thing and does the other! If you want to get good hydro dipping done I would highly recommend JLT. I brought my car to CF about 3 months ago to get my car lowered, my Orion led lights installed and my plastic engine bay parts hydro dipped. First it took almost a month for him to start working on my car, he said he could do it in a day so then after I brought the car to him he couldn't even finish the job. He told me the day prior to bring the car in at 7:30am, he didn't show up till almost 10:00am. (That should've be the first sign that this shop wasn't good) While working on my car he took a break every 20mins to stop and smoke a cigarette, or to talk on the phone with someone. It was almost midnight and he told me that he couldn't finish that day and if I could bring it back the following day so he could finish. I was so upset because I was there for over 16hrs and my car still wasn't done, but I said fine and I told him the I would see him the next day. Before he close his shop he gave me a sob story about that he couldn't make rent and that if I could pay him the full amount which was $2000 so he could pay his landlord in the morning. That should've been another red flag right there, but I felt sorry for him and I gave it to him anyway. The next day I called him to see what time was good for me to come over so he could finish the job, and he told me that he wasn't feeling well and that he wouldn't be opening the shop that day. He said he would call me when he got in. 2 weeks went by and no call! So when I called him, this sorry guy said that his wife wasn't feeling good and that he had to stay home with her to make sure that she was ok. Another 2 weeks went by and still no word from him, when I call him he didn't pick up his phone or replied to any of my text, I went by his shop and it was close!! He had all my parts in his shop along with all the money I gave him up front for the work!! Till this day I still don't have my parts and I had to re-buy all my parts that are in his store again and have another shop finish the crappy work he started!! It cost more to fix the sorry work he did than what I gave him upfront. It cost me over $3000 to fix all his work including the new parts I had to replace. It took me going to my bank to file fraud charges on him so I could at least get back the money I paid him upfront, but this SOB still has my parts in his store!! I highly advise anyone, don't go to this shop, he's a con artist, a thief and a liar!!! read more

I almost never write reviews for anything even if its bad service but i just could not let this one go. I went to custom functionz on 06/17/2015 to get a computer case that i had powder coated. based on reviews here is why i picked them, but that was the biggest mistake i could have done. they told me it would be two weeks for my case to get done i said fine. After the two weeks is when all the excuses, bad deadlines,ignoring your phone calls, not being there when you say your coming to get your item, and just terrible customer service started. This job has taken 6 month for them to do, I received my case 12/05/2015 and they gave to me completely wrong. i have pictured attached to see the kind of service you get from them. they even damaged my case in the process by having two of the brackets bent. i did not include a picture because they "fixed them" so they don't look bent but they are weak where they bent them back. I would never recommend them to anyone, I'm gonna assume that if you want to pay extra they will do your stuff right, but if you just pay them what they ask which was $250 for this they just don't care about your stuff and expect you to pay full price for complete garbage. never go to this place unless you want to get ripped off and not have your item for 6 or more months! read more

I got Custom Functionz to do a stretched tire install for a set of wheels I had. Top notch work without a single scratch. They really took their time to do the install, in which I appreciate a lot since the wheels I brought in were brand new. I've also had a little time to glance their shop cars as well as some powder coated stuff they had and all I can say is that, I know where to go for things such as. I have never had such a great experience when dealing with a shop like this. Employees and owner were all knowledgeable and professional. Quality is top notch and they will not release sub par products back to the customer. If they have to redo something they will let you know so you get the best outcome. Brought my Scion to get work done here, a while ago. Hydro Dipped A,B,C Pillars. Was very impressed with the quality of the paint and dip transfer. Turn around time was quick even though I didn't need them back all that soon, will def do business with them in the future I'm sure, and will recommend them to anyone that ask about custom work. Custom Functionz, were very expedient with my order, I dropped off my intake manifold and my valve cover to get hydro dipped, and amongst their busy schedule they managed to get the parts back to me within a week. Hate to say I was very unhappy with my experience with Sean (owner) and his shop, enough that I felt compelled to write this review. Think he means well and he may be pretty good at his craft (product was not "flawless" as described but good enough for me), but the business is so poorly run that it actually became a tremendous burden for me to be one of its customers. Nonexistent communication, excuse after excuse, delay after delay, incorrect color (picked by Sean, using the closest match he had in stock instead of the true match of what I wanted) that I had to pay extra to fix, and to top it all off, not a hint of apology from Sean and zero effort to rectify my dissatisfaction for having to wait months (yes, months) for my order (powdercoated wheels) and tolerate such awful customer service. I really did my best to be patient, give Sean the benefit of the doubt numerous times, and be flexible on availability of the final product, but I have nothing to show for it except, get this, Sean insisting I pay more than our previously agreed upon price when I picked up my order! I'll allow all of the above to be chalked up as Sean being in over his head and not yet knowledgeable of managing a small business, but that doesn't excuse him for what I had to tolerate. Probably goes without saying that I will not go back nor recommend this shop to others. The final product does not nearly justify the inconvenience of dealing with Custom Functionz. If you do choose to use this shop, you may want to be mindful that you will likely deal with some truly horrendous customer service and your order will not be ready in a timely manner (even if Sean commits to it). I do feel obligated to say that at the very end, Sean's wife came on board and she was very nice and helpful in (finally) completing my order, too bad she wasn't involved from the start, perhaps she can serve as a representative between Sean and his customers for the future. This shop does have some talented folks capable of good work, but too hard to ignore the business/operational incompetence. Hope they can figure things out quick and improve how the business is run, because it does have the potential to grow in the area. read more

Prices are good, powder coating skills are strong. They need to work on scheduling and communication a little but otherwise a good shop.

I took my fully custom built G37 and my 3 pcs wheels to Sean for install. They fitted my wheels perfectly when other shops told me it couldn't be done, he even came in on a holiday to ensure the job was done on time! The car looks great, runs safely, and clears perfectly! Went to Custom Functionz to get some coils, wheels, short shifter and bushings installed on my 15' STI . Sean was awesome. Grade A work. Not only did he make sure that his work was perfect, if there was something that couldn't be done by him, he pointed me in the right direction to people that he vouched for and proved they could do as great of a job as he could. The most important thing in any business is customer service, these guys are professional and treated me like a family. Second thing is the quality of work. I had my interior hydro dipped and my engine cover and the quality is awesome! I have been in many car shows and the work they do is incomparable and the price is the best anywhere. Bought my car to do suspension work because the last shop i took it too decided to pretend to know what they were doing and messed it up. Anyway any forms of communications was awful and was unable to reach them on the phone . I eventually drove to the shop to make a appointment and to address my concern, the owner told me a date and time to come back. I come back on the time and date he prescribed but he himself was 2 hours late. After getting there late the employees including the owner tried to convince me the whole suspension setup was crap and the whole thing needed to be replaced which i knew was complete bullshit. I knew at that point they were trying to get as much money out as me as possible. I ended up not taking it too them because another customer quickly advised me to not let them work on my car cause they had messed up his before and advised me a new shop. Overall bad communication and poor integrity and business practice. I felt like i bought my car to jiffy lube and they were trying to sell me bs services i didn't need or want. read more
