We had one of their patio pull threw spots and it was awesome.

Beautiful place. Very welcoming and helpful. The lady at the desk gave us some wonderful advice on where to go for a wonderful scenic drive.

This was the third KOA we stayed at during our trip. (This one had the best showers in my opinion.) It is located a couple of miles from Custer city which makes it easily accessible for food and what not. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in one of the cabins. They are so cute! It gets a little cold at night up here in the mountains, but luckily they provide you with a heater. The beds were comfortable, be aware you have to bring your own sheets. They offer a lot of fun activities for kids, which is a good and bad thing. (They were running around and shouting pretty late at night.) Great option for your travels, very affordable! Prices for cabins starting at about $70.

Thee Most Awful experience in my entire life !! We have a special set up for our van in which we sleep in and our tent connects to the rear for living room purposes . There were no instructions on how to park where to park or what to park on for tent/electric/water hook up site no one told us a Thing. We had just finished setting up camp about 5:30 pm pitched our tent prepped our site . Then this big fat Man on his golf cart said we had to park our van on the rock pad ( not really a rock pad more like grass growing up through rocks you couldn't really tell) so we parked sideways on the pad and set up camp again , welp that was wrong too they wanted us to face forward on the rock pad we tried to explain our set up and this man became angry did not want to listen was not going to give in any sort of way! He even said you people from CALIFORNIA are the worst( my husband is from Texas ) we were stunned at that assumption!!! He threatened to kick us out after we had already made a 2 day reservation ,he even threatened to get the owner, which we told him to get but never showed up... He was childish I think he was a little drunk could not stand up without weaving and was very belligerent for someone who is supposed to work with the public!! If you are from CALIFORNIA AVOID THIS PLACE!! NAZIS HAVE LANDED! CAMPING ON ROCKS SUCKS ASS !! .... STOCK PHOTO OF MY SET UP BUT MY VAN IS WAY BIGGER

This is our view from our camp site #44

Restrooms and roomy showers were clean. We had a 25' TT and site accommodated our tow vehicle. We had 2 sites a back in (3 nights) and pull thru (2 nights). Beautiful hiking trail behind campground. We had a fire ring and location is somewhat hilly so difficult for handicap to get around. All in all a great location and easy to find. Nice general store on site. Definitely have to get some homemade pie from the Purple Pie House, blueberry, apple and bumbleberry were delicious warmed ip with a scoop of Vanilla ice cream! The Claw Antler & Hide store had very unique and cool items bought antler whistles for the grandkids. Had the best buffalo burger at Black Hills Burger and Bun but go early its very popular! Crystal-clear water is surrounded by massive granite rock formations, towering pine trees, and some of the most picturesque landscapes you'll find anywhere in the region. One of our favorite parts was walking around the lake on the easy Shoreline Trail. The trail is well maintained and offers incredible views from every angle. We also enjoyed walking across the historic stone dam, which provides a fantastic vantage point for photos and a great perspective of the lake and surrounding rock formations. What makes Sylvan Lake special is that it's the perfect destination for almost everyone. Whether you enjoy hiking, photography, kayaking, swimming, rock scrambling, or simply relaxing in nature, there's something here for you. The area is clean, well cared for, and easy to access. The location is also an excellent starting point for hikers heading to Black Elk Peak, but even if you don't plan to do a longer hike, the lake itself is worth the visit. If you're exploring Custer State Park or driving the Needles Highway, don't miss Sylvan Lake. It's one of those rare places that looks even better in person than it does in photographs. Highly recommended! Check out our video on our socials @reessroots

This is an awesome campground within an incredible state park…read more We stayed two nights at Sylvan Lake Campground and were really impressed, especially by how clean everything was! I couldn't believe how spotless the bathrooms were every single time I went in, it was perfect. The electric sites are fairly close together, so if you're looking for more privacy, I'd recommend the walk-in sites. The unfortunate thing about the walk-in sites are the more secluded sites (like #16, #17, and #21) require a bit of an uphill trek. It's not a long walk, but it does take a little bit of effort to get everything up there. That said, Site #21 was one of the best campsites I've ever stayed in, it was worth the extra sweat. The only reason I'm giving this place four stars is because the trail to the walk-in sites is very rough. They do provide a wheelbarrow to help carry your stuff, but the terrain is so rocky that using it seemed like more trouble compared to just walking your stuff up. Overall we enjoyed our stay and everyone was so quiet, it really felt like it was just you in nature.
