The couple that runs the place keeps a notebook with all transactions hand written in it. You can get homemade deli sandwiches on the super soft white bread that sticks to the roof of your mouth when you take a bite. Nothing fancy but it's nice to get lunch for 2 for less than $10 anywhere these days. They serve breakfast as well but I haven't made it in to try that yet. They also sell fuel but you can't pay at the pump. I would find that annoying some places but it just makes sense here. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of places left like Shelton's.

I have passed by this old Convenient Food Mart store many times but finally made this stop after a recommendation by a close friend who is a big "foodie!" I knew a Meatloaf sandwich was going to be on the list so I went directly to the counter to pick one up, I also picked up a country ham sandwich and bottled water to eat in the front seat of my truck (there were no open seats available inside due to the local crowd occupying all the tables and seating), they were very busy. There was plenty of help, everybody was very helpful and friendly. The steam table had plenty of options for lunch or you can choose to have a deli sandwich made but the Meatloaf is piled high in a bun and it packs all the flavor you expect from a farmhouse kitchen table! I later learned that it's a Shell gas station IGA grocery store hybrid. It looks very unassuming from the outside, but it's almost bordering on a gourmet grocery (or gourmet for the area). I visited mostly for the restrooms, which they don't have many of (only two stalls), but it's fine. Walking around, they have aisles of groceries -- almost everything you could need. They also have a frozen section, a "beer cave," lots of snacks for the road, coffee and other stuff. There's also a chicken restaurant inside, with lots of tables to sit and eat there. The store was clean and very organized, and it was a pleasant experience to visit.
