So early last year I decided to make the jump from Planet Fitness to In-Shape Fitness in Natomas.I…read morewas ok with being a member at Planet Fitness but I reached a point where the amenities it was missing and that In-Shape offered were too much to ignore-so I made the switch and joined In-Shape. In-Shape is a pretty good gym-have many amenities, many classes,a lot of new equipment that I've seen them replace older machines with, this particular location is a multiple floor building and each floor has different areas for weights both free weights and machine weights.I would also say it never feels too overly crowded unless you get very unlucky and get there at the exact perfect moment. They have a dry sauna area and a steam sauna area-I heard but can't verify there is also a woman's only dry sauna in their locker room. There is also a full sized basketball court and racquet ball courts. They also have a rock climbing wall, they have multiple swimming pools, they have 2 massage chairs which are available for members to use. They have so many cardio machines-just about all types are available, from bikes to stair climbers to treadmills and others that I'm not so sure what they are called. All that being said, what I truly wanted to talk about was my favorite feature of this gym and that is the offerings of Pilates classes they have at this gym. They offer Pilates classes on Monday and Thursday evenings as well as 2 classes on Saturday mornings, which means a member could take up to 4 hours of Pilates a week if they were so inclined. This is part of your monthly membership-it's really great-not sure many other In-Shape locations offer so many Pilates classes at this time. On a personal note I would like to highlight one of the Pilates instructors Severine, she currently teaches the Monday and Thursday evening Pilates classes and let me just say she is wonderful. As a person who never took a Pilates class,I ended up signing up for her class after the encouragement of my wife who has taken her class for quite some time.I did so reluctantly thinking that as a 52 year old man, who doesn't know a thing about Pilates,it was going to be a horrifying experience. It was anything but,and that is all due to the wonderful instructor Severine. She went out of her way to make me,along with everyone else in the class feel so welcome, always offers lots of words of encouragement and plenty of tips to make the Pilates experience a better one.Her classes are always so fun,she generally goes out of her ways to make sure she knows the name of every single person who takes her class and always has a funny story to share with the class to make sure we dont get lost in the moment. She is the sole reason I have stuck to Pilates this long and the main reason I love being a member of this gym-she is a true asset to this location. In closing,if your in the market for a new gym experience I would without hesitation give this In-Shape location a shot-I feel you won't regret it.

I wanted to wait to post however I can update in the future…read more Staff is great here! I was a little let down when I asked about machines for glutes etc. Instead of walking me over to show me I was pointed in the direction and vaguely told about it. This was my fourth time in. However when I was signing up Kelsey was a 5-5 very knowledgeable and showed she loved working out and explained some machines that she really liked . The tan area is great very clean and nice 5-5 Red light- whole body 5-5 For tanning keep in mind that you may need to ask them to wait five minutes to turn it on. I did not have all my tanning lotion on by the time it started. I suggest starting out with lower minutes to see how you like it and make sure you're not claustrophobic On the whole body for me, I call it red light. I went shorter minutes, but it still felt a little bit long so I would suggest starting out at 4 to 5 minutes. So far I've been on the lounge massage chair and that was really really nice. I like that you can change the pressure higher and lower. I really like their app. I think it's amazing whoever came up with that idea. Did a great job. I really like that you can take different guest. It's really nice because if you don't have a family member or somebody that has the same exact schedule as you, you don't have to worry about working out by yourself. You can always change the person that you're going with if you have the black card Although I've had a hard time getting anybody to go with me because my schedule is so crazy it's very clean and welcoming inside The type of work I do makes you very scared to get any kind of germs. I do think they could have an extra cleaning station outside of the rooms to get for the machines, and I would like more areas for putting sanitizer on my hand. All in all, I love it so far I will check back in in a couple months and let you know how it's going

Finished an amazing work out!!…read more I love the new snack machine too it's super fun to use and very convenient

Summer 2026 Update!…read more Elite Member approaching my 500th (!) class soon. Hard to believe even with the pandemic shutdown, I've returned and stuck with this workout since my first classes in 2015 when Natomas first opened. Thanks to my former coworker for recommending Orangetheory to me after trying out her Elk Grove home studio, and I lucked out with past Natomas coaches Coach Lysandra, Coach Avery and Coach "Training Tall" Austin. Since my last review, Dharam is no longer the head coach, coach Milana is now at Carmichael studio, and now the head coach at Natomas is coach Conner. I regularly attend evening classes with Coach Dharam, Coach Rachelle, and Coach Thuy. Occasionally I'll take a class with Coach Josh or subs like Coach Amilia. The 3G classes are either HYROX-focused on Tuesday nights now, or downgraded to 2G sizes/format for Thursdays. Tread50s are also a later option for me, though the Strength50 classes tend to fill up. Instead of All Out Mayhem, this year they had Season of Strength. Next up for August is Marathon Month challenge, then the Fall Dri-Tri. Class check-ins are now on a tablet, treads and rowers both have the upgraded tablets, Y-bells replaced the medicine balls. There's even a brag bell for when you hit a PR!

I find the theory of Orangetheory fascinating. The goal is to spend at least 12 minutes in the…read moreorange zone, creating a metabolic afterburn that burns calories up to 36 hours. I'm not sure if it's true but it makes me more attuned on which color zone I'm in which I've never been before. It makes me challenge myself to keep my heartrate up or down depending on what zone I'm in. Upon checking in, you choose which station you want to start with-- trends or the floor. Trends seem to be booked up first so get early if that is your preference. Personally for me, I like to start on the floor since the weights is what I want to concentrate on so I want to have full energy for it. Running is my strongest point so I don't mind saving it for last and I'm able to go all out and exhaust myself if it's my last station. On the floor, there is a rack of weights. The weights vary between odd and even numbers. The main difference is that the odd has 15 lb and 25 lb dumbbells while the even has 12 lb and 20 lb dumbbells. I choose between odd and even based on how heavy or light I want to lift that day. It's a no judgement zone and the only one your competing against is yourself. The class is only as hard as you make it be and classes are designed to be flexible as everyone is different. They have their own heartrate monitor that you can purchase or rent for $10 a class. It's not mandatory but I do like seeing my stats. With the monitor, it records your mileage on the trend and distance on the rower. It also tracks your splat points which is fun. I have the OTconnect Beat and the light will change color based on your zones. The music and overall environment makes the workout fun. The staff and coaches are really friendly.

Trainers: Only 2 trainers available…read more Facility: Two-level facility. The AC works well throughout the gym, although the second floor feels noticeably cooler than the first floor. Classes: Group fitness classes are limited to 35 participants. The workout space has a large pillar in the middle that blocks visibility for some attendees. Parking: Plenty of parking available in the underground garage. Members receive 3 hours of complimentary parking at the Golden 1 complex, which is a great perk if you want to explore nearby businesses after your workout. Cleanliness: Workout areas are generally clean and well maintained. However, the restroom area tends to be messier. Amenities: The gym features a full-size basketball court, a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, and whirlpool. Recovery Room: This is a major advantage since the recovery room is currently only available at four locations. The add-on costs $9.99/month and includes: * 4 massage chairs (20-minute sessions) * 3 zero-gravity chairs * 2 Hyperice massage guns * Hyperice Normatec leg recovery boots The room is well air-conditioned and comfortable. The only downside is that it is located beneath the basketball courts, so the sound of bouncing basketballs can be quite loud and distracting at times. What I especially like is that there is no strict time limit on using the recovery room amenities. At another gym I visited, members had to reserve equipment in advance, and staff would activate each machine for a limited session. Once the timer expired, the massage chairs and recovery boots automatically stopped, requiring another reservation and staff activation. This location offers a much more flexible and user-friendly recovery experience.

Front desk receptionist are friendly and provide great service. My 24 hour membership was actually declined and i found out it was because my membership was changed from Nation wide access to just regional access. The receptionist was very understanding about this and let me in the gym still. Once inside, i do gotta say the layout of the gym is a little off. not a fan of the 1st floor and 2nd floor set up. But overall I had a good chest day. The top floor has enough bench presses and weights are very organized. People there are friendly and organized. It wasn't too busy at 6am and was able to do all my sets without waiting for machines. I was very impressed with the amount of squat racks they had. Lots of open spaces to stretch and do plyometric work. Lighting is good too as they have big windows overlooking 7th street and it's cross street. My experience here was really good.
