I'm leaving this review because members deserve to know about some very concerning and…read moreunprofessional behavior involving a staff member at NSFit. Melissa McLendon, who works as a massage therapist and personal trainer, has allegedly been carrying on an affair with a married member for months. She is reportedly friends with his wife, talks to her, interacts with their family, and has even held their baby -- all while allegedly seeing her husband behind her back. This reportedly hasn't been limited to outside of the gym. She has allegedly worked out with him, kissed him at the gym, and met with him around the side of the building. If this is happening while she is working or on the clock, that is completely inappropriate and unprofessional. And here is the part that I find especially disappointing: staff members have reportedly brought this situation to upper management, and management is aware of what has been going on. From what I have been told, the response was essentially to talk to Melissa McLendon about being more professional and to be more careful about what she was doing so she wouldn't get caught. If that is truly how this situation was handled, I find that incredibly disturbing. The concern should be about addressing inappropriate conduct and maintaining professional standards -- not simply making sure someone is more careful about getting caught. At that point, this is no longer just about someone's personal choices. It becomes a question of professionalism and how seriously management takes conduct happening between employees and members on or around the property. I also find it incredibly unprofessional of any staff members who are aware of this situation and continue to participate in, encourage, or turn a blind eye to it. People pay to come to NSFit expecting a professional environment. If management knows about conduct like this and the response is simply to tell the employee to be more careful, members have every right to question what standards are actually being upheld inside this facility.

DON'T DO IT. If you're reading this and trying to decide on a gym--Not this one. There are other…read moregyms in the area, including regular gyms and crossfit ones that are sure to treat you better and have better facilities. I'll start with the non-personal review first. -They're expensive. -They close incredibly early. -They will try to milk you on fees- You're not a person here, you're a cash cow. (despite the fact that this is not a huge box corporation gym) -Their equipment is outdated and there is not nearly enough of it. -No one shows up to run their fitness classes-every time I went at least. I am a Marine combat veteran trying to train and get myself back in shape as I'm applying for a few law enforcement jobs. It's not easy transitioning form the military to civilian life. Money is tight but I needed a gym to get back into shape and I was drawn to the fact that this gym was privately owned and operated. It's a small town community gym that would treat me like a friend/member of the community or so I thought. Not the case. My credit card was stolen, I received a new one on the 1st of the month. Fees are due on the 1st of the month. I called on the first and paid my dues- So I wasn't late in paying my dues..... TWO WEEKS later I was called and told I would have to pay a late fee of $40 bucks. Obviously I was upset. And as I mentioned money is tight. I told the lady (Cathy) who called everything I mentioned above about paying on time and my credit card...She didn't care. I was so upset I asked what the cancellation fees were and she literally LAUGHED at me before she told me. To sum it up, I paid my gym fees on time over the phone. But Because it was a new card they wanted me to pay a $40 late fee- two weeks after the fact. Would you pay this? Apparently if you're not with their program and question what they do, they kick you out. Two hours later Cathy gleefully called me and told me my membership had been cancelled and to find another gym. Is this the kind of community gym you want to go to? This is how they treat people, not to mention veterans trying to make ends meet. This might seem embellished but it's not at all- take it for what it's worth when you're deciding on a gym here in Oroville.

For me that's an instant turn off because every other club we've toured has given us at least a day free pass. The equipment is old for the prices they charge. The sauna doesn't work in the women's room. You feel like you're in a hospital with the pink plastic curtains over the showers. I really was unimpressed. Sadly, I may still end up joining because it is so much closer than my other options but they hardly deserve to call themselves a sports club. Oh yeah and get this: they don't even allow members to bring guests in EVER. They are tight asses but apparently in the trashy town of Oroville that is how a business must operate.

We went to the auditions and filled out the paperwork and even helped set up as we had arrived early. My kids auditioned. We came back the following Monday to find... They SAY it's free but then make you sign a paper promising to sell 10 tickets and 2 advertisements per child (valued at $150) and volunteer 10 hours. THEY DIDN'T MENTION THIS IN THE FLIER OR IN THE PAPERWORK FOR THE AUDITIONS OR AT ANY TIME DURING THE AUDITION OR AFTER - until the parents meeting. I have 2 children. We just moved here 1.5 years ago. We cannot sell 20 tickets and 4 business ads. Or pay $300. NOR do I want my children used in some kind of pyramid money making scheme for YMCA. If they wanted money they should have just said so up front. We left with both of my children in tears. You can scam adults. That just makes you bad people. But to HURT KIDS?!? How do you sleep?
