Sending our children to this school is the best decision & sacrifice that my wife and I have made…read more We have four kids and all of them have started there since TK and our eldest is now 21 years old with the youngest now in 1st. The school is administered by the Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angeles. We wanted a school that is strong in our Catholic faith and the academics are high, which this school meets and exceeds. The children are taught 1 or 2 grades above their current grade especially the 6th~8th grades. They learn things they will learn again when they enter into high school. Many graduating students get accepted to Catholic HS and other college accredited high schools in the area. They have invested in improving the technology of the school with use of iPads, Macs in the computer labs and large digital touch screens in each class room. Renovations have been made to the campus with a fully renovated restrooms and filtered water bottle dispensers. The security of the school has recently been upgraded with gating off the main entrance to the school, as well as the other side entrances to the back playground/parking lot. St. Philomena School is a small school & the friendships my kids developed are great because they grow up with each other with love and respect for each other. The parents become really close and it is like an extended family. Even new families that come in during the year, they are welcomed into this school family with open arms. I see and you will see on other reviews that are negative. I can comment to clarify things. In regards to bullying, the reviewers said that the school takes a blind eye, which is incorrect. Many of the bullying is by social media, which the school cannot control. They contact the platforms, but the platforms do not do anything and do not help the school to try to stop it. Bullying on campus, the school does try to remedy this with intervention with the students and parents, and if really bad, they get the LA county Sheriffs involved. I know of one child that was expelled for cyber-bullying and this kid was only in middle school at the time. In regards to reviewers complaining about the costs. Yes, there is a high tuition, but compared to other parochial schools in the area this school is much less expensive than those other schools. The school is not focused on taking your money. They have not dramatically increased the cost of sending your kid(s) there for the past 10 years. People complain about the tuition, well the school is not forcing them to attend the school, they can send their kids to public school. All in all this school is the best decision we've made and if you're looking to send your child(ren) to a parochial school, inquire with the school. They will be upfront with any questions you have.

I was met with great resistance and uncooperative service. Prior and current students are entitled to this information. The office manager named Ms Cordero is now dodging me and not returning calls. I asked for this document back in April, to no avail, no response. I now have to get a court order to obtain information needed for a judge. These ppl know how to collect tuition but will not help you when needed.

It ended up being one of the best decisions we could have made. At ECMSG, the Dean and his team did an incredible job holding my son accountable for his negative behavior while also recognizing and reinforcing his positive efforts. That balance truly helped him get back on track. Because the school is smaller, there is much more individual attention and staff really pay attention to the details. The supervision staff genuinely care about the students and build healthy, supportive relationships with them. On days when my son wasn't feeling his best, he could easily request a check-in with the counseling team, which made a huge difference. The office staff is always warm and welcoming. They consistently go above and beyond their job descriptions. The school also provides strong support for parents by clearly explaining the grading system and offering tutoring to help students stay on top of missing assignments. The Special Education department is patient, accommodating, and incredibly supportive. The Principal is highly involved not only with the students, but with the surrounding community as well. He builds meaningful relationships with the kids and truly listens to parents. He has an open-door policy and never makes you feel like your concerns aren't important, which was very different from our previous experience. Their outdoor education program is another highlight. The students learn hands-on skills and how to solve real-world problems in meaningful ways and we get invited to come hear the kids present on their learning. I am extremely pleased with our experience and highly recommend ECMSG to any family looking for a smaller, supportive school environment where students are truly seen and supported.

I especially appreciate how involved the principal is in everything happening on campus. What stands out the most to me is the strong support system and the clear communication the school provides to both students and parents. We are very grateful to be part of this community.

We were invited here for a basketball tournament, and there was plenty of parking on campus,…read morethanks! The bathrooms had a lot of fruit flies in it but I don't attend here so I guess that won't bother me in the future? The toilet paper was decent and there were enough bathrooms for the family during the visit. We stumbled upon the wildlife habitat and that was really awesome for the kids to see a real peacock up close! They had geese and ducks in little kiddie pools too.

CLASS OF 2000...millenium graduates...STAND UP! Carson High…read morewas a pretty damn cool school, but not the BEST. GREAT/FUNNY TEACHERS OF MY TIME: Mr. Lal, Mr. Leibner, Mr. Blankenship, Mr. Watkins, Mrs. Winnenger, Mrs. Derama, Mrs. Tuitasi, Mr. Neal, etc. I can't remember any more! hahaha! GREAT MEMORIES: -A lot of other Filipinos hated on me because I was the first MALE FILIPINO in Carson High to get with a BLACK GIRL out of REAL LOVE instead of SHOCK VALUE....NOWADAYS, it's quite normal to see a lot of MIXED COUPLES...BUT...to this day, you still don't see BLACK GIRLS with FILIPINO GUYS or VICE VERSA...it's funny, but true. -"Backyard Wrestling" at Carson High was awesome...me and my friends didn't follow the trends, instead...we made our own trend and got everyone to conform to us....we ended up in UPN, MTV and more! -Trendy-ass students chilled at the front showing off while the gangs fought each other. -WEED was the main drug of choice among teens back then....nowadays, I hear that it's stupid shit like METH and CRACK....wow. NEGATIVES: -Their restrooms SUCKED...did not have ANY DOORS, plus people would try to mess with you. -SOME (not all) teachers just sucked. -Ignorant Jocks and Gangs pretty much ran the schools along with the popular peoples....not all of them were assholes though. -My Filipino race were into their stupid rice rockets that their parents bought them...it was annoying....a lot of them (not all) were such narrow minded trend followers and that same thing went for all the other races that acted the same damn way. -Back then, SKATERS were NOT CRACK HEADS and SKATERS DID NOT WEAR GAY SKINNY JEANS LIKE TODAY...SKATERS back then were REAL SKATERS that had a REAL STATEMENT....THE SAME WAY HIP HOP and HEAVY METAL FANS has a REAL MOVEMENT after Kurt Cobain, J. Dilla, 2 Pac and Biggie died....unlike TODAY where most kids in Carson DRESS UP MOSTLY (not all) just to LOOK COOL. FINAL THOUGHTS: I loved and hated Carson High....but when it comes down to it, my experiences there made me what I am today....that was then, and I hope many of you grew up....much love to all Carson High Alumni!!!!!
