We hired them to put an additional bathroom in our home along with some modifications to our garage. Their estimates were right on the mark as far as costs and estimated time for completion. The workmanship and attention to detail was outstanding! They left the house clean and tidy after they worked on it. The bathroom looked like it had always been part of the house. We were converting a small space and went through several revisions of plans until we came up with the final one. Karl was very patient with us and offered useful suggestions on what he thought would work. He was also very selective in choosing quality subcontractors for the plumbing and electrical work. We had been burned by other builders in the past, so hiring West Branch was a breath of fresh air. We plan to hire them again for other projects and would not even consider having anyone else do the work. (Note - I am writing this review on my own, not because i was asked to do so. I believe that people who do outstanding work should be recognized.)

I had a very negative experience with Karl Rossi/West Branch Builders recently. He has done some…read morework for me over the past years, on a rental property I owned. Two years ago I needed work on the chimney because squirrels were getting in. He subcontracted the work out to a mason, and Karl reported that new liners were put in and all was taken care of. This spring, two years later, I put the house on the market. A housing inspection uncovered that the chimney had been completely capped, making the fireplace unusable. I was shocked, and contacted Karl, who contacted the mason he had hired. The mason, at the time of doing the work, had not informed Karl nor me, (only the tenant at the time, which is completely unacceptable). Karl apologized to me and said I, and he, should have been informed. However, he was not willing to take any financial responsibility for the work, which he was ultimately responsible for. In fact, when I asked how much it would cost to make the fireplace usable again, Karl gave me an estimate which included the mason's estimate plus his own 10% markup! Ultimately, the realtor made some arrangements with Karl, but reported that he was very rude at times with her. I am very disappointed, and would not hire West Branch Builders/Karl Rossi again.

The previous contractor had done a very poor job, partly because I was out of state for medical reasons. I fired him and then had a difficult time finding a reliable contractor. Ricky Sprague, the owner of Generations Custom Homes, was so moved by my story and angry that an elderly widow had been taken advantage of, that he promised to take on the work, despite having a full workload and worked with me to keep costs as low as possible, given how large the job was. His crew arrived when promised and worked diligently and expertly to repair-- and in two cases to completely rebuild--the decks, so that the work could be mostly complete before I had to leave. Ricky kept me informed of issues that arose, particularly those that would increase the workload and the costs and offered solutions that were elegant and worked with my constrained budget. He and his crew completed the work in little over two months, cleaned up the site, and got it inspected. I am so deeply grateful not simply for the quality of the work but also the respect with which I was treated, and the way Ricky made sure the project came in on time and within budget. I cannot recommend the company highly enough. If possible, I would give them more than 5 stars!
