Alex never ordered or delivered the material nearly a year later, started some work but finished nothing. As soon as we started to question why the roofing material was not delivered to the location, Alex left the project and a week later stopped responding to our calls, emails and later letters. He walked away with approximately $15,000.00 of our money. There is a lot more to this story but I am keeping it short and trying to warn people to stay away.

Approximately 2 years ago they "repaired and shingled" my roof. The first crew quit part way…read morethrough. I called and was told they were looking for another crew. Waited about 2 weeks and rain was coming...called for help. They came and put a plastic sheet up, but it ripped in the storm. Still no answer when someone would continue and finish the job. Finally, a crew did come out and finish. I do not climb up on my roof and "assumed" all was done properly. I continued to have leaks and water stains in my ceilings. Thinking it may be plumbing, I researched that and found no blatant causes. Called the company to come and inspect the roof, and learned the company had been sold soon after my job had been done. Since then I have tried several times to reach them and get no answer and no responses. I went out on my own to find someone who could go up and check the roof and they took photos of the poor workmanship. I was appalled! Nail heads were clearly visible, shingles not aligned correctly, sloppy "patch" goo was everywhere, damage to siding, and didn't seal around the dormers. I don't think that warrants a $17,500.00 bill! Perhaps a lawyer can advise me from here.

Just recently, my first tenant since the fiasco moved in to the place. And I am damn lucky that he's one of my best friends who has a knack for carpentry, because otherwise I'd be in a pretty awkward position. Apparently Sinclair's crew didn't do as great a job as I was led to believe. I personally haven't been to the house since the work was done by the way, so I haven't been able to see it for myself -- that's how I'm just now finding this out almost 2 years later. A couple examples: Apparently the new flooring they laid down was done well, except for the fact that they didn't cut holes in the boards for the heating duct vents!! WTF. My tenant couldn't figure out why heat wasn't coming into the living room when the furnace was on -- well bingo, the air couldn't get through. And the paint in the master bathroom was only half done. It looks like someone got started with it and just forgot to finish. There were a couple other things too. Whatever, the bottom line is that when you pay out the ass for a job to be done, you expect that job to actually BE done. The fact that the person paying for the work lives 4000 miles away shouldn't be an excuse to do things half-assed.

The previous contractor had done a very poor job, partly because I was out of state for medical reasons. I fired him and then had a difficult time finding a reliable contractor. Ricky Sprague, the owner of Generations Custom Homes, was so moved by my story and angry that an elderly widow had been taken advantage of, that he promised to take on the work, despite having a full workload and worked with me to keep costs as low as possible, given how large the job was. His crew arrived when promised and worked diligently and expertly to repair-- and in two cases to completely rebuild--the decks, so that the work could be mostly complete before I had to leave. Ricky kept me informed of issues that arose, particularly those that would increase the workload and the costs and offered solutions that were elegant and worked with my constrained budget. He and his crew completed the work in little over two months, cleaned up the site, and got it inspected. I am so deeply grateful not simply for the quality of the work but also the respect with which I was treated, and the way Ricky made sure the project came in on time and within budget. I signed three contracts with him and put half the amount down, a little over $18k. I know now never to put money down on a contract until it's finished but I am new to this and did not know. I had a very scary medical event (I'm a single woman) that caused me to go into the hospital for 14 days. Someone drugged my well without my knowledge, and hacked into my network and got into many of my accounts almost wiping me out. I almost lost my life. All my animals suffered along with me as well. My dog went blind right after and has had kidney issues since. He walked away from the job after and has not been back since. He took advantage of my situation and slandered me to other people tarnishing my name. So now I still have a front door I cannot close and lock and a house still in desperate repair with three projects started and just sitting there and I cannot afford to hire anyone else to finish what he started. It's been more than a year since he walked away. He said he was coming back at one point but then ghosted me after. I guess I'm out a whole lot of money now, and stuck with a house still in need.
