I bought some ready-made drapery panels at Pottery Barn Kids for our upcoming arrival's new…read morenursery. One window in the nursery has a sloped/eaved portion of the ceiling such that the panels for that window needed to be shortened. Unfortunately the pattern of the drapes made it impossible to just hem the bottom of the panels; they needed to be shortened from the top. The seams at the top attaching the fabric to the lining needed to the be cut and then the loops at the top all had to be moved down. I took the panels in to Barrera's Draperies and Lucy took a look, saw what needed to be done and said she could do it for $39.00, which I felt was extremely reasonable. I took the drapes in on a Monday and Lucy said she'd call when they were ready. By the following Monday I hadn't heard anything yet so I tried calling to just check and see what the status was but no one answered the phone. I tried one more time that day and then also called the next morning as well and no one ever answers the phone, which was quite annoying. Luckily I live close by and don't work right now so I just stopped by there on that Tuesday afternoon and Lucy said she'd have them done by lunchtime the next day. I went to pick them up the next day and they were ready as promised, folded and bagged neatly. She sent the fabric that had been removed in a separate little Ziploc bag which I thought was nice. My husband just hung the drapes and they look great. We are very happy with Lucy's work on this small project and would definitely use her in the future for any larger projects. In fact I wish I had known about her when I had custom draperies done for our master bedroom a couple of years ago since I wasn't completely happy with the design process or final product from the company I used for that project (D&D Drapery). The only reason I'm giving Barrera's Draperies 4 stars instead of 5 stars is that they don't answer their phone. Otherwise, A+

They don't look down at me as I couldn't afford to buy those fancy light fixtures displayed in the front of the store. However, I found a few affordable products that I would like to outfit my house with. The saleswoman introduced herself as Yare as she showed me the product sales specs sheet on the Alcamo LED Chandelier (model 12285.02). That was a gorgeous light fixture with 8 integrated LED to stretch to 180 inches in length and can be curled to 75.5 inches height by 55 inches wide shaped as a dome. I would need a mansion to display this light. I was intrigued with the technology on how LED can illuminate in the form of a rope. I really thought that was fiber optic. Speaking of lights through a tube, I found an LED Bath Light by Modern Forms with the light tube on both sides of fixture. This light fixture with a cinema feel could jazz up my bathroom. If I add this to my bathroom, I would need to remodel the entire house. I'll keep that in mind on my next house. Yare gave me her business card and invited me to check on their website for additional lights that are not shown in the store. So, I browsed through LuminousTrends.com and found a couple of lamps as an addition to my existing lighting. I emailed her my question and she responded very quickly. Shopping at Luminous Trends is convenient. I can shop in person and online at ease.

This is a pretty amazing lighting store located in Sugarland, offering pretty spectacular products of all sorts. So it's very shiny and glitzy and gorgeous and definitely well worth the trip, especially if you happen to be in the plaza already. I like it here and I've been here on a number of occasions now. They're right next to one of our favorite Indian restaurants so we often end up browsing here afterwards. Their selection is amazing even though prices are a little high.

We located them at another store but decided to ask JoAnn. She said she could give us a better price. The shades might be a bit darker. They arrived and they were not the right size. Since it was her error she said she'd send another set. The three she sent were not even close to the same material, a much cheaper shade that I could have purchased for a fraction of the price online. I would never use her again. It's a shame that she does business like this.
