CurryGate is excellent. The food is top notch, the portions are huge, and the service is with a huge smile. I've only had the opportunity to order from them during the pandemic, so I cannot speak much to the atmosphere. (They are currently operating as take-away only.) However, the spot is cozy and I am sure will be a lovely place for a causal meal with family or friends when the world reopens again. This is my FAVORITE Indian. Been eating it regularly since the pandemic. I eat it like 2-3 times per week. BUT... 3 stars instead of 5 because I'm getting REALLY annoyed about the PRICE increases. Samosas used to be $5 for two... now they are $9 on Uber eats and DoorDash. CTM is now $21 on the apps, it keeps going up. We are noticing!!! Same food. Same quantity. Not just "inflation"... inflation doesn't nearly double the price in 4-5 years. Owner's getting greedy. It is making me more order less often, as I don't think the pricing is fair anymore. We know they do a great business... but the greed is pissing off loyal customers who have been ordering for YEARS. And I am not the only one who has noticed! Please reduce your prices a few dollars if you want to keep the loyal customers who built you. read more

Absolutely amazing Indian and Napali food. We've only ever gotten takeout from here but everything is so good. They offer spice level up to 10 (which we always get). I usually have homemade raita to use with it. The goat does have bones so we don't get that anymore but that's fairly standard for Indian restaurants. Highly recommended. read more

Oh man, I'm so glad I stumbled on this place. I was scrolling through one of the delivery apps on a Sunday night looking for something tasty, and Curry Gate popped up. The menu has a wide variety of options, all reasonably priced. We ordered several dishes to try (and eat for a couple of days). On the delivery app, it didn't ask for spice level - so everything came pretty mild (which is how I prefer it, but certainly you could make a note for spicier options). Momo - Nepali steamed dumplings with chicken and a slightly spicy dipping sauce. These were quite flavorful and substantial. I think there were 8 in the order. Nepali-style Curry with veg - Nice variety of veggies in a reddish curry. Palak Paneer - I get this dish at every Indian restaurant --- it didn't disappoint. Super-creamy with plenty of paneer. Chicken Korma - Wonderful flavor, also very creamy. Garlic Naan - Good, but nothing overly special. Overall, I am so thrilled to have Curry Gate as a new Indian option! I would order everything I tried on this list - though, there's plenty more that I'm going to try. Give it a shot - I certainly will be ordering again soon. read more

This use to be my go-to. I'll start looking elsewhere. Quality and flavor have gone down in the last few months, and prices have gone up. I just paid $18 for a vegetarian curry!! Curries are missing the aromatics. They can make it spicy, but what's spice without the flavor? Momos and biryani are excellent! Naan is very thin. Orders take twice as long as predicted on UberEats. Don't blame Uber, I typically go through 2-3 drivers waiting on the food and have to call the restaurant myself to see what's going on. This has happened to me at least 2 times here. Definitely a takeout place, no frills, just good food. Somme of the best Indian Punjabi food that I have had in the city, and very reasonable prices. And they do not mess around when it comes to spice levels! I eat rather spicy food, and I prefer a level 5/10 or 6/10 depending on what I'm ordering. I stopped here this past weekend (it just opened across from Camp North End) and I was not disappointed! I ordered online and after placing my order I got a call to confirm my spice level. Their spice levels are from 1-10 and we opted for a 3/4 just as a precaution as some Indian food can be extremely spicy. My favorite was the korma because I'm a sucker for coconut curry sauce. However If you're new to Indian food, you should try the butter chicken as it's a good entry level dish (creamy/savory). The chicken was super tender - plus you can easily split one order between two people. Also all mains come with rice, but definitely add a side of garlic nann for dipping!! I was referred by a friend to try this place and I must say I was not disappointed at all. I drove from Pineville just to try this out, which was a 30 minute drive. I ordered the Makhani butter chicken that was my first time trying and I must say the flavor was amazing. I also tried the Chicken Tikka Marsala with Garlic Naan. Everything was fresh and seasoned very well. I tried spice level 5 and it was very spicy. I would suggest to get the spice on the side. It's a very small establishment located off graham street. The entrees run around 18.00 per entree, it was worth it though. I normally go to Bombays grill in Pineville but this place I feel is a better choice of Indian food, I will be back. read more

Very friendly staff with good service skills. I had a ton of questions about the menu and dishes which were answered patiently. I love the location of this place. It's on my way home from work and I can see myself stopping here once a week to grab something to go. The place used to be a Chinese restaurant from appearances. The inside is quite run-down looking so not a "date night" location. There's a few booths and tables inside with red curtains covering the windows. This is definately a hole in the wall type of place. I like the fact that it is basically a selection of 2 cuisines in one restaurant - Napali and Indian. They offer to make your order whatever heat level you feel comfortable with 1-10. I spent 3 weeks in India and ordered a level 6 and it was the top of my heat tolerance, so use caution. The cashier was very friendly and helpful. There's a few overhead photos in the restaurant but the to go menu is extremely helpful in the fact that there are photos of each dish beside a brief description. Most entrees are $12-17. For each dish, there are multiple options of add-ons such as paneer (cheese), vegetable, chicken, goat, lamb, gobi (fried califlower) etc. I got a refreshing mango lassi. If you have never had one, you must ! It's like drinking melted mango ice cream. I started with a Nepali soup called Thukpa with chicken. It was ok. It had fried scrambled egg in it that I wasn't expecting since it wasn't mentioned in the brief description. I guess I was expecting more of a pho taste, and this was much different. Always willing to try something new though ! The 2nd item I got was one of my old standbys. Gobi 65. It was very tasty. The gobi (fried califlower) was a bit spongy in texture as opposed to crispy. It was as if it had sat in the sauce for quite some time so that all the crispness was gone. The flavor was good though and I looked forward to the leftovers the next day. All orders, even if you eat inside, are served in to go containers. I noticed they did use glasses for wine at the tables though. How many places here have a perfect rating? The chili chicken fried momos here are straight Flavortown. This is one of the best take out joints in the city across the board. Be weary of the heat grading scale here even if you love spicy. Anything above 4 on their scale of 1-10 can be brutal, depending who's working. The food here travels great for take out. Just realized that we've passed this joint many times and did realize this place was "trendy"? So here we go, I ordered the Chana Masala and my wife ordered the Curry Chicken. My wife request a spice level of 2 and she still complained of the heat. I requested a heat level of 6 and was pretty satisfied. So delicious!! We got two chicken tikka masalas with garlic naan. Spice levels 3/10 and 5/10. In our opinions, 3 was mild and 5 was very spicy. Exactly what we wanted. My husband who loves spicy food said next time he'd go down to a 4. The customer service was wonderful. The man running the orders was the same man who brought us our food. This was our first time trying Nepalese food and we were super excited by the reviews. The food did not disappoint! Unbelievable combinations of curries and spices. They scored a 90 on their health department inspection, which is pretty good. Unfortunately, the ambience leaves much to be desired. The building is older and one of the bathrooms is out of service. One customer walked in behind us wearing very bulky clothing and proceeded to take out four packages of raw ground beef from his pants. The staff were not able to intervene about this behavior so we decided to get our order to go. So in summary, we would definitely get takeout from here if we were staying in Charlotte, but this is not the place for a dine-in experience. read more

Don't let the location fool you. Most all of my Indian/Pakistani dining experience has come from eating in the ethnic neighborhood in Chicago. I really was excited to try this place based on the other ratings. Food was quite good, maybe a little too spicy for my palate. I am totally ok with that vs bland food. They had vegetarian and meat based dishes as well as staples such as naan. Portions are large enough to get more than ones meal if dining alone. I would not recommend planning to dine in as there were limited in seating. While I was waiting for my food there was constantly stream of carryouts going. So you know the place must be popular.
