Sooooooo good!! I had the red chicken curry, curried peas n potatoes, salad, rice & bread. Couldn't even begin to say which item I enjoyed the most. It was so freaking good! Cant wait to go back n try more menu items. Check them out on 'Too Good To Go', to get delicious food for cheap.

Very clean and well kept! Service was pretty good, looked to be only one guy covering the place but there wasn't many others ordering. Mostly people eating the buffet. I got chicken Tikka masala with garlic naan and it was very good. It came out very hot so it took a while before I could actually eat, but that was the only issue. The naan was a bit flat and lacking the fluff I desired, but over all I will come back to try more dishes!

We tried the buffet this time around. They had 4 different curries - lamb curry, chicken curry, chicken korma, and a tofu curry. There was also a chicken tandoori. We got garlic naan which is an extra $1, regular naan is inclusive with the buffet price. It was good to try, but curry and naan can make you full. I ate 2 plates, definitely got my moneys worth. I learned that I really like their lamb curry, normally I get the lamb vindaloo but lamb curry is just as good!

Been on a bit of an Indian buffet kick lately, and this spot was just okay. I'd call it mid overall. The curries tasted a little watered down--not bad, just not super flavorful. I did appreciate that they had a salad. Price is $16.99 per person, and they charge an extra $1 for garlic naan (which feels a little unnecessary at a buffet). The place is clean, and the staff were friendly enough. It'll do in a pinch if you're in San Marcos and want a decent variety of Indian food, but probably not somewhere I'd go out of my way to return to.

Food was really good, but the keema samosa was wayy too salty I could eat it. I got the vegetable korma which was great, but mild was not quite as flavorful and I think I'd get mild+ next time. The lamb tikka masala (mild+) was also really good and again could probably go up a little on the spice level next time. The garlic naan was really good, though they make it pretty thin, but you get four slices. I ordered a side of rice and got two huge containers! Overall it was really good for takeout and a great amount of food for the price. The staff was attentive and the order was ready in a timely manner.

Are the vegetarian dishes cooked in the same dishes (pans, etc) that the non-vegetarian dishes are cooked in? Or is it separate to prevent any contact with meat (oils and fats included)? Thank you!

We have all the veg and non-veg dishes cooked in different pans! Just make sure to tell our staff when ordering to make extra sure there’s no cross contamination!

    What's offered in the buffet?

Seems like the buffet changes frequently but they always have over 10 different dishes to chose from. Can't go wrong. I never had the buffet, always each from the menu but it's always busy when I go there which is once a week.

Menu says "house wine" $10, or $6 at happy hour, but it doesn't list what the wine options are. I was trying to get a beer at happy hour prices, and they ran out and needed a new keg. No biggie except I didn't need a beer that much and my friends were waiting. I looked at the open wines at the bar, Estancia and J. Lohr. So I said, ok, I don't need to wait for a new keg, I'll just take the J. Lohr. It was going to be $14, because "it's not the happy hour wine." I don't know how anyone would no, cuz there's no wine list at the bar! Luckily they were nice and priced it at the $6 "this once." But it would be helpful if they listed what wines they have and had it either on the menu, or on the happy hour list ("not premium wines" or something). Anyway, I had fun. Food was decent. It's good that this place is still in Restaurant Row - so much of it is gone!

He gave us just enough time to think about what we wanted and came back. We went with the house margaritas ($6), a few beers ($6), two large beef tacos ($8) and nachos with carnitas ($8). I was impressed with how stuffed the crunchy tacos were and how flavorful the carnitas were in the nachos. The meal was plenty to share with one person. Our waiter great throughout the whole meal so I really appreciated it. For a nice, weekday happy hour with good food, good drinks and good service, this is the place.

The place smells decent, decently easy to find so no issues there. Cleanliness: the Buffett definitely needs some upgrading and cleaning. The rug smells and feels sticky to walk on, the counter area was clean but the ice cream section needed a deep clean, the cones were out of the packing and stale. The sprinkles were covered in ice cream and all over the place. The machine was covered in dried ice cream and caked on. I did not go into the restrooms, so I am not sure Food: cold. Everything except for the hibachi I got was cold. Shrimp, pork, chicken, all cold. They have an okay variety of deserts but other than the coffee and orange ones they were pretty bad. The flavor of the food was good, but the temperature of it was what really grossed me out and worry about food poisoning. It was during dinner at around 4pm so crab legs were included. My daughter devoured them and so did I. Best part of the buffet. Customer service: the waiters were very nice and kept our table clear. As soon as they notice we had our empty plates they would come around and grab them. I did notice and maybe it was just for that moment but we did get different waiters just grabbing our plates. Maybe they are doing a system where everyone waits on every table. Whatever they were doing it worked! We did mention at the end that our food was cold after we had paid and all because we were asked how we liked it. She did apologize and told us we should have brought up sooner so they could warm it up. That since it was slow the food gets cold. It was nice she apologized and all, but working in the food industry myself it is not any of the customers job to remind you to keep an eye on food temps. And you're supposed to keep food hot. Regardless they were nice. Would I come back? No. Would I recommend it? No. $60 for two adults $9 for my 4 yr old and $5 for my two yr old. So basically $80 for a family of 4 for cold food. Flavor was good though. So if you want to try it maybe you're lucky and get hot foods

We ordered two dishes: vg korma no spicy and chicken choila spicy level 4, which was recommended by their server. This place has good amounts of vegetarians options. My partner opted for vegetable korma, which is slightly sweet but the food is flavorful for us. I am not a vegetarian but I definitely like this dish. Chicken choila is so powering, flavorful, and tasty. I am not a fan of chicken breast but the chef did an amazing job on keeping the meat juicy not dry. It has a lot species and ginger in this dish. The chef I believe came out from the kitchen talking to us at the end. He explained this dish is a modified. The original from Nepel is fire roasted buffalo meat (If I dont remember wrong) and is very spicy. I really appreciate he explained it. The portion is very generous. I ate half of the dish and kept another half for the next meal. The brown rice! Oh my...the rice is not soggy and it's legit not boxed frozen rice to me. I had been to other asian restaurants that the rice wasn't cooked good or its frozen rice. I recommend to give a try :) I am a newbie of Indian/ Himalayan food.

That was [insert ridiculously large number here] years ago. There used to be Shakey's locations everywhere. If you played sports as a kid way back when, your team went to Shakey's to celebrate a win. Or you drowned your sorrows in pitchers of Coke or Root Beer after a loss. The location in Escondido is massive. The main dining room is humongous and they even have a nice video game room. The pizza is about on par with Pizza Hut quality and that's fine with most people, especially if you have young kids. And, of course, what visit to Shakey's is complete without some Mojo Potatoes? Basically, they are well-seasoned thick potato slices. I like them and there's also some added nostalgic value there. On the negative side, our food took forever to make which was a bit of a drag. Also, there were multiple uncleaned tables on a Saturday night that remained uncleaned during our entire visit. My guess is the restaurant was short-staffed (both front and back of house) which doesn't make a lot of sense on a busy Saturday night. They've got beer and a salad bar (now that's a real unicorn these days) and you can even get anchovies on your pizza (save your hate, they're good). They also have TVs everywhere so if there is sports being played somewhere, this is the place to watch it. I probably wouldn't return for the pizza and certainly not for the dirty tables. The Mojos are solid and if you have young children, are looking to catch a game, or if you want some decent nostalgia, it's worth a visit. Bonus points if you come dressed in your old Little League uniform.

The schwarma is seasoned very well, and not chewy. The rice is also very good, and flavorful. The hummus is one of my favorites, although this time it was a little thicker than usual. I love the dressing they use on the salad, I could eat a whole bowl of the stuff. The salad had a lot of cucumber, cut in big chunks, which is how i like it. The bread is enough for 2 people at least, so i would keep that in mind. 2 of us shared it and we still had some left over that we couldn't finish.
