The bathroom is small but adequate and cleaner than most chain hotels and the beds are comfortable. There is a gift shop/flower shop type across the street as well as a convenience store and a few other places within walking distance. This is an older motel so if you are looking for new or upscale, this isn't it. It is off the highway so quiet and convenient to grocery store.

Staying in the room is a little like going back in time and that experience was coupled with some technical snafus. When we got inside, the smoke detector was beeping every minute because of either a dead battery or connection issues. After walking downstairs to the office and letting the night guy know, he didn't seem very knowledgeable about how the system worked. He wasn't sure if he could disconnect the detector after seeing that the battery compartment wouldn't stay closed new battery or not and had to go call his boss at 11 at night. It was okay to disconnnect so I did and the thing continued to beep so I took down and gave it to the night guy. That coupled with an older tube tv with some channels that weren't working properly and this place isn't high on my revisit list. It is the best of the three in Doniphan but it might be better to stay in nearby Poplar Bluff.

Smoking rooms and non-smoking rooms share the same floor and are mixed together, with smoking rooms on one side of the hallway and non-smoking rooms on the other side of the hallway. All of the corridors stink to high heaven of stale cigarette smoke. The simple solution was for me to open the hallway windows because the weather outside was very nice. This eliminated the smell infiltrating our non-smoking room, but unfortunately the housekeepers closed all of the windows every time they made their rounds. Front desk staff was friendly, but out of touch with what "central reservations" does and why. I was promised a $40 discount on my weekend stay by "central reservations," but the front desk knew nothing about it. On the up side, this hotel is conveniently located and the parking lot is well lit. WiFi is free, but almost uselessly slow. If this place were renovated, it would be worth the money that they're charging or even a little bit more. When you guys finally renovate, please consider better air circulation for smoke removal in your smoking rooms... as it is now, everything gets sucked into the hallways. For my money, I'll stay at a Microtel.
