The food is great but the service is always slow. I think it's mainly kids running the restaurant.

Had a Rueben sandwich. Half the sandwich had very little sauerkraut on it. It did have melted Swiss cheese but there was no sauce on the sandwich at all. The sandwich was dry. The other half of the sandwich had all the sauerkraut. Clearly made by somebody that don't really care about the quality of the food they are serving. This was one of the worst Reuben sandwiches I have ever had in my entire life. I will not order that again from curly cone. That was $10 wasted. read more

This review is for the ice cream only. We went while on vacation back to back nights and the ice cream is great. The service was great as well. I would have provided 5 stars, however I take COVID very seriously and I observed a lot of the employees not wearing masks properly, some not wearing one at all, and overall not enforcing the Executive Order as I observed multiple instances of customers inside without masks. Regarding the food, we had dinner there one night and regretted it. Not only were multiple orders messed up ( which they patiently corrected), but the overall food quality is very low. read more

Horrible service because they're severely understaffed or just don't schedule enough people. Servers seem like they have not been sufficiently trained. Many of the breakfast items have a canned taste. I've not experienced their dinner items but I'm just going to assume its the same lazy cuisine as the breakfast. Made lots of eye contact with employees who never came to take our order. Great service, professional and attentive staff, and fantastic prices. The menu is straightforward and perfect for families. Nothing overly fancy or pretentious. Gun Lakes Hidden Gem !!! The Curley Cone has it all, literally... The menu is 2 full pages of food and they have tons of specialty coffee drinks and sweet and tasty treats! If you were a fan of The Bib, then you must stop in... they have THE FAMOUS BIB SALAD! And it is just as amazing as I remembered. We will be regulars from now on. Curly Cone has transformed itself into more than just an ice cream place with mediocre hamburgers and hot dogs -- its previous niche when it was located on the corner in the old CurlyCone pavilion. It still has all the same ice cream stuff, but the food offerings are now very good. The burgers are no longer mediocre. They now have many other hot and cold offerings, and not just sandwiches. They have very good gyros -- not the best I've ever had, but definitely nothing to be ashamed of. There are meals available -- in the $10-$12 price range. These are very high quality offerings. I would say they are a bargain. There is also the bakery section which has a nice selection. There are plenty of tables indoors, and there are some outdoors as well. But, the outdoor tables are located in the hot sun -- there is absolutely no shade. Suggestion: plant trees and install umbrellas. There are pickleball courts being installed. I don't know if these are free and open to the community, or not. We'll have to wait and see, I guess. One negative: as per the compliant of a previous reviewer, the posted prices may not be correct. I wanted to get a special waffle cone, based upon the price marked in front of the display. When I ordered it, the cashier questioned whether I really wanted to spend $4 on the cone itself. I was totally confused, since the price marked was $2.50 -- so, I said NO. But, this is not a good practice, Curly Cone owner. Keep your prices up to date! Most of these reviews come from before ownership changed. In the last year, I've seen Curley Cone grow from a dying business into a fully fledged community icon. Anyone from Gun Lake comes to Curley Cone, and the new management has found their niche in celebrating the Gun Lake community. The food has improved, the staff has greatly improved too. As a former employee (many moons ago) I know previous management was lacking in a) hiring the right people, and b) training them. I would highly recommend Curley Cone for someone looking for a great meal or dessert! read more

We are in from out of town and came here for breakfast. This place is so cute...like a diner set up inside. The food was really good. Pancakes are huge. The server was quite friendly and another walked around making sure coffees were full. I also had the brilliant idea of getting a cinnamon roll. THIS is it. Breakfast for tomorrow too! read more

We have dined inside a few times and the food is always delicious and hot out of the kitchen. Service is great and we love the decor and feel of a mid-century diner. In our past 2 visits, food was very slow to arrive with only a few occupied tables. I highly recommend this casual eatery but be prepared for your meal to take 30-45 minutes to be served. read more

You can not leave without checking out the fudge, bakery offerings, and obviously the ice cream. The girl cussed and threw a menu AT me. Ordered a cone and paid. She asked if we wanted our change and walked away not really giving us a chance to answer. Have been a local going to this restaurant for 5 years. All of the negative reviews are pretty on point. Employees are all very young teenagers who most likely learn their customer service etiquette from the owner. Using the drive through for take out is a nightmare. 90% of the time, the take out order is missing items. Was once not given my card back, given all of my food and told to have a nice day. Without thinking, I pulled away. Before leaving the parking lot, realized they had my card. Parked, returned inside and was met by a young girl angrily asking "WHY would you do that??" As if I was dining and dashing while they had my card. Or had some profound answer other than.. It wasn't given back to me. I could not understand the hostility. Today may have been the last straw. After giving my card to pay, was told there was a $1 up charge on cards. I was not upset, but shocked. Since when? I have no cash on me and was not notified of this before picking up. The teen at the window tells me "It's JUST a dollar up charge.." as if I'm being unreasonable and stingy for being shocked at this new policy. I dove into some reviews and realized this has been done in the past. 4 months ago, and a year and a half ago. Apparently this fee is only passed on to customers when they aren't making as much money as they'd like. Amazing. One order took an hour and a half even using the drive through without other customers present, then had two different waitresses forget the order, cook had to come out to the car personally, then send another waitress to give a refund bc by that time we had to leave. Its a nice ice cream stop, they have a large variety of hand dipped and soft serve ice creams. They also do a variety of shakes and sundae's. They have a food menu also. The location is new for them in the last few years and has a nice layout. They have plenty of indoor seating and also out door seating. In addition they have a drive through which makes getting your ice cream on the go. The interior was definitely planned by a women as everything is pinks and decorative. The feel to me is like I am getting an ice cream cone in a pink hair salon/clothing store. This place definitely does not feel like an ice cream stop. Cute place. I think it might be better in the summer or at least I hope so. We had the dog pile combo and Carolina dog. They tasted ok, but unfortunately were cold. Ice cream is always good, however walking into the place- few tables empty and dirty & a few tables sat we stood at the counter for a bit til someone decided to help us. These kids that work there could at least say, "welcome to Curley Cone, we will be with you in a moment" But instead 3 people walked past us and didn't acknowledge us. 2 workers stood at the counter and didn't look up to greet us. Worst service ever! We sat for 19 minutes waiting for someone to take our order, watching the 3 teenage girls behind the counter chat with the owner who seemed to think she also was a teenager herself playing popularity games, despite clearly pushing her late 60's. Finally one of the girls comes over and we order, she returned to the counter and stops and chats up the owner again before putting in our order. We received our food, a burger and fries and a slice of pie after 48 minutes, the place had only one other table of two people. We were treated to the day's entertainment of hearing the woman who was clearly the owner, scream at one girl and then the cook. As far as masks, apparently they don't believe in them in this establishment. I saw one mask worn and that was by a person who clearly thinks their chin breathes. We were very disappointed.
