I am pretty stoked there are new spots opening around home and have visited Curator 23 twice already and they have only been open about a week!
The environment is much brighter than the previous cafe and you can really tell that the staff are really trying to do their best.
Pros:
At Curator 23, there is a communal table or you can snag a spot for yourself inside or at the back courtyard. The price versus quality is pretty on par, it isn't the fanciest place and they seem to be trying a bit of a fusion style (pancakes with some boba on the side, salad with pickeled veges) which is great. The serving sizes are generous too.
Other good things: freshly squeezed juices, free wifi, friendly staff, assorted cakes
Cons:
Coffee seemed a little burnt, staff didn't seem to work with areas so you get asked numerous times for the same thing (almost over service? I'd rather that than being under served), some of the fusion flavours were unnecessary (bursting boba with pancakes, made the dish too busy), the smoked salmon was served on a beautiful board but was difficult and messy to eat (be better on a plate).
We tried:
Sweet potato chips - think it is packed frozen so not as sweet/fresh, also served on a gigantic board so it made it look a bit empty.
Ricotta pancakes - too busy, came with ice cream, berry coulis, assorted fruits, boba
Salmon two ways - delicious, could be eaten easier if it was served on a plate
Chai - for the price it is a pretty small cup, thought I would get a pot!
Orange juice - sweet and freshly squeezed
Coffee- a little flat and burnt
Corn fritters - pretty good, slightly more crisp would be even better
Being in the infancy stage I will be going back here as there is no fighting for parking and the food is a-ok. I look forward to having a local breakkie go to! read more
