There is no compassion or empathy here to get to the root of your problems--opticians or doctors. What's worse is I went to a new doctor and he verified they had gone way too strong on the prescription causing my issues and was shocked at their poor attention to care and said shame on them for ever allowing this. Throughout the appt, I tried to be friendly and respectful, but I didn't feel that same level of courtesy in return. The doctor also made several comments about how I put my contacts in without using a mirror, saying he couldn't believe I did it that way and that it was "wrong." It felt like an odd thing to focus on and came across as more judgmental than educational. Overall, I left feeling a little uncomfortable and not particularly welcomed. Dr. Derber has always been extremely thorough and meticulous when conducting eye exams and she still conducts that high level of care today. My eyesight has actually improved a little over the years due to her expert care. I now live in Castle Rock and I still drive down to Colorado Springs every year for my annual eye checkups with Dr. Derber. Her new office on Explorer Dr. is much nicer than the old location on N. Academy, with it having all of the amenities of a modern eye care center. The staff there is always kind and professional. It's also very convenient to get to from HWY I-25 and being so close to the Briargate shops.

Took my mentally and physically disabled sister to this doctors office as a referral from her…read moreprimary eye doctor. My sisters appointment was at 2:40pm. I complained as it was 3:30pm and she had still not been seen. We were assured they would see us quickly. Mind you, we live in the country 1hr away, so when we come into town we have all her appointments and errands mapped out for the day. I explained this to the front staff as well. I was able to reschedule my Sister's next appointment which was at 4 PM. I rescheduled till 4:30 PM same day. We were taking back but ended up being the last people seen so when we left the office, the doors were closed lights off and not one patient in the office. I felt this was intentional! This is how medical has gone down in Colorado Springs. The doctors want you to respect their time, but they have no respect for yours, even having people sign forms where they will be charged when they are late. Colorado is known to be the number one state when it comes to people with disabilities. If the doctor is running behind, they should give patients a call prior to their appointment and get the same respect that they expect. An appointment lasting from 240 until almost 5 PM for a disabled woman who is also about to have a tantrum in the office is completely unacceptable. I would like to know if this is the same owner as the ear associates? People need to start filing complaints with the state of Colorado medical board and any other board because this is completely unacceptable, especially in Colorado!
