A half dozen tables with chairs for lunch or Connect Four, water fountains peppered throughout and a clean, untarnished feel makes this recent renovation worth swinging the kids by. Street parking is avail, and being off the beaten path, the spots are likely open.

Found this & through it in the Bookmarks, was out yesterday & it was Hot so we decided to take a look... Pulled up right in front of the gate & parked which was great... Was instantly pleased just from looking from the street... Love that the whole park is gated and all the parents there used them every time they went in & out... (I have a 2 YO that loves to run away) There are TONS of tables (some in shade) there are 2 huge playhouse thingys, one is for smaller kids & my son LOVED IT. We walked over to try out the water sprinkler (which is hand activated) but he doesnt love water soo much... There is a cool see saw but he had no desire to try it out, so back to the slide we went... Hate that this park is soo out of the way from home, but if we are ever in the area guarantee we are stopping in.

I went midday on a Saturday and it was pretty quiet and a perfect calm picnic date. They seem to have newly renovated the space and there is a nice playground for the kids and some picnic tables at the bottom of the hill for families to enjoy. There was actually a birthday happening at the bottom of the hill when I was there.

This is especially dangerous for someone who hopes to walk safely with a dog reactive dog on a leash in this general area. Additionally, like any neighborhood dog park, there seems to be a community of people who frequent this one regularly, at least before work hours. One, with a larger breed dog, was completely indifferent when his dog escalated playtime with my dog and tried to bite him, definitely scaring him. Given that I have encountered dogs that are not necessarily well behaved coupled with the fact that this area is often full of awful leash dogs running where they should not be (recently, I had been going there again because there is a fence limiting pedestrian traffic on the fields, possibly due to some landscaping work). I could not report this incident animal control because my dog was not bitten/had his skin broken, but the rude face the other owner made to me and his dismissive nature of my concern was alarming. There are absolutely some dog parks people go to to just ignore their dogs when they have too much energy, and unfortunately this, like the one on Putnam Street, is becoming that.

One playground is tiny & probably meant for littler children and it would have been great for my son except it was packed and there are no benches which is awkward... So I noticed another little playground up the ramp so I went up there & that one is bigger in size, but it wasnt really that advanced where I wouldnt let my 2 yo explore... and there were TONS of benches... So we are sitting & playing & when all of a sudden the School Doors open up & about 300 kids run out, It was pandemonium... The school houses Summer Camp & kids were everywhere, My son went nuts, he loves running crazy kids... As fast as they were all there they were gone, they went up to all the baseball/basketball fields.... So after a good hour of playing & running up & down slides, we went to watch all the kids play kickball (which made me realize camp counsellors are rude & have no patience with little kids - but thats a whole other story)... The park is HUGE & from what Im told they have all the city Little League games there... I would def recommend for a morning out! Ginn Field - how you've changed…read more This is a big soccer/softball field in Winchester, near the Wedgemere T station. The soccer and softball areas haven't changed in 20 years. The playground has. When I was a kid, it was all rusty swingsets and one of those deadly spinner-things - remember them? Almost broke my neck on that. It was replaced years ago by a giant wooden 2-story playground structure. Kids LOVE it. Got a number of slides, sandbox, seperate small "fort" for the small ones, swings. It's in OK shape. I am always surprised that the kids don't get splinters here. It's WOOD. But it's been so worn down over the years that it's all smooth. Private parking lot - not terribly big but at least they got it - assuming you can find the entrance (hint: go to the post office). The playground structure was all the rage when it was built - but it's dated now. Wood? All the new ones have plastic and steel. Ice cream truck will stop by, though. Side note: remember the flood of '96? Ginn Field filled up like a bowl of cereal. I'm not kidding. It's sort of a bowl-shape in and of itself, and it's right next to the Aberjona River, which itself used to flow straight through where the current field is now. Just remember, that where you're standing, was once 10 feet under in water and sewage..... yum.

This is not your typical playground. There are multiple sections of the park, which make it great for exploring. You turn a corner and cross a bridge and you're in a new space with new features! In the lower section, there is a water garden with misting fountains turned on during the warmer months. There are plenty of benches for taking a rest or snack time among the well-maintained greenery. I'd say for kiddos under 2, maybe even 3, playing on the pirate ship and near the slides definitely needs close adult supervision. The plank up the hill to the ship is quite steep, as are the two slides on the other side of the park. Definitely worth the trek into Seaport with your little ones!

I saw four swings for babies/toddlers and swings for older kids are behind the slides. Street parking.

Bathrooms were fine. The pool had such a beautiful color to it. It's very calming. It's not over crowded. There's a picnic bench outside. I really like it here!! Again the manager was great!!!!!!!!!

Duggar Park has been a West Meffa institution since my Dads younger days (he just turned 70!), back when West was the predominantly Black neighborhood of Medford. The Rhône tennis courts were named after a well known resident, and events are held throughout the spring/summer here. There's 2 playgrounds here, a sprinkler some tennis courts and a basketball court all along the Mystic river neighboring Somerville. And maybe even once in awhile you'll catch the ice cream truck stopping by. I have so many great memories of this park from the 80s/90s there's no reason why it doesn't deserve 5 stars. It's a great local small park if you're in the area great for kids and families.
