My son is a patient since day one, treated by Dr Traxler, an expert in the field , understanding and always ready to give hints or recommendations to new mothers at the time. This group won't see you if you need immediate care -- they will refer you to Urgent Care. They lack compassion and care if you are able to get in. You will be just a number and money to this group. I see Janice and Morris the most frequently; no complaints - 2 awesome ladies. Out of the maybe... 50 or more times I have been there, only twice have I ever left not feeling as though we are on the best track. Great place, fun environment. They let you nurse in patient rooms! Great phone nurse line. When my kids were sick over Christmas and I had to get them on the phone for 2 ear infections, they were SO patient. What more could a Mom ask for. read more

Our daughter is very sick with an ear infection (we know this because we took her to urgent care last night where they prescribed antibiotics). Brought her in to double check what's going on with her, she(not naming) said she just has a virus, saw nothing in her ears and gave us no answers or anything. read more

I'm disappointed to have to post this but we have had a very poor experience with this office.  If your Newborn needs special care please seek somewhere else. We have a MicroPremie (25wks) and were referred to a physician there who was not taking patients so we decided to go anyways.  During the first appointment and subsequent need for prescription it took 2 days to get and Donna said finally said 'look, everyone wants their baby taken care of first'.  This was after two days of trying to get a call returned and prescription sent for Pepcid. The way they treated my postpartum wife and the inexperience costs us precious time when OT and PT was needed.  After 87 days in the NICU to be told we didn't qualify for Medicaid, when we did, was disheartening.  The NICU said dont worry you're covered and your pedatrician will help. After calling and being told many things through other organizations we were referred back to the Pediatrician not properly submitting or letting us know we could (and should) seek private OT/PT. I might also note that the office Manager (who proudly said her name was 'Rachel Cochran' which is the only reason I feel comfortable writting it) was rude and stated we 'Lied' about the case and I yelled at their staff.  It is telling how management responds to problems and this was what told us we should find another Ped.  I'd like to add we were very respectful to the staff in our communications so for her to jump to that was telling.  If you look at Yelp reviews, we're unfortunately not the first. Please work with your Hospital Counselor as well as they helped when the Ped would not.  Unfortunately I would say inexperience is the problem with how this was handled along with a lack of accountability.  This coming from someone who never reviews, I just Genuinely don't want another family to have to go through this. read more

Our family has used Cumming Pediatric Group for the last 4 years and will never use anyone else. The nurses and doctors are fantastic!! We are able to make same day appointments when one of our children happens to be sick,(which was a lot when my son was an infant!) and we never have to wait long to be taken to a room or to see a doctor.(a huge plus when you have a sick baby!) The doctors and nurses take very good care of our children, we never feel rushed like we are just a number, and the providers always take our concerns seriously! Very poor service. I will never recommend this group for the kids . They don't have any courtesy regarding their patients which are small babies and kids. My daughter had been going here since she was born. We love Janice, she is so amazing....but.... It is a shame that the management here "tried" to force vaccinations on my child that are not even required by the state, by bullying us to either get all the vaccinations today or we are fired as a patient???!!! I do see the benefits of vaccinations but I refuse to have someone force me do something to MY child, all because you want $$$$$ in your pocket! I had to change pediatricians because of the horrible staff in this practice. The nurse did not introduce herself, so I am unable to give her name, and she was very curt in her dealings not only with me but also with my daughter. She got irritated when she wiggled and proceeded to speak to me in a tone that I didn't appreciate and also a tone that isn't remotely professional, or becoming, of a pediatric nurse. The doctor that I saw, Dr Morris, didn't include the vaccinations on her take home report under the category labeled, labs, tests and/or procedures ordered today. I think that is information that should be put there since that is the information an informed parent needs to have. After my visit, I called to get that information from your office. I was asked if I wanted the information emailed to me and I stated that would be fine. Instead of emailing me a copy of that shot record, I was sent a link to a portal. This would have been fine if, since I haven't ever used it and I am new to your practice, I would have been given some sort of instructions. I had no idea that everything was under my husband because I am the one that brought her into the office. That should have been included in the information that was emailed to me. So I called your office back to speak to someone for proper instructions and the girl that I spoke with actually, at the end of our conversation, hung up on me. I'm not sure of her name because she spoke so fast. So, it goes without saying, I'm not happy with the practice. DISHONEST STAFF!!! I rarely write a review but feel it necessary to warn moms and dads that this office has a very dishonest staff. I went back and forth with their office manager on two separate occasions (2 different years) and, though I was able to prove their office staff charging error, she lied and lied and lied and tried to tell me the "facts" of what occurred, even though she wasn't present during the two situations. Plain and simple...the office staff made billing errors but, instead of recognizing their errors, they instead tried to blame me, the customer, the one being charged exorbitant fees for something that in all actuality should not have been costly at all. I completely understand when inadvertent errors occur (everyone is human) but I cannot accept lying repeatedly in order to cover your billing errors. You have been warned. read more

Dr was nice but office needs new management. Long wait, staff was rude and bossy to parents with sick and crying children. They have a well room and a sick room. Guess what, in the sick room every seat is crammed full. The well room is wide open. It is a doctors office. Why waste 50% of you space when 90% of you "customers" are there because they are sick? I took her in to see them and they told me her reaction was unrelated to the vaccines. And they did not put the visit in her chart. Before coming back to the dr I asked for an alternative schedule where she would be able to get less vaccines and come back again to get the ones she didn't receive. They agreed. At the that dr visit they gave my child all the routine vaccines and didn't follow our agreed schedule. She experienced another horrible reaction. I took her back in to be seen. And they diagnosed her with something and said it wasn't related to shots. I didn't realize at that time they hadn't followed the schedule I agreed. Before making her next appointment I called to make sure she was scheduled for only the shots I wanted her to have. I was then told she was never placed on an alternate schedule and that she didn't qualify because I refused her 1 month hepatitis shot. They threatened that if I did not get the shots they wanted me to that I would be released from their office for being an antivaxer. They agreed to let me give her less shots so I brought her in. When the dr came in I asked how many shots she would receive and she told me 2. I explained which ones I wanted her to have. She agreed. The dr walked out and the nurse came in and gave my child 3 different shots. When I called to speak with the dr she said I did agree and that I was lieing and being negligent in caring for my child if I didn't get al the shots that they wanted to give her. After looking at my child's chart i saw that she never missed her one month hepatitis shot and the nurse manager had lied about that as well and used it as a tactic to do whatever they wanted to my child despite what I had said I wanted. As a mother of 3 I have never felt so betrayed. I thought I could trust them. They snuck around with sly words agreeing with me but then continuing with what their agenda was. Our family recently made the switch to Cumming Pediatrics and couldn't be happier. The front office staff is always so friendly, the nurses are so patient with my girls and the Doctors are the best! We normally see Dr. Traxler and my girls adore her and trust her which is so comforting. The office atmosphere is amazing and so kid friendly. Very bad experience here and Unfortunately I have to leave a star.... we've had a bad experience here with their office manager, Rachel. We've had issues here with other staff being really rude also. Mainly it was over just trying to get a sick note to cover the days my child was out of school. You would've thought we were asking for a kidney. Rachel clearly forgot I was the customer and treated us extremely BAD over a bill. She is condescending and rude beyond words! They're very unprofessional, and did not care about our situation. They billed us for $150.00 for what they Would've billed to our insurance ( maybe this is why there's an insurance crisis) The normal price is $75 for a visit unless they have to do random testing, and in our case they did not. My child had a simple sinus infection so the bill was $75. The doctor listened to her chest and felt lymph nodes- nothing more--- All of this cost is because they basically want to punish us because we opted to decline on our cobra insurance. I expected they'd send me a bill for $75, but because they want to be pricks about this I have a bill for $150, which they absolutely refuse to negotiate on!!!! They Refuse to split the bill into a few payments, too!!! We have seen Dr. Traxler for many years, and have liked her a lot. She went to this terrible practice about a year ago after leaving her own so we followed her here. Never had a problem when she was on her own. We recently had to go for a minor sick visit, And We are in between insurances. We decided we'd try for cobra right at the time of the visit. At the time of the visit I told them to bill the cobra as they gave us a reference number. I received our first monthly cobra bill about a week or two after this visit. We decided we didn't want the cobra when we saw it was nearly $2000. In the " real world" people change their minds, and we should have the right to opt out of whatever we want. I figured the doctors office would be sending me a bill, which they did two days ago. The bill is $150.00 for what they billed to the cobra. The biggest issue is their strait up refusal to drop it to the normal $75 since we have to self pay. I will be honest and say it's clearly just to stick it to me out of their own warped frustration. I plan on finding a new doctor now out of pure principal- mainly it's the way Rachel and the other office staff has spoke to me and treated us. Rude is clearly an understatement here- they wouldn't listen or negotiate at all! Talking over me and not listening is not how you treat customers and patients. I've never run into anything quite like this! It's clearly a money making business and they don't care about their patients at all, or for that matter trying to keep them!!! I want to point out that the waits here have been awful as well! They are anywhere from 45 minutes to over an hour. This last visit was an hour and fifteen min wait! I have had other issues with some of their nurses/medical assistants also. There just seems to be bad moral here. With the exception of one doctor that is impossible to see, my experience has proved that most individuals here are not competent, and they practice very defensive medicine--meaning that they are afraid to say what they think...or they're just plain incompetent. We used this practice for 2 years before finally deciding that we just need to find something else. I think they are definitely too money hungry. I say this because too many times they have been quick to shove prescriptions down our throat, some that we obviously didn't need (and told them we didn't need/want...they had it automatically filled at our pharmacy anyways), and some without explaining what they did or why we needed it. Their appointment times have never been convenient. There is never an appointment available at the beginning or end of the day where I could miss the least amount of work possible, and if I call in for a sick visit, often times I cannot be seen until much later that day. 99% of the time I call the nurse line, she just has me schedule an appointment without giving me any advice on what I could do for at-home care to avoid having to bring him in. Our latest appointment, which is what sent me over the edge, my husband took our son in for a well check up. Was told upon check in that it was a follow up to a sick visit and they tried to charge us, it was not and the doctor from our prior sick visit knew we had this well check scheduled and apparently tried to make some money out of it. The NP said our son had some wheezing so she couldn't do the well check, didn't say why the wheezing prevented a well check. Gave our son a nebulizer treatment, said wheezing was gone, and still did not do the well check. While my husband was trying to give the nebulizer treatment to our screaming baby who wasn't having it, their staff decided it's a good time to hand him some questionnaire to fill out, which he could have done when he first got there and was sitting in the waiting room for forever. I filled out our post-appointment survey accurately with my grievances and concerns, saying that I wanted to leave the practice. We had to schedule yet another appointment, missing even more work that we really can't afford to miss (going back to the inconvenient appointment times). Called to make that appointment (one week later, obviously have not had time to research and review all the pediatricians in the area yet) and they had tossed my baby's file because they assumed I was already with a new practice. No call to confirm or apologize. Because they don't care. They care very much about money and how much they can get out of you. There is no personal connection here and no concerns to what your individual needs are. Extremely disheartening and disappointing. ***To the owner's comment: Nice corporate response in attempt to save yourself from a bad review. Still did not address the fact that inadequate information is given to us from your providers. Still did not address the fact that we were not shown the level of concern that we needed or that you advertise. Still no acknowledgement of your mistakes. Still no apology. Your response is pathetic. The way my family has been treated like just a number among hundreds to make money off of and not like an actual family, is pathetic. read more

I'm appalled to see they removed my rating from 2009. We had our first son. We like the proximity and ease of location. In all of our trips, we thought we were meeting with the doctor. Not once did a doctor see our son. When we confronted them, they said we must have had a mix up of asking for nurse Hahn vs Dr Khan. We said...nope. We know how to pronounce DOCTOR and we certainly never said we want a NURSE HAHN to see our child. The straw that broke the camel's back was being late by 16 minutes vs 15 minutes means you cant see a doctor. I'm sorry we were late. It's our first child but we shouldnt have to reschedule 2 weeks later for being 16 minutes late. read more

My daughter has been seeing this practice since birth. I typically have a great experience. I don't mind that I usually see a NP and Janice and Heather are great. All of the MDs have been great as well. I recently was seen by another NP that I had an issue with previously. This is what is compelling me to complete a review. First encounter I had a few years ago I was led to believe nothing was wrong with my child. After continued signs of illness and my persistence a chest X-ray revealed pneumonia. This most recent visit, which I reluctantly accepted with this same NP proved once again problematic. She said my daughter (who was having no signs of pain btw) had such a severe ear infection and she was worried about "hearing loss". Even drew a diagram of what she was seeing on the paper chair cover. Sent me home with a script for antibiotics. Now as we all know, you don't mess around with taking antibiotics! Well, just so happens my daughter had an allergic reaction. So back we go, another copay to boot, and the Dr. we saw said she saw no signs of an infection. Weird right? So I follow up with an ENT a week later, and yet another copay, to indeed confirm my daughter is fine. I'm a little upset I subjected my daughter to antibiotics unnecessarily but I guess it's good I now know she's allergic??? Trust your instincts and stand up for your babies! If something wrong, it probably is! I will continue to use this practice but will refuse to ever see this provider again! read more

I was pretty disappointment with this establishment. We did the meet and greet & tour when looking for the perfect pediatrician office in June for our baby girl due in August. The pediatrician who did the meet & greet directly told us that with this office we will meet all the pediatricians they have in their establishments the first few visits so that way we can choose which one we connect the best with & that will be our baby's Doctor. My fiancé and I loved this, because that's what we wanted. A place where The doctor will know Sawyer & she will know them. Well our baby is now 6months and we have yet to meet a doctor!!!!!!! We always deal with a nurse. If that we weren't going to meet with the doctors as told in the tour & if that isn't the case than why tell us that?! So we have had about 6 visits with this establishment & haven't met a doctor yet, only the nurse who still doesn't recognize or know our child. We had problems with our billing because the office neglected to tell us important information in the beginning, which could have avoided problems (we are having now) in the future. It has just been a mess. Even in our monthly appointments the nurse wouldn't even give us advice or tell us what Our daughter should be doing & what we should do with her(trying solids, etc) It was the same "any questions?" every visit. It was just strange. Oh & our baby was in the NICU!!!!!! & we had to meet with a cardiologist!!! YOU WOULD THINK WE WOULD HAVE MET WITH A PEDIATRICIAN At least once!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In my personal opinion, if you want a pediatrician office who treats your kid special this is NOT the place. This establishment to me treated us & our baby like absolutely nobody important but just another person coming in giving them money. We switched and have never been happier!!!!! All the visits(3) we have had with our new doctors office, we have met with the same pediatrician& they recognize who our daughter is. Glad we switched. read more

This is not a review for Cumming Pediatric Group as a whole but a review for Dr. Ken Carter who is one of the pediatricians at this practice. Dr. Carter should absolutely not be practicing pediatrics. He has horrible bedside manner. I took my two sick sons to see him this morning as our regular pediatrician was unavailable during the holidays (who by the way is an amazing pediatrician...Dr. Panyavee Khan). I was extremely disappointed with the way that Dr. Carter interacted with my kids....in fact, come to think of it, there was no interaction at all. He didn't make them feel comfortable nor did he talk to them or reassure them in any way. He simply examined them and when they seemed uncomfortable, asked me to lay them down to make his examination easier. The worst of his behavior showed when he shoved a tongue depressor down my son's mouth and made him regurgitate his breakfast while he was lying down on his back! As I think back to the experience, I don't remember Dr. Carter even apologizing to my son nor me! I can't believe that this grumpy person is a pediatrician. He doesn't seem to enjoy his work. I would never recommend that he see any children. If you're reading this, do yourselves and your children a favor and avoid Dr. Ken Carter. read more

Office staff is great but noticed recently that we only get to see an RN or PA. Even the RN's conduct the wellness visits. They seem to have a list of tests they run through every time we're there when my kids are sick - no matter what the symptoms. Sometimes we get a diagnosis sometimes we don't. We will be switching to another practice soon. read more

I had to change Pediatric offices bc my old one closed and this place is terrible! I have two boys: 2 and 1 year old. My appointment was at 3pm, didn't get seen until 30 minutes later. During this time they make you wait in a separate waiting room and if you leave this over crowded area the office manager yells at you and says that they consider that leaving. Also they don't have kids thermometers?! The kind to take on the head, even I have one at home! They had to take it twice on my kids under their arms bc they wouldn't stay still. Also you can't take strollers into the waiting area bc it's too crowded (I mean it's a kids pediatric office!)-they have a designated area for strollers outside of the waiting area to put the strollers. Thank god my husband took off work to help with the boys otherwise it would've been a worse experience. Never going back! Too many rules and the office manager was just so rude with our situation with my kids crying and I needed to walk around and hold/cuddle them to calm them down. read more

My boys and I love Cumming Pediatrics! Everyone there from the office staff to the doctors and nurses are fantastic. We typically see Dr. Augustine, but have seen every Doctor and Nurse Practitioner there at least a time or two. We have always been more than happy with the level of care we receive. I feel like they listen to me well and do everything in their power to help my babies feel better when they're sick and stay well when they aren't. I've always been able to get in to see someone quickly when I've called with a sick baby. I feel like I'm coming in to see my friends when I bring in the boys and everyone is always so happy to see them again (unless of course they're sick, then they are happy to see them but not at all happy that they have to be there). I adore the office staff and nurses. They were so friendly from the first time I came by when I was pregnant with my first son and my husband and I had just moved to the area. They were some of the first people that I could call "familiar faces" for quite a while and I really looked forward to seeing them and still do. All of the Doctors and Nurse Practitioners are wonderful too. We see Dr. Augustine regularly and she's amazing. The boys love her. I definitely recommend Cumming Pediatrics to anyone looking for quality healthcare for their kids. read more

This was our first option for a Pediatric Group for our daughter (First child). Our daughter was delivered by C-Section and because of complications, she had to go to the Neonatal ICU for 5-6 days to get treated for infection, jaundice, and cardiac problems. She's now 4 months old and we've been to the Pediatricians office at least 7-10 times. NOT ONE of those times have we to actually seen a Doctor/Pediatrician, we've only ever seen a nurse or nurse practitioner.. They claim to have over 5 Doctors yet we've never seen one and our daughter was in the ICU. Our daughter also just got her first flu/cold and she was coughing on phlegm, so we took her in and they prescribe Nasal Saline.. Are you kidding me??!! Cumming Pediatrics, which should be named Cumming Nursing Facility for Children, see's their patients as sheep, not people, they get you in and out as quickly as possible. On another note, the Practitioner that we've seen 6 times now, still doesn't remember us. "Oh well, she's busy and she see's all these other clients", well then where are all the Doctors you claim to have. The only good thing about this office is the front desk because the clerks actually somewhat remember you.. We also told them that we would be getting Medicaid for our daughter and they failed to tell us that they only except 1 of the 3 plans under Medicaid, since we ended up selecting a plan they don't except, they are now making us pay a bill after we've been told they don't accept our plan. This office functions very poorly and highly suggest going to another Pediatric Group that will actually remember who you are and the name of your child. read more
