It's no secret that I'm a big time fan of Culver's. While I'm not quite willing to call it a perfect 5-star experience, it's one of the few chains where I consistently have a good experience. I was in Shelbyville checking out a couple of cars. My friend and I decided to grab a sandwich. As she knew of my fondness for Culver's, she immediately suggested this location. Culver's is a national chain with local ownership. There are certain things you can always depend on - interior and exterior design is generally consistent, Butterburgers, friendly employees (the entire recruiting vibe emphasizes family and a supportive environment), and a menu that is generally consistent from location to location. This location did seem to have a larger than usual parking lot. Culver's tends to do well with accessibility features, and they do offer outdoor tables (you order at the counter inside or the drive-thru). I'd always had a fondness for Culver's as my mother used to sell them their food in Central Indiana. However, during my cancer journey I found that butterburgers became a food worked on my stomach even during chemo. I have no idea why, but it was consistently true. I'm not particularly fond of the fries. Sometimes, I get a combo with cole slaw. Sometimes, I'll splurge on onion rings. I frequently just get a double butterburger with my unsweetened iced tea. This visit was quite positive. The employees were friendly, efficient, and quite professional. The food was tasty. The iced tea actually had ice in it (the Culver's by my house has a tendency to hand me an iced tea that has no ice - I have no idea why.). This was a quick visit. I would easily return. I always think Shelbyville is way far away. While I wouldn't say it's close to my Lawrence home, it's actually a pretty easy drive and a cool little city to visit. read more

First let me say I stopped in for Lunch while traveling. I will also say that Culver's has the best fast food burgers. Now, I pulled in to a still heavily snowed parking area. Don't get me wrong there was plenty of parking but you could tell they are still dealing with the snow. I walked in and was immediately taken care of. I placed my order got a number and sat down. My food was out before I even had time to check my email and texts. My burger and curds came out hot and my milkshake was super thick. I always eat my curds first as eating them cold is not my favorite. So I enjoyed them, then I tried my shake, still too thick to drink. Burger, deluxe butter burger. It was very good. Starting to cool down a little. Shake still thick. Burger was perfectly yummy. Finished it at the table. Wiped my mouth. Shake still thick so I took it with me. I finally got to enjoy the shake without trying to suck a golf ball through a garden hose, about 20 minutes into my drive home. As always still my favorite fast food place. read more

I stopped on a trip home from Cincinnati. It had been a long day, and I wanted to surprise my husband with a concrete mixer. When I placed my drive thru order, I received a number for my vehicle, and was told to pull "all the way forward and to the right." I did so, behind another vehicle. While waiting, I saw the passenger in front of me leave his car and go inside. I noticed the cars parked behind me leaving. I noticed other cars driving through the lot. I saw cars park on the left side of the driveway, and the man in the car came back with a bagged order. Then I saw the man get out of his car again, and go back inside. At this point I had been waiting 30 minutes, and had seen the cars on the left side of the driveway receive their orders and leave. I left my parking space and went back to the drive thru window and told the woman at the window I'd like to get my money back. She became flustered and asked for a manager. I'm not going to go into details, as I don't need to spread that negativity. I did receive my money back, after someone tried to hand me half of my order. I know it gets busy, and I understand that. I suggest the manager(s) take charge and recognize when something has gone wrong, and take steps to improve the process. read more

Considering that Shelbyville is a bit remote without higher end dining options, I'd give Culver's an A+ for convenience, service and taste, with the highlight being custard that isn't overly rich and out of this world good. The usual fast food options are all good - personally I'd opt for one of the chicken options - and I like the fact that there are seafood options which aren't sketchy. Have had both the chocolate and vanilla custards, the latter topped with peaches, and they are awesome!!! If you have limited appetite / time I'd skip straight to dessert ! read more

Food is always freshly prepared per customer requests. The staff that work there are friendly and very efficient.

There is a long, sad story about why we were in Shelbyville, IN, well past our normal dinner hour. But I won't bore you with that story. 1. I love Culver's fries! 2. their chicken "tenders" were prepared perfectly 3. The burger consumed by the carnivore (my partner) was pronounced perfect. Fast food can be horrible. It can be greasy and just bad. However, if you find a Culver's, They prepare your order after you order it. It doesn't sit in a warmer, waiting for Godot to arrive. It is prepared fresh when you order it! You sit in the drive thru window a little longer, but you do get great food! read more

Really great experience at this new Culver's location. I love having the option to get lunch at Culver's here, as I frequently work in the area. The employees here were outstanding. They were professional and enthusiastic, calling out sincere greetings as customers entered and thanking them as they left. The employees at the registers helpfully explained the menu to customers who appeared to be there for the first time. The dining room was very clean, as soon as a table was vacated it was thoroughly cleaned. Seating included round and rectangular tables, booths, and some high two-tops. The patio was very nice with several tables, with bench seating or chairs. On this visit I ordered a cod sandwich, fries, and a scoop of the flavor of the day. My food was very good as always. I have never been inside of a Culver's but after my experience today and the service we were provided by Steve-O, he makes me want to visit as often as I can! We ordered chicken tenders and fries and when our order was ready, he enthusiastically repeated our order and then proceeded to tell us he put two sides of ranch, buffalo sauce, ketchup and napkins in our bag! Then, he thanked us, told us to have a wonderful day and to come back again soon! We will!! For a fast food restaurant I was throughly impressed as the service you receive is usually sub par. We are fortunate to have this great fast food burger place in our little town. It's just across from the YMCA, so after a workout you can load back up on carbs! Love those skinny burgers with crispy edges on a nice fresh bun. Haven't eaten inside, just order at drive through and they bring it to your car. I was having a really bad day, we drove 3 hours to go to my friend who I'm in love withs football game, and he gave me not an ounce of attention, I started to doubting my worth and excepting the crums that fell from his plate, seeing myself no more then a dog. he went went out with all his friends after and didn't invite me. little did I know it was all in Gods plan, a blessing in disguise. me and my friends decided to go eat out ourselves. this is where you come into the story, never gave Culver's too much thought, it was always just there. we came across this specific one, and boy do I wish I could give it 100 stars, yet 5 is the limit. I didn't know what customer service could be until I walked in. I didn't feel like a dog anymore I felt like a person worthy of respect...a queen. 1. it was 25 minutes before closing, you could tell there was much joy in there hearts to serve us, our food fresh. 2.the guy moping the floor had so much care for each individual that they won't slip, you would think he was being payed 40$ an hour. and if he's not he should be. not to mention as I was walking over his freshly mopped floor with my dirty shoes he proceded to even complement my Jacket and he was telling me that he didn't want me to slip, and to be really careful, in the nicest way I've ever heard, I felt like a million bucks. a million bucks he should revive for his job well done. 2.not to mention the joy and laughter that seeped from the kitchen. of all the employees had together, you would think they were long lost high school friends having a reunion, not employees of a fast food restaurant. 3. We were passing through the area and were excited to see Culvers so we stopped in . We ordered two simple dessert items to go. After waiting at least 15 minutes, and having not yet received the items we ordered, we walked out and will never come back again on our travels through this area. What horrible service without so much as an "I'm so sorry for your wait" from any of the cashers that were right in my line of view as I waited in the lobby in front of them. We are big fans of Culvers as a whole but this location needs to get its act together. read more

Culver's food is the best fast food BY FAR compared to any other drive-thru quick service restaurant in Shelbyville, Indiana. The food quality, the food preparation and the service are all superior, ESPECIALLY THE BREAD!!! The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because the prices are a bit high, but 9 times out of 10 I would rather pay too much for food that actually tastes good and is well prepared, than buy cheap food that is barely edible with terrible service from literally every other fast food place in town. (Excluding Subway and King Gyros. They are both pretty good.) read more
