My husband and I go about three times a week and get their eight piece chicken basket. Last night it tasted like fish. This morning I called in to ask why and was told due to lent that on fish Fridays, the chicken will taste like fish. How was I supposed to know this, there was no sign nor was I informed before ordering. Mostly I'm upset because when I did call this morning and spoke with Manager Liz, she got defensive and was upset with me for not being okay with the fact that on Fish Fridays, my chicken will taste like fish. Unless, I have an allergy and ask it to be fried separately... She made me feel like I was in the wrong and Since she explained to me why it tasted like fish I was just supposed to be OK with it and she wanted to know what I expected her to do about it... very disappointed.. read more

Tired of getting old precooked cold food if I want cold food I would go to subway at least it's not cold and burnt

Ordered a concrete mixer and never got it until I had to walk up to the counter. This is ridiculous. I am pissed.

I've usually loved Culver's fish, but this time I was so disappointed. The dinner was supposed to include a role, butter, tartar sauce and ketchup...none of those were included. I even noticed the receipt listed "butter packet". When I called to complain about the omission, whoever answered just said, They're supposed to be included in the meal. I said, I know! She then stated she would remind everyone to include them. That was it - no offer for a refund, free item, nothing. After I hung up, I ate my fish. Both pieces had a bone in them. Food was good. Service was extremely slow and the person at the drive thru was beyond rude. Was told to pull forward to wait and she slammed the window shut. I had to get her attention again and asked how long it would be. She rolled her eyes and said "idk were busy" and slammed the door shut again. Brookings CULVERS is the BOMB. Food is good, custard is great, and the workers are awesome. Sure, if you go in during rush hour you might wait longer, but if you want a mystery meat burger pumped out in 3 seconds go to McDonalds. At least while you wait at CULVERS you can shoot the shit with the manager Clyde. The guy slings custard with the best of them. read more

Culver's is one of my favorite places to eat. I mean, who can resist the cheese curds and strawberry smoothies?! This one? The smoothie was great...in fact one of the better ones I've had in a long time. I could actually taste the lemon ice in it. The service however, definitely something to be desired. Actually, there was absolutely no friendliness. We had to repeat the order 3 times, no greeting, no straws, no napkins...and when we asked for a straw, we were just rudely given one out the window. Custard was great! Service was slow. We used the drive through and had to sit at the window for almost 10 minutes just to get custard. The drive through attendant that took our order was also not very polite and kept cutting us off mid order asking if that was all we wanted. read more

I normally don't review chains but since I'm really not that familiar with Culver's, tonight I'm making an exception. I'd heard the butter burgers were terrific and it didn't disappoint! Cooked perfectly with just the right amount of fat it totally melted in my mouth. I had the butter burger deluxe which is a double burger with cheese lettuce tomatoes and pickles. Too say I enjoyed it would be an understatement! So fresh tasting too. I would certainly believe their claim that they don't ever use frozen beef. I tried cheese curds which were extremely rich and decedent and they are addictive! Once I finished what I had. I found myself wishing I had another bag! As far as the service, the staff was super friendly and attentive and helpful. The restaurant was totally immaculate and it was a Friday night. I'm coming back before I leave Brookings! read more

My husband and I stopped here and used the 5 dollar gift card from our real estate agent and paid the difference for double scoop sundaes (black berry and raspberry). We were very, very disappointed in the quality of the frozen custard. It seems to be watered down in fact a DQ sundae has more in it. I guess we were lucky that they gave us only one scoop each. We will not be returning to this Brookings, SD store again and I can't think of why I would buy anything from this chain. I would give it a 1/2 star and that is only because I could taste the fruit. I grew up eating and loving A&W. Unfortunately there aren't anymore in this area, so Culver's in the next best thing. I love stopping in to Culver's for some chicken tenders, chili-cheese fries, and an ice cold root beer. Yum! Now I should point out that I am not really a huge fan of their hamburgers. I don't know if it's the meat, the butter, how the cook it, or what but it's not my thing. The rest of my family does not share my opinion. I do however absolutely love their other options, like their breaded jumbo shrimp, roast beef sandwich, and pork cutlet sandwich. What other fast food places offers up that kind of variety!? Plus seriously, their cheese curds are amazing. As is their custard, which takes ice cream to a whole new level. While Culver's is indeed a fast food restaurant, it also feels like a small town cafe. The kind of place you to take your family too after the game or concert. And it also fills the A&W void nicely. read more

Best burger in town! All their produce is fresh and their buns are amazing. What's great with burgers? Cheese curds of course and this place makes the best. Who doesn't like fried cheese. The only thing their missing is bacon. Make sure you save room for the custard. My favorite is the plain vanilla but you can put just about anything in it. They usually do something seasonal. read more

It's a Culvers, as a chain restaurant you should know what you're about to get, good burgers and cheesecurds. I normally try to stay away from chain restraints when travelling but I wanted something fast and that I knew would hold me over. read more

Best fast food burger in the region, surpassing many smaller places in quality such as Nick's and Bob's down in Sioux Falls. I give them 4 stars because despite the fact the buns are buttered and toasted, they are still 'fast food' buns and not freshly baked buns like Jimmy John's. This is not exclusive to Brookings location, they all use the same buns. For the price however these burgers exceed the quality of many places that have higher priced burgers.. I love how the juicy fatty goodness just seems to ooze from the beef. I'm not sure if it's because the beef is supposedly not frozen, but I love the mouth-feel and consistency of their beef. They also have above average custard, probably the best in Brookings. I recommend a "concrete turtle malt" 4.5 stars... one of the better burgers in Brookings. read more

Wisconsin cheese curds?!? Say what?!? My first time trying these deep fried nuggets of cheesy goodness and it won't be my last. My boyfriend and his friend who both live in Brookings wanted to get ice cream so we ended up cruising over to Culver's. They ordered the Concrete Mixers with fries for dipping but my eyes were drawn to the fried cheese on the menu so throwing caution to the wind, I got the curds. We went through r the drive thru so they asked us to drive up and pull to the side and that they bring our order to us when it was ready. Within five minutes or so, we were handed our bags of fried goodness and giant cups of Concrete Mixers. We sped off to Pioneer Park to pig out under the shade of the trees with the loud hum of the cicadas in the hot late afternoon air. I loved the curds. Perfectly fried on the outside and gooey on the inside. I wish we had these in California but we don't. Until we meet again! Muah. read more
