I would really like to give this eatery a good review because we spent a lot of money here, but have to agree with another patron's review that the food looked great upon serve; however, the taste sucked! The larb was just salty and missing the delicious lime juice and sweet tangy taste. The tomato sauce that came with the beef steak and rice dish was weird. Got the Sukiyaki noodle soup and the kaopoon aka curry chicken noodle soup, I must say their flavors are so on point. Very authentic southeast Asian flavors. I love my food extra spicy so I asked for a fresh Thai chili pepper to bite on as I eat and they sure did come through for me on that! Their peppers are so spicy! We visited Cully Central because of the rave reviews. We thought oh maybe the food is bomb and there aren't many, if any, Lao food establishments in town. The place is cute and has a very welcoming feel. Seating inside and outside. I noticed dogs outside too, which is awesome. They have a bunch of beer on tap. You order at the counter, find a seat, and then bus your own table. That's pretty chill and cool. I'll rate 5 stars for the place itself. Nice hangout. Food. The menu is limited which is fine. That's actually appealing. They sell some typical Lao street foods, which is cool. The food looked great, as you can see in the pictures, but it all tasted mediocre. It's very fitting for someone who isn't too familiar with southeast Asian foods, but if you are familiar with it then you've probably, most likely, definitely had better. It wasnt terrible, but it also didn't make my brain log it as a new go-to place for food. Papaya was eh. Sausage was okay. Tomatoes pepper was okay. Spicy noodles was just the spicy Korean noodle packs you can buy at the Asian market for a buck or 2. Nam rice had no nam sausage. Just a bit of ground pork. Wut. It too was eh. Nothing was terrible. Yesterday I stopped in Cully Central to grab a bite with a friend. We arrived to see the Patio hopping as my nostrils became enchanted with smell of Larb and pork. My palatte was home. I ordered potstickers and the #2 Larb medium spicy. Zing! Piercing flavor and paired with the lettuce and cucumber I couldn't help but devour it on the spot. Every dish here is amazing, but my favorites are the mook gai, mushroom larb, and the #1 soup. 11/10, always perfectly prepared, spicy and full of flavor. If you want to kick the spice up a notch, they have homemade chili oil. The vegetarian/vegan options don't disappoint either - don't be afraid to bring your veggie friends! Tried CC for first time this evening. Friendly service, great for kids (we had a handful). My brisket was delicious and the best part of the meal. I was startled (and disappointed) in all of the disposable service ware. Plates, utensils, basically everything except glassware were all single use disposable. Papaya salad (which tasted earthy but also borderline funky) came in a separate plastic container and then the rice was wrapped separately in plastic as well, with every single condiment serving in its own individual plastic container. So. Much. Plastic. I'm hoping CC changes this when the city rolls out its new plastics reduction policy for restaurants next July. Also while presentation of food felt like a cart, the pricing felt very sit down casual restaurant. To spend almost $30 (with tip) for a small drink, a kids menu entree that is premade cheap food-not judging I just know how much a corn dog and fries costs--even with labor added on--and an adult entree- raises my expectations of what the experience should be. Maybe I'm missing the concept. But it seemed like a confusing hybrid of cart and sit down that left me wondering where the value for the guest really lies. read more

Mazuki, who took our order was sweet and helpful, taking time to help me decide what I'd be happiest with since everything looked delicious. Ended up with the handmade rice noodle soup, the nam khao with pork, the spicy noodles with egg and the mango with coconut rice for dessert. Food came out quickly and everything was fantastic. Ok. Khao Niew at Cully Central serves up some legit Lao food. It reminds me of eating at my Laotian friends houses growing up and is so comforting. First, Lao food is bold but approachable if you're new to this cuisine. Here, I'd suggest the #4 (pieng sien / grilled brisket) #7 (nam khao / crispy rice salad) and the #11 (sai ua / Lao sausages). The 4&11 are served with sticky rice. For those wondering WTF to do with your sticky rice, grab off a nub, form it into a lil ovoid ball, pick up a piece of grilled brisket or sausage, dip it in the delicious roasted tomato sauce and enjoy! Welcome to your new Lao food addiction! The crispy rice salad is sticky rice that's flavored with some red curry and coconut and formed into a puck before being deep fried. It's then broken up and dressed with lime juice and herbs and a fermented pork sausage. This dish is available vegan also. It's served with lettuce cups and it's just damn good! You get those savory crispy rice bits with chewy bits and the tangy finish is just amazing. Again, welcome to your new Lao food addiction. For the more adventurous eaters, get the #3. The sien savanh & thum muk huong- this is deep fried Lao style beef jerky with papaya salad. A word about the papaya salad - it's made with padek, which is a fermented fish sauce. It imparts an aroma and color to the green papaya salad that makes it look sketch by American standards, but it's delicious! There's also chunks of tomato in there. This dish is where you can live your spicy food fantasy by asking for it spicy. THEY DO NOT F AROUND WHEN YOU ASK FOR IT SPICY! I love it, but it's definitely possible that this dish will remind you how spicy it was on its way out of your body, if you know what I mean! The Lao style beef jerky is the perfect accompaniment with its sweet and salty flavor and deep frying it makes it a bit easier to chew actually. They sell just the beef jerky by the half or full pound also. Lastly, the khao piek sen- the chicken noodle soup - get the optional quail eggs. This is the ultimate comfort food! Delicious broth with a bold flavor with hand cut rice noodles, chicken, herbs and quail eggs. It's perfect. If you wanna try something that is pho adjacent that is just heavenly, try this. Also there's beer and wine available. The owner Ae loves the Ace Pineapple ale and we get that on tap there. They also serve Beer Lao which only recently has been exported to the states. There's indoor and outdoor seating and a kid's area. Definitely a family friendly place with great staff and excellent food. Go be adventurous and try this place ! read more

Hidden gem! Stumbled upon here after I finished up my work on a Tuesday night and was craving for some Asian dishes. Lou, the owner, greeted me to the bar since I was eating solo and started with a beer flight of 4 beers ranging from light lagers to dark fruity stouts...you can't go wrong with beers here! Then I ordered 2 entrees (I skipped lunch so I was super hungry): Larb gai - minced chicken seasoned with fresh herbs and veggies with lime juice on a bed of cabbage with sticky rice Pieng sien and jaew - marinated grilled brisket and Laos oven-roasted tomato sauce with sticky rice Both were extremely good and cooked to perfection! Meats were tender and full of flavors as well as the veggies were fresh and crisp (not overcooked). But no matter how good the food is I never give a 5 stars without excellent service and attentiveness.
