Fox Water Softener

Fox Water Softener

What can be said about water? Or a company which deals in water?…read more Well, let's see. About five years ago, I bought my current home. In the basement, there was a faded, lime-green water softener brine tank and recharge tank. It was "antique" - but wasn't in use (it had been bypassed). There on the front of that brine barrel was the logo for Fox Water. Since the tank was so old (30 years or more), I figured Fox Water might have been long gone - and I stared at it every day for two years before finally looking them up for an estimate on removing it and replacing it with something useful. Even though it was a few years ago, the conversation on the phone stands out in my memory as the thing that sold me on hiring them. It's a family-owned and operated business - and they really know their stuff. The price for a new water softener was agreeable and the experience of "water softener sales and service" was as titilating as it sounds. Now I have soft water, which makes everything about my life a little bit better. But wait, there's more... A little over a year ago, we heard some disturbing news about some of the wells in Madison - that there were chemicals in some of the wells, but they were "within acceptable limits". Our concern (and our desire for tastier water) led us to buying bottled water (for a dispenser) from Fox Water. I choose to run the empties back to Fox Water every month or so, and lug the full ones home and into my basement for storage. Just yesterday, I stopped in to drop off the empties and pick up some full jugs - and the chap who loaded my water in my truck complimented my baby for being awesome. Their price for bottled water (from Nicolet) is very reasonable - they're always friendly when I stop in - but when you compliment my baby, congratulate me on being a dad and shake my hand? Sold. Customer for life.

I go to Fox Water because they carry Nicolet bottled water. Boss man Ray is quite unfriendly…read more (Probably saves his nice face for the customers whom he knows better. Good for them, bad for people like me.) His employees are generally friendlier, which makes my trips there tolerable. I put up with Ray's surliness because I like Nicolet water and don't know where else to get it.

We are here 24/7 and know every contractor that comes and goes in and out of our house. I checked our salt tank and all that is in it is 8" of water. Not a spec of salt found. Called Nathan. He said it was delivered August 8, 2024 which generated the bill. For years the water softener tank was filled to the brim continuously with salt. In the past the driver would come in the back door and deliver like clock work every month. We heard him come in, deliver, and leave. Since locking the back doors a few years ago we never see him. Told him to use the door with the ramp. That was met with resistance. Last year we've heard the driver knock 2 times. Both times we went to answer the door and heard the truck drive off and had to call Nathan to get him to turn around and come back. In 2024 we had to call and ask for salt because the tank was empty. If the driver is coming and we are not here, which is rare, there isn't a notice that he stopped by. There is never a delivery notice to alert us that the driver is delivering on a given day or at a minimum a given week. One of our rentals receives a delivery also, and we are never asked for a key or entry into that rental. The delivery doesn't taken place there either. In summary, we get bills and no salt delivery. Nathan's response is that the driver wouldn't risk his job over 3 bags of salt. Then where is the salt? Where is the driver? Because the driver isn't coming into our home and delivering anything. The photo is our water softener on the day the Culligan bill came in for a delivery that they say happened on 8/8/2024. From 2019 - 2022 this tank was filled to the top all the time. Communication with Culligan is inferior and the customer service is poor.
