I've been using Cuddledown for years and they function well when there's nothing that goes wrong. However, when you're paying $500+ for comforters and $100+ for pillows you have some minimal expectation for customer service. I had an instance where my order didn't arrive. I called a couple of days to check on it and they told me they can't help me until 15 days until the order was placed as this was company policy. I called after 15 days and they said that they still can't help me trace the package and that it's the customer's responsibility to contact the shipper directly, file an investigation, follow-up with the shipper and when all is settled and done follow-up with Cuddledown to hear next steps. In short, Cuddledown is great if it's simple and easy however if things go wrong, don't expect any support and if you spent hundreds of dollars best to deal directly with your credit card company since they will not help find your shipment unless you like giving this company a loan for a couple of months while you wait for a resolution. Buyers beware. Best check out Parachute or Brooklinen with similar products but the customer service is much better and if something goes wrong, you're not left holding the bag. Update 7/17/18 - JT from Cuddledown's Social Media team responded to my concern on 7/2/18 and told me that their customer service department would contact me and help. Bought some sheets from them for Christmas--nice quality, no problem there. But today when I looked at my bank account, there was a charge from "Cuddledown VIP" for $14.95. I *do have a vague memory of them asking, after checkout I believe, if I wanted to become a Cuddledown VIP...but I do NOT remember anything about a $15/mo charge. Because if I had seen that....there is NO WAY I would have signed up. NO POSSIBLE WAY. I was told my "membership" would be cancelled and I would not be charged the $14.95. Beware of this trick. This company does not stand behind their products or their warranty. My wife and I heard about Cuddledown through a shopping app she uses called Ru Lala. Her being vegan, we were interested in their synthetic line of "down-like" comforters and mattress toppers. We purchased one of each due to their "lifetime warranty" through the app. Since then both items have become defective. First was the comforter, and after dealing with a few different people there, they finally agreed to replace the comforter. Fast forward to last year. The mattress topper started to warp and has become extremely uncomfortable. I contacted Cuddledown about having it replaced as well. The woman there told me that it was not their problem to replace it and that I needed to contact Ru Lala. After contacting Ru Lala they informed me that I needed to contact Cuddledown about a warranty replacement. After speaking with Cuddledown again, they flat out refused to replace the mattress topper because it wasn't purchased through their website, even though they were the ones to authorize the app to sell their products in the first place. They were not friendly, or at all pleasant to speak with to boot. To me this does not make sense. If it weren't for the app, we never would have heard of this company. It's very sad when a manufacturer would rather be bombarded with negative reviews rather than just replace an item that they claim has a lifetime warranty. I placed a factory second item in my cart and checked out without a problem, but the following day received an email from customer service telling me the item was no longer available and directing me to a lower-quality and higher-priced item. I emailed the company that I was disappointed and it seemed like a bait and switch to me. I received the email below. I think she should have started with the apology rather than ending with it, but I'll let you decide. In any case, I'll order from another company and won't deal with Cuddledown again. "No, that is very untrue. You chose an item that is a Factory Irregular and we do not mass produce these items. They are only added to web when they come available, which is not often. The web site did not let you purchase this item as it was not available which is why the order ended up on my report for exceptions. It did not download into the system to charged. I offered an alternative as I typically do in these cases. The 1000 fill power comforters are made to order and not mass produced. Again, you chose a factory irregular, which is a mistake that was made, but not enough of one to not be able to sell at a reduced price. I contacted you as soon as I was able. Again, our apologies. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE company! The VIP program is a scam. I purchased one item from them over a year ago and didn't realize that they automatically opted me in for the VIP program. They then continued to charge me $15 a month for an entire year! Because it was a card I no longer use, I didn't even notice the charges until they had already charged me 13 times. When I called to correct it and get a refund, they only gave me half of the money back. Total scam! I didn't even like the actual item I bought from them. Absolutely unacceptable! When I contact these companies they all say they got my name from "cuddledown". Don't buy from this company - they will sell your name and mailing address to literally everyone under the sun. Wish I had checked Yelp before making a purchase. Companies like this are the reason why people flock to stores like Amazon that make shipping and returning easy. Bought a towel (expensive) and was very disappointed in its quality. I had joined the VIP thing, thinking I would save on shipping for this order and subsequent orders if I liked the towels. It's almost a month after I placed my order and I have (1) not received the promised rebate after filling out the shipping rebate form (2) returned the towel several weeks ago, and have not seen any credit or email about it from the company, and (3) even if I ever do get the credit from the refunded towel, the paperwork states the company will deduct $9.50 in return shipping. So, when doing business with Cuddledown your choices are: 1) Pay a steep fee for shipping and returning your product. I'm out about $20 for a towel purchase. 2) Join a club for $15 a month (free one month trial) in order to get some of your shipping refunded if you want to deal with filling out rebate forms and getting snail mail checks sent to you. I've only experienced one item from them, but on top of my shipping cost complaints, the item itself was very overpriced and of poor quality. read more

I bought a set of "500 count" sheets and pillow cases, and they are not 500 count. They feel no better than cheap 200 thread count sheets and pillow cases from Walmart, except they cost 8x more. I've slept on true 500 TC sheets, and they're both soft and smooth, not rough, stiff, and crinkly. I'm tempted to bring what I bought to a fabric store to have the TC verified, because it's quite illegal to advertise false information about a product. read more

I ordered sheets on line due to the fact that I can't find any sheets in stores for a Cal King. Also, a lot of the sheets you buy in the stores these days feel like $30 sheets even if they say 800 thread count. I ordered a Cal King set from Cuddledown after lamenting over the price for a few weeks. LOVED them. Then I ordered a full set. They didn't feel the same. The full set where rougher but I thought it was just me experiencing some subliminal buyers remorse. Then the husband (who couldn't care less about sheets) was helping me make the full size bed and he commented that the full sheets didn't feel as soft as the Cal King. We compared the labels and they are the same but definitely a lesser quality sheet. Its hit and miss with this place and these sheets are NOT cheap. The Cal King set was $257 and the full set was $187. I don't get it. I won't order from this place again, not because of the price, because of the mystery surrounding the quality. read more

as someone who has ordered online from Cuddledown as far back as 2008, I cannot begin to convey the awful customer service when I recently attempted to order several items and had experienced a sluggish and often unresponsive website, to only then reach out to customer service via message and phone calls and encountered the most incapable (though it seemed that is how they'd been set up to be). They suggested I contact a level two customer service by phone instead, which I tried three times to get through to and was sent to something called The Country Store; the fourth time I remained in a hold loop. it's shocking to see a company get in its own way to such a degree. it's also a way to lose a customer for good. read more

My experiences echo others here: run, don't walk, in the other direction. I'm 65 years old and my recent experience with their customer service departments is the worst I've ever experienced. Yes, I said departments, because you will get transferred around and around, each person giving you a different answer and no one being able to help get your order shipped. I've spent thousands of dollars here over the years. They make wonderful products, many of them in the USA, but it is not worth it for the hours of hassles that you will spend on the phone after you place your order. On February 17 I placed an order (K2074930) for two comforters and two duvet covers. In late February, I received a letter stating that Cuddledown was unable to verify my delivery address and had put the order on hold. The delivery address I had identified was my work address. I called and spoke to a Customer Service representative, and I confirmed my address was correct. The Customer Service agent informed me that he released the hold on my order and I should have it soon. During the first few days of March, I logged onto Cuddledown's website periodically to check on the status of my order. For nearly two weeks, the status was shown as "Processing". To my surprise, when I again logged onto Cuddledown's website on March 22, I discovered the status displayed as "Cancelled by Customer". I had not, in fact, cancelled the order. I was still eagerly, and patiently, waiting for my comforters to arrive. That day, I contacted Customer Service to inquire about the erroneous status. The Customer Service agent was able to verify that I had not cancelled the order, but that the order was cancelled "by the system". He was unable to determine, or inform me, why the system had cancelled the order. However, he graciously placed a new order (R0773384) for the same four items. He apologized for the inconvenience and offered to ship my items FedEx 2-day at no additional cost to me. He told me to expect delivery on March 27. At 11:00am on March 27, I received an auto-generated notification from FedEx indicating that my package had been left "at the front door". Mind you, I have nearly 100% of my online purchases shipped to my work address, since I live alone and work during the day, versus my place of employment which has 450+ people and two dedicated shipping/receiving personnel, as well as a receptionist. Our FedEx deliveries always come to the loading dock at the back of our office, with occasional high-priority items delivered to the receptionist at the front desk. Thus, FedEx's status indicating that my package had been left "at the front door" did not make sense. I immediately contacted our shipping/receiving department and our receptionist. Neither had seen a package for me. My shipping specialist graciously offered to investigate for me. He called FedEx and had them put a trace on the package. Twenty minutes later, he informed me that the package had been delivered to a location in Florida (not Massachusetts, where I work and live). FedEx acknowledged the mistake, and sent a driver to reclaim the package. However, FedEx indicated they could not redirect the package to my rightful address without authorization from Cuddledown. That afternoon began a series of very frustrating and disturbing encounters with Cuddledown Customer Support. The first person I spoke with was friendly enough, but when I explained that I simply needed someone from Cuddledown to contact FedEx and request redirection of the package, she informed me that she was not authorized to contact FedEx. Thus, she escalated me to Customer Service Level 2. I then re-iterated the situation to Queenie, explaining that I had received confirmation of delivery; however I had not received the package. I explained that my shipping/receiving agent had already spoken with FedEx, FedEx had acknowledged that the package was erroneously sent to Florida, not Massachusetts, and that I simply needed Cuddledown to authorize FedEx to redirect the package to me in Massachusetts. Queenie asked me for all the basic information: order number, name, address, daytime phone number, etc. She then told me that the package had been delivered and I should go look outside my front door. A bit stunned, I re-stated to Queenie that FedEx has already acknowledged an error and the package was in Florida, and most certainly not outside my door in Massachusetts. Queenie then took on a tone that implied I was lying and trying to scam Cuddledown by claiming a lost/stolen package. I explained again that it would be very easy to verify the status of the package if she contacted FedEx. I was becoming more agitated, and Queenie decided to escalate me to Customer Support Level 3. So then I spoke with Cindy. I again had to repeat the basic info: order number, name, address, daytime phone number, etc. I again explained that I had received an auto-generated confirmation of delivery; however I had not received the package. I explained that my shipping/receiving agent had already spoken with FedEx, FedEx had acknowledged that the package was erroneously sent to Florida, not Massachusetts, and that I simply needed Cuddledown to authorize FedEx to redirect the package to me in Massachusetts. Cindy took a few moments, and entered the order number and tracking number into the system, only to return to the line and tell me, "Sir, the package has been delivered to your front door. This company is a nightmare. I ordered a $400 "set" of sheets. When you order a set, you don't get a set, you get 3 separate packages. The top sheet came from a different dye lot than the bottom sheet/pillow cases. It doesn't match. I called customer service, the agent said I had to buy a new sheet and return the one that didn't match. So I did. The new sheet didn't match, either. I am going through the absolute nightmare of dealing with their horrible customer service, everything is done via the slowest shipping possible. I have been in possession of all of these mismatched sheets for almost 3 months with multiple frustrating calls trying to send them back and get my over $550.00 back, I have now once again requested a shipping label for return and I have to wait another 7-10 business days to receive the return label. I placed an order on Nov 7th 2017 for a comforter and its duvet cover. I received the email with my order with Fedex tracking # which I couldn't track anything. A week passed, and realized that I hadn't gotten the order. Called the customer service, and asked when I would receive the order. She said it was not shipped yet because they needed to verify the shipping address... I asked why they hadn't reached me then. and she said they called, but I didn't receive a call from them to my cell # that I provided. Anyways I asked her to ship it as soon as possible. and she replied that she would ship it asap since they have the item in stock. Two weeks passed by without checking status since I was abroad for my work, but I assumed the order should've arrived. unfortunately, it wasn't. I called them, and a male customer service person now said it wasn't shipped yet because they didn't have the item but he said they would receive it tomorrow. He was apologetic and offered he would not charge shipping and handling. I thought it was fair enough and hanged up the phone. A week passed, and finally I received it, but I see my credit card statement shows the shipping and handling wasn't deducted. Not only that even though they stated "made in USA" on the website, the item package says "made in China".... My wife and I tried to buy from companies sell items made in USA. I called the customer service, and explained the situation. and this person said there was no record that he mentioned about waiving the shipping and handling fee, so that she cannot do that. it is just a bad customer handling and bad communication. and I felt they don't really care about their customer. read more

Wow, this company is the worst. I wish I had checked this page before following Wirecutter's recommendation and ordering sheets from them. I placed an order on Feb 20, 2018, and more than a week later, the order hasn't shipped out. I've been calling since Friday to ask where the item is and the customer service line keeps telling me that it's "in the warehouse" and that it should "ship any day now". Looking at all the other reviews here makes it clear that I should just buy my sheets elsewhere and expect a long battle with them to make sure I get my money back. I have been a customer of Cuddledown's for many, many years. Always ordering from their catalogs. I ordered 1 sheet, and 1 sheet set. Their Shipping Charges are ridiculous! I received the 1 sheet, and am STILL waiting for my sheet set. When I got my charge card monthly statement I saw I was charged the shipping for the ENTIRE ORDER. I have been calling every week asking when my sheets are coming in, and every time you call you get a different answer! The sheets ARE MADE IN CHINA! And because of what's going on with the SANCTIONS, I have no Idea when I will receive my sheet set. I called their customer service a few minutes ago and got a crotchety old man on the phone. I explained that I am a long time customer, and would like a courtesy discount on the shipping for all this waiting. This old S.O.B. told me NO, and DISCONNECTED ME! I've had absolutely nightmarish experiences with customer service and orders. If you place an order with them, there is about a 5% chance of ever receiving it at all. I've even placed orders by phone with supervisor level staff and given my info to complete the order. I regret every interaction and attempted order I've placed. On the opposite end of my statements I must add that when an order did arrive, the company doubled the merchandise and charged my card for their mistakes. This "business" has caused several absolutely infuriating, inconvenient, and stupid messes for me. I just had to return several products and have no faith that anything will go well. All I want from them is for my card to be credited for items returned. If they react in their usual business manner, that is going to become a "snafu" also. Never again for me! I'm shocked that they are still acting as a reputable company. They should not even exist. How can they go on treating customers as if it were all a game of mystery? Without a doubt a negative rating needs to be designed and cuddledown would be the mascot for it! It started with a simple several hundred dollar order for bedding for my mother in January, 2021. The website was unable to process multiple items and that's when I was forced to contact the lousiest customer service I've had in years. It's based in another country and the 'agents' have a difficult time understanding us and I had a difficult time understanding them, so it was a tedious and arduous process. That should have been my warning to just hang up and shop elsewhere, but I finally got everything ordered. At least I thought I did; however, the next day my mother received an email that there had been problems processing her credit card. So I called them again and gave them all the information, again. Then the wait began. Once the 7-10 day order time they told me to expect came and went, I went online to track the status. After another week of 'processing' showing on the order I sent them an em asking what the real status was. The next day we received an em that they needed the credit card information. Again! When I called customer service I got a guy who told me he couldn't understand my English! Yikes! When I told him (slowly as I could to help him out) that I wanted to cancel the order he told me that 'he'd see if we were allowed to cancel it'! That was it. I asked for a supervisor. After a wait he came back and said there were no supervisors! I told him that all he had to do, right now, was cancel the order. I wish I had read online reviews about Cuddledown before ordering-on one site they are rated 129th among bedding sites. Complaints abound about customer service and credit card processing. I decided we didn't need to be disappointed if their touted 'made in america' is really made in china, as many customers have alleged. I've not been this aggravated in a long time, but there are plenty of bedding companies out there, so don't waste your time and money on this operator. Their outsourcing of customer service isn't the problem; the outsourcing of good customer service with people who understand english, understand that the expectation is to be able to cancel hassle-free, to get updates if there are payment problems (all on their end) or shipping delays is the problem. Let me say first that the products are of very high quality, and it is difficult to find products of this caliber elsewhere. I recently visited the store during the Memorial Weekend Sale. Unfortunately, all of the items I wanted were not in the store, and it would take days to have them delivered to the store, therefore, I resorted to making my purchase online and pay delivery charges. I placed my order on May 28th and shipping fulfillment took far longer than what it should have, and the shipping rates are higher than average. I drove here because I had heard it was THE place to shop for nice bedding and accessories, so off I went with Matt because we recently invested in upgrading the house with some swanky paint. It's been two years. It's time. Our bedroom is painted like a Pinterest dream, FYI. We arrived knowing it would be pricey, but hoping to invest in a bedroom upgrade. Think bed by Martha. While there are lots of touches of Maine I feel let down. The selection was a bit odd and there were lots of discount pieces, but not because they're out of season, because they are manufacturer defects. Meh. I'll pass. As a business and tourism enthusiast I do have to say that this store seems to really focus on the seasonal rental/tourist consumer than they do year round residents. It hurts me to think that I might be happier at a retail chain, but alas, this is not a selection that a resident really wants. I don't need lobster towels, my brother is a lobsterman. If I want to see bugs, I'll throw on my grundens, bub. Not a single sales person of the three said hi to us. And they didn't seem like they wanted to convince us otherwise so... I've ordered bedding and other items for years and been pleased, but our recent experience was very unfortunate. We ordered almost $900 in pillows, decided immediately that they weren't the weight that we wanted, and have been trying for three weeks to get a shipping label so that we can return them. The worst part is that the staff on the telephone keep promising that the label "is in the mail" or "will be there any day", and then nothing happens. When service personnel are this bad, it's a deliberate decision by management. At this point we are just going to pay to send the pillows back ourselves, and never, ever shop here again. The products I ordered were OK and over priced. The sheets are a heavy quality and combined with the down blanket gives us a luxe bed that we def paid for. I felt compelled to write because while most of the negative reviews are about the VIP service, I have been had a great experience with it. Being a new homeowner, this allows us to get 5% off of Home Depot gift cards as well as 5% off the overall bill when we submit the receipt. When restoring a 100 year old house, it adds up. We also get 5% off of almost all clothes purchase, my excessive Sephora purchases and much more. We've saved over $500 this year on home and clothing purchases. While it is time consuming to submit the receipts, it's proved well worth my time and the $15 a month charge. We've gotten more than our money's worth. read more

Beware of shipping charges. I almost ordered two sheet sets from their catalogue but at check out I noticed they were going to charge me over $50 for shipping. I contacted customer service and was told they base shipping charges on the cost of the order not the costs of shipping. So the more expensive the items are that you order the higher your shipping charges will be. Seems like a very bad business model. Needless to say I will be purchasing sheets elsewhere. Stay Away! No longer the same company it once was since it moved to overseas manufacturing and even more importantly, overseas customer service call center! Placed a very large order 3/17/2021. Never received any communications from the company regarding tracking, shipping etc. BUT "mysteriously" was automatically was placed into a Cuddledown VIP program that was going to charge my credit card $14 per month for the privilege of what? On 4/4 I telephoned to find out the status of my order. Call center located overseas, bad connections, difficultly understanding everything the customer service rep. said except that the order had not been placed because there was a question on a apt number for my billing address (not even the delivery address). Once clarified, I was told the order would ship within 5-7 days. 13 business days later, I telephoned to determine the status of my order, after 3 customer service transfers (2 within the overseas call center both of which insisted on "reconfirming" my name, delivery and billing addresses and telephone number on the order even though I gave my order number each time), I was finally connected to a Level 2 customer service rep (US based) who in perfect English told me that the order had been "Cancelled by Customer" that prior Sunday, 4/18. They had no other information except that. I can guarantee that I did not cancel the order. The level of effort and frustration on my part and incompetence on the company's part proves that this company is not worth dealing with. Thee are many better options available! read more

I would give Cuddledown minus stars if I could. My wife ordered pajamas from them, and nothing arrived. She called customer service and got a run-around, oh we've changed our warehouse, they've been back-ordered, etc. etc. When they finally arrived, months later, they were of poor quality, badly sewn and scratchy. So my wife washed them; result still scratchy. Then she tried to return them, again customer service was a no use. Gave her another 'phone number to call. My wife finally got a supervisor, who was helpful. She now has a return address, and a case number. I don't believe she will ever use Cuddledown against. read more

We made a big order to be shipped to our new home. When it hadn't arrived after two weeks we called and got such a runaround. As it turns out, they put a hold on the account because the billing address was different from the shipping address. They never called or emailed; they just held up the order. Funny how they forgot to send notice of that after charging the credit card until they were contacted about the fact that the merchandise was never received, though their system provides a tracking number for shipment. Like other customers I too would give Cuddledown minus starts if I could I was disappointed with the item I ordered at Cuddledown which was a Wool Fleece Mattress Pad and was considering buying a feather bed instead. However, I sent the ordered item back but had to discover that I did not receive the $349 credit upon the return. When I checked I was told that the warehouse said they did not receive the correct order and hence they did not credit me. However, they did not alert me to this fact nor where they able to tell me what they actually did receive. All I know is that I only ordered one item, returned the item and am now $349 out. The customer service experience was more then poor. I did want to order a featherbed for $999 but given the poor attendance to me as a customer I will be looking elsewhere. Tried contacting this person. No response. Took me months to get them to stop charging me for some "monthly membership". AVOID. AVOID.

got a replacement order of 2 pillows. they smell so bad that i had to put them out of the house. they will be sent back and NOT replaced. they don't have the courage to put the country where these pillows were made. i doubt it was in the USA. read more

Totally disappointed in your $100* pillows. I purchased two of them after having experienced them at a friend's house. She had purchased them several years ago and they were wonderful. I ordered the same ones, and they are awful.... No filling at all. I might as well put my head directly on the mattress. Very disappointed. read more

Not sure what is going on with this company. Customer service is the worst ever. I bought a blanket - it was too small - so I returned it and asked for a replacement. Simple enough. Then two months passed - no new blanket, no acknowledgement, and communication. Called customer service and they said the warehouse had moved, so they were behind. I finally had the charges reversed on my credit card and the dispute had to be resolved by the credit card company Will not order from cuddledown again. read more

Updated review: finally got my order. Only giving it another star because its actually decently comfortable. They never contacted me after all that time, and never sent me a confirmation email once it was shipped. I only got help through Yelp, and that is NOT how a company should be run. A complete ripoff! My 84-year old mother purchased something and was automatically enrolled in some VIP program with a recurring monthly charge of $14.95. Five months went by before I realized she had been taken advantage of. This is outright deceit! read more
