I drove 2 hours just to take a tour of the beautiful Lloyd W. Michael Water Treatment Plant located…read moreat the top of Etiwanda Ave. and the view alone was worth it! If you missed today's treatment plant tour you'll have to wait at least two years until the next one. I found out about it through their Instagram page and signed up right away and the staff were very nice and professional both via e-mail and in person. The event itself was fun, unique and educational and the treatment plant is a hidden gem of Rancho Cucamonga. The tour was given by treatment plant manager John Roberts who gave a great overview of where the water comes from (Lake Oroville and local underground wells), how it gets to the plant (big pipeline), how it's treated (coagulation, granulated active carbon, ultra violet rays), where it's stored (reservoirs) and how it gets to your home. Everyone was given a wireless headset which was awesome because we heard every word clearly and it was pretty windy up there. We were not allowed to take photos of the plant itself, but I can tell you, the view is stunning, the structures are massive and to see the process in person was remarkable. The tour put things in perspective as far as how much water gets treated here just to fulfill the needs of a whole city. If you get a chance to visit the facility I highly encourage you do so. The staff are all very proud to work there and answered everyone's questions thoroughly.

They made sure my service was restored and even snaked the entire length of the line to ensure it wouldn't happen again. I received recommendations on what to do to prevent it in the future. Every time I have called or come in to pay my bill, I have been greeted kindly and treated professionally. So happy to say I live in an area where we have good water and a water district that cares about its customers!

What makes Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District the worst is that they brag on their website that 2% to 5% of their customers get their service interrupted (water shut off) each month. That is approximately 13 to 15 thousand people each month have their water shut off. Why you might ask. So that they can charge a $500 deposit. See public utilities are supposedly regulated on what they can charge in California. But deposits and fines are not regulated. So when ever EVMWD needs extra revenue they start sending out shut off notice no matter if you are late or not. when you try to pay online the deposit and fines are already added to your bill before the date of shut off. You have to go into their office to pay and explain you are not late. It's should be illegal for them to do that. It's an addition 6 to 7 million dollars extra revenue for them. They know what they are doing. It's a scam because they are systematically forcing so many people into being late. Then the customers are forced into paying over a $1000 dollars to get their service turned back on. They love to send these notices at the end of the year right before the holidays. It's a big money grab and they should be investigated for this. They will say they are regulated by the Public Utility Commission. But that is only on what they can charge for their water and sewer rates. Not whether they are engaging in predatory practices by forcing customers into default.
